Anna’s P.O.V
I was so sick and tired of feeling like my energy was draining away from me. William said that the cave was only an hour away from us, but I was so tired because of the stupid f*****g drug that I had to stop and take a break every twenty minutes until my energy had come back. What the hell did they inject me with that it was able to last this long? Normally drugs don't work on werewolves because we heal fast, it had already been two days since they injected me, but this drug seemed to be lasting forever. We finally made it to the cave after two hours, but when I looked I couldn't see an opening to it, there was nothing. Did he bring me here to them? Did he trick me? Was he lying all along about the cave? These questions were racing through my mind as I slowly backed away from William, but then he started to push against the rocky wall and it started to move. It was a boulder, William was moving a huge boulder that was hiding the entrance to the cave. I felt so guilty for doubting him, but I didn't know him that well, he was a stranger to me and I didnt know who I could trust. I was pulled out of my thoughts when Willam grabbed my hand and pulled me into the cave, pushing the boulder back in front of the entrance and closing us in.
“That will stop the hunters from finding us. Come on, follow me.” William said, walking past me and towards the back of the pitch black cave. I followed him to near the very back of the cave and when William stopped I sat down, bringing my knees up to my chest and hugging them as tears started to stream down my face. All I wanted was to go home, I wanted to see my mom, I needed to know if she was okay. Lizzy and I had been repeatedly trying to mind-link my dad and other pack members, but it wasn't working. Toby! Maybe I could link Toby, he wasn't from our pack, but we had such a close bond and for some reason I was always able to mind-link him and others that were not from my pack or related to me, mom said it might be connected to my powers, but we weren't sure. My eyes glazed over as I tried to form a connection to Toby, hoping that it would not only work but that he would also reply to me.
“Toby, are you there? This is urgent, I don't know where I am and all these men are trying to hunt me down, but this werebear saved me and now we are hiding in a cave. Please, please, please let me know if you can hear me, please reply to me.” I said, mind-linking him. I just hope that he heard me and replied to me fast.
Toby’s P.O.V
I was out with my mate Shelly when I heard that Anna was missing, so we both quickly rushed over to Alpha Don’s pack to see if we could help. I needed to help her, she was my best friend and just because I have a mate doesn't mean that I will let her stay away. Shelly understood and agreed with me, as we stood outside Alpha Mercury’s office. I knocked on the door and I could sense how angry and worried he was through the door.
“Come in.” Alpha Mercury said and I opened the door, walking in with my mate closely behind me. I knew that Alpha Mercury would never hurt Shelly, but his daughter had been taken and that was a huge thing for any werewolf or werebear, but it was a hell of a lot worse for an Alpha, he could lose control at any second and I wanted to protect my mate if that happened. Alpha Mercury looked terrible, he had bags under his eyes, the office was a complete mess from where he had wrecked it, but thankfully there were others here as well.
“We heard what happened and we came to see if we could help.” I said and Alpha Mercury smiled at me.
“Thank you Toby, Shelly. We don't know much. Some men rammed them off the road and dragged them out of the car. They set Cheyenne on fire before taking Anna. Cheyenne was burned really badly, but she managed to show me the faces of the men who did this, we just can't seem to find them.” Alpha Mercury said, sighing and running his fingers through his hair.
“We will get her back and when we do we will make all of them pay for what they have done.” Shelly said, coming from behind me and standing by my side and I was so proud of her. Alpha Mercury smiled at her and patted my shoulder, telling me that I had a good mate and to never let her go and I didn't plan to. We all started to make plans, discussing who it could be and why they wanted Anna, but I couldn't concentrate on it fully. I kept hearing this weird buzzing or humming noise in my head and it was like someone was trying to link me, but it was like they were too far away to connect at first. I could hear a small quiet voice and it was like a whisper at first, barely audible, but then it grew louder and I heard her voice. It was Anna. I opened my mind up to Alpha Mercury and he gave me a confused look.
“What's going on? Why are you opening your mind up to….” Alpha Mercury asked, but then he heard it too. He heard Anna’s voice.
“Toby, are you there? This is urgent, I don't know where I am and all these men are trying to hunt me down, but this werebear saved me and now we are hiding in a cave. Please, please, please let me know if you can hear me, please reply to me.” Anna said and she sounded so sad.
“Anna, girl, where are you? Your dad is worried sick, we all are. Are you okay?” I asked and waited for her reply. It went quiet for a few minutes and I thought she was gone, but then I felt the link between us get a little stronger.
“Oh my goddess, Toby, you heard me. I’m okay, I’m a little beat up from them hitting me, but I’ll heal. I shot one in the face and we ran, now we’re in some sort of cave. How is mom doing? Is she alright?” Anna asked, sounded relieved.
“How far away are you? Your dad is listening too. Do you know how far you are from us?” I asked, hoping she was close by.
“William saved me and he said we are thirty hours away, but we will be heading back to you in a couple of days because we have to be careful and because they drugged me with something that keeps draining my energy.” Anna replied and I was glad she wasn't alone in this.
“Alright girl, when you find out where you are, link us and we will be there as fast as we can, baby girl. Tell your new friend thank you from all of us for saving you.” I said, thanking the Moon Goddess that I was able to receive her link.
“It's good to hear a friendly voice. Toby they shot me in the neck with some kind of drug, it's really weird stuff, but it's not wolfsbane. It's stopping me from using my powers and I can't even link dad or mom. Is mom okay?” Anna asked and Alpha Mercury nodded, smiling widely as he listened to Anna.
“Your dad is listening to the link, your mom is……” I started to say, but the link suddenly cut off. I couldn't even tell her about her mom, and I knew that she was going to worry about that, she was probably going to think we were keeping information about her mom from her so that she wouldn't worry. I just hope I could get through to her again.
Mercury’s P.O.V
I was so happy that we were finally able to hear Anna and know that she was okay, but then she said that she had been hit.
“THAT SON OF A b***h HIT MY DAUGHTER!! GODDESS HELP THEIR SOULS WHEN I GET MY HANDS ON THEM….” I shouted, pacing back and forth just as the door to my office flew open. We all turned to see who it was and I was both surprised and shocked to see Cheyenne standing there with Doctor Cloud holding her up.
“Cheyenne, thank goddess you're awake. What are you doing here, you need to be resting? How are you feeling?” I asked and she winced in pain as she tried to walk through the door. I quickly ran to her side and looked at Doctor Cloud who had a scared look on his face.
“I’m not going to just be laying around waiting for our daughter to come home. I’m home and I am going to help.” Cheyenne replied as we helped her over to the couch. I gave Doctor Cloud a confused look and he hung his head, shaking it.
“Don't look at me like that, have you met your wife? She woke up and when she found out that Anna still wasn't back she ripped all the machine's wires off her and tried to get out of bed. I tried to stop her, but she told me that if I didn't help her then she was going to shove a heart monitor up my ass and watch as it beeped. No offence but she scares the s**t out of me because I know that she would actually do it.” Doctor Cloud said, mind-linking me as to not get Cheyenne angry. I shook my head at the thought of her doing something like that.
“What are you doing out of bed? You should be resting, you need time to heal.” I said, but Cheyenne shook her head.
“I will tell you the same as I told Doctor Cloud, I will not lay around while everyone else looks for our daughter. I need to be looking for Anna and I will be just fine, now what do we have so far?” Cheyenne asked, gritting her teeth and I knew it was best not to argue with her.
