Chapter 10 the shift

Anna's P.O.V

  What does that mean, I’m coming? What the hell Lizzy I went to ask her and then I felt it. It started off as a slight ache at first, like my legs felt a bit sore, but then I fell to the ground as a searing pain shot through my whole body. I let out the loudest scream I had ever screamed and saw through blurred eyes that everyone had to cover their ears. My mom and dad ran over to me, kneeling beside me.

  “It's okay honey, I’m here.” My mom said as my legs started to break. I could hear the bones cracking and splintering before shifting into their new places. My skull felt like it was on fire at first and then it felt as if every bone in my body was being crushed. I was trying to stay strong, but I don't know if I could do this. Tears started streaming down my face as the pain became unbearable, but I was determined to go as far as I could before letting Lizzy take over.

  “No pain, feel no pain. No pain, feel no pain. No pain, feel no pain…..” I said to myself and kept repeating a mantra in my head and suddenly I felt no pain at all, as I finished my first shift. When I opened my eyes I looked down to see two pure white paws and it was the color of white like snow white or like whipped cream white. I looked around and saw that everyone's mouths were wide open and then I saw my mom look at my dad. Was there something wrong with me? Had I shifted wrong or something? What was going on that they all looked so shocked about?

  Mercury’s P.O.V

  “She's a pure white wolf, Mercury. She has many powers, we need to keep her safe.” Cheyenne said and I agreed, nodding my head. Since Cheyenne had changed into a werewolf he had read up a lot about our kind, but in all my years I have never seen a pure white wolf until today. Anna was no other colour except for her eyes, she had one white and one silver, I wonder what that means. I will have to read up on this and see what I can find out, anything that will help protect our daughter. Cheyenne smiled at Anna before shifting into her pure black wolf before I shifted into my wolf and everyone else followed us, doing the same. We all started on the run and this was Anna and Lizzy’s first run with the pack. We ran hard and fast, but we soon had to return to the pack house as Shelly and Jessica were there all alone, waiting for us to return. Werebears had different rules to us and they could change their mate whenever they wanted to, but we could only do it when our mate was near death, personally I had to admit I preferred the werebear way as there was no guarantee that changing them when they were near death would work. Toby had spoken to me about it and he told me that he wasn't ready to change her yet, not until she was ready and I respected him for that. When we got back everyone shifted back and got dressed, I was surprised to see that Shelly had taken the initiative to get some clothes out ready for all of us and lay them on the ground. 

  “Thank you Shelly, that was quick thinking and very kind of you.” I said and she smiled, while nodding. I was proud of my daughter and what she had done tonight, the first shift is never easy and from what I can tell she never gave control over to Lizzy.

 “Everyone, please welcome Anna’s wolf Lizzy to the pack.” I announced and the ones that hadn't shifted back yet lifted their heads up and howled into the night sky. I knew a couple of the male wolves were hoping that Anna was going to be their mate, but they didn't smell her scent and were disappointed, as they always liked Anna, but now that they knew she wasn't their mate. I watched as Anna looked around and from the looks of it she didn't find her mate, but she didn't look disappointed either, it was more like a look of relief.

  Anna’s P.O.V

  Everyone was up until two in the morning, having fun, dancing, joking and just having a blast. Around three in the morning and everyone started returning to their cabins and rooms, they were all getting tired and wanted to rest. I went to my room feeling completely exhausted, it was tiring shifting and shifting back. I went straight to the bathroom, taking a long shower and letting the hot water wash over my aching body. I got out of the shower, dried off and went back into the bedroom, putting on my night shorts and tank top. I lay down on my bed and pretty soon I was drifting off, I was so tired that I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer. As soon as I fell asleep I started having a really weird dream. I was running through the woods and I felt both scared and alone at first, it felt like something was chasing me. I climbed up a tree to try and get away and when I looked around I didn't see anything. I jumped down from the tree and started running once again as fast as I could. I could hear people screaming behind me and felt bullets whizzing past my head, barely missing me. I tried to shift, but I couldn't and I couldn't feel Lizzy either. What the hell did these people do to me? What did they do to Lizzy? Where was Lizzy? Why wasn't she here with me? The thoughts and questions raced through my head, just as I continued to race through the woods, trying to get away from them.
