Chapter 8 date night

Anna’s P.O.V
It was now late at night and Jessica was at my house as we were both waiting for Toby to get back from his date. It was already midnight and he still hadn't text me, which was really weird and we were both wondering how it was going, so I decided to text him.
Me - Toby, earth to Toby. How's the date going? You haven't text all night.
Typing….typing….typing….
Toby - It's going great. She's been a perfect lady all night and hasn't tried anything, she hasn't flirted with anyone except for me. We’re about to leave and take her home. I’ll come by and see you afterwards.

Me - We’ll be waiting, see you then.
I put my phone and looked back at Jessica, who was waiting for me to tell her what was going on.
“He says it's going great and that he's just going to take her home and then he will come to see us.” I said and Jessica looked really weird, like she was angry or something.
“Shelly is a human just like me and yet she has a mate and is now going to be like you. It's not fair.” Jessica said, angrily pouting.
“It's not Shelly’s fault that Toby is her mate. If you are meant to be part of our world then you will be, but you have to be patient. After all you are only seventeen and if you are mated to a werewolf and he is seventeen then he hasn't shifted yet, which means he wont recognise you as his mate.” I said and she seemed to relax then as she smiled.
“Yeah, you're right. The one I’m meant to be with probably hasn't shifted yet. Okay, well at least that gives me a bit of hope.” Jessica said, but it aggravated me with how desperate she was to be part of our world, she was starting to use our terms and she really had no right to, she wasn't like us and the only way she would be was if she was mated to someone like us. Was that the only reason she wanted a mate so that she could be like us? Is that the only reason she is mine and Toby’s friend? I thought to myself, but quickly shook it off. That was absurd, Jessica has been our friend for years and I know that it's not just because of what we are. Jessica’s not like that.
Toby’s P.O.V
I was so excited to have a date with my mate, I just hope I didn't live to regret it. I picked her up from her house at bang on eight at night, she came out of the house dressed casually, but she was still stunning to me. We went out for something to eat first and as the night went on we went to the movies to watch the new Tom and Jerry film. It was a pretty funny movie and I loved to hear Shelly laughing, it was like music to my ears. We shared a coke and a large bucket of popcorn, but then my phone started going off. Damn it, I thought I had turned this thing off, I thought to myself as I took my phone out of my pocket and gave Shelly my best ‘I’m sorry’ look, to which she simply smiled and nodded. I looked at the screen and I saw that it was a text from Anna, so I quickly texted her back and turned my phone off. The movie was over an hour later and I took Shelly back home. I parked my car out front of her house and walked her to her front door, when she turned and looked down then up into my eyes. Her beautiful eyes had me in a trance as she cleared her throat to speak.
“Listen, I know what you are, I know all about the mate thing and what supernatural creatures do. So my answer is yes, I'll be your mate, if that is what I am to you.” Shelly said and I was a little surprised to hear that she already knew about me being a werebear and the mate bond.
“Yeah, you're right about the ‘mate thing’ as you put it and yes you are my mate. You're mine and I’m not letting you go. Tonight was a big test for you, I had to see whether you could be my mate and you are.” I replied, leaning down to plant a soft kiss to her lips. I was met with the sparks and tingles of her being my true mate and it felt incredible.
“I’ll see you tomorrow okay. Go get your sleep because tomorrow is going to be a big day for you.” I said and kissed her once more before walking away from her. I got in my car and looked at Shelly, who had a confused look on her face, but she didn't say anything to me and would probably ask me what I meant tomorrow. I waited for her to go into the house and up to her bedroom before driving away, heading to Anna’s house.
Anna’s P.O.V
Toby pulled up at my house and both Jessica and I were waiting outside for him. We waited for him to get out of the car, but I could feel how anxious Jessica was to know what happened. Don't get me wrong I wanted to know too, but I wasn't anxious about it, I was excited for Toby.
“Well, how was she? Did she act like a lady?” Jessica asked, but her voice was full of resentment. Thankfully Toby didn't pick up on it though as he just looked really happy.
“She was a complete lady, she's perfect.” Toby said, drifting off into dreamland.
“Did you tell her about the mate bond and that she is your mate?” I asked and he nodded, while goofily smiling, but then he came back down to earth.
“Actually that was the weird part, she already knew about me and the mate bond or mate thing as she called it. She asked if she was my mate, I told her yes and she agreed to be my mate. Tomorrow is going to be a big day, as she will be moving to my pack and joining us.” Toby replied and we all nodded. That's the one thing I didn't like, in fact I hated it because once you have a mate the female has to leave her pack and her home to go and live in the males pack. The female doesn't have a choice in the matter and I hated that, I have my own mind and I wasn't going to give that up.
Unknown Hunter P.O.V
We watched from afar and we figured out who we wanted to take, the girl with the long dark hair in a ponytail. She was standing outside talking to a guy and another girl, but she was the one I wanted. She looked strong and she looked like she was a fast runner, which is exactly what I’m looking for. I don't want a fast and easy kill, I love the hunt and that is exactly what she will give me.
“Let's get out of here, we’ll get her soon enough.” I said, turning to my partner and he nodded. We hopped into our truck and drove off before anyone could see us.
Anna’s P.O.V
Just before Jessica and Toby left we all saw a Chevy truck pull off and it looked really suspicious. I wondered who it was and why someone would be out here in the middle of the woods at this time of night, it was just plain weird. I said goodbye to Toby and Jessica, watching as they both left before going back into the pack house and straight to the living room. My mom and dad were in there, sitting on the sofa watching American Horror Story Murder House on Netflix.
“Hey mom, dad, I’m going to go to bed now, goodnight.” I said, hugging and kissing both of them.
“Goodnight sweetie.” My mom and dad replied together, before I headed upstairs to my room.
Mercury’s P.O.V
I watched our daughter go upstairs to bed and then looked back at Cheyenne. It has been eighteen years and I still look at my mate like I could devour her. Cheyenne looked up at me smiling and leaning into me as I placed my hand on the back of her neck, smashing my lips into hers and kissing her passionately. It was like she read my mind as she pushed me back on the sofa and lucky for me she was wearing a skirt with no panties.
