Rose's POV
Kaylie's in a real pickle, ain't she? Poor thing, chewing her lip like a cat with a hairball. I've never seen her so rattled before. She's probably wracking her brain, trying to figure out how to break the news to the whole pack about the quarantine, and telling them not to drink from the river contaminated by Huiwi's dark spells, lest they all turn against her. I'm stumped too, to be honest. I've got no idea what to say to comfort Kaylie and lift her spirits.
But hey, we've faced tough times before, right? Remember the time we tried baking that cake and ended up burning down half the kitchen? We laughed it off and ordered pizza instead. So, even though we're knee-deep in this mess, we'll figure it out together. Like a trio of superheroes tackling a villain, except our powers are more like making a mean grilled cheese.
I give Kaylie a sympathetic pat on the shoulder, hoping it helps even a little bit. She needs to know we've got her back, no matter how wacky things get
Kaylie turns to me as I give her a reassuring pat on the shoulder, hoping to bolster her spirits. But her next words catch me off guard, her tone serious, devoid of our usual banter.
"Rose, what if I don't join you guys back to Blue Sapphire Pack? Instead, I'll head to my house in the human territory that Lucas bought for me back when I was study as surgeon . That way, the whole Blue Sapphire Pack just needs to quarantine, without the need to stop drinking or bathing. Once the rain stops and things improve, then I'll return. Maybe my leaving Blue Sapphire Pack, as Huiwi intended from the start, will make all the troubles vanish without a trace, and all the pack members won't have to go through the hassle. The problem would only be with me. So if I leave, everything will be okay."
I'm taken aback by Kaylie's words, and with a hint of anger, I retort, "You want Lucas to chop my head off? You want Lucas to be angry at everyone? You want Lucas to step down from his candidacy as the Alpha King? You're happy to let all of Huiwi's wishes come true? You want to surrender before the battle even begins?" I fire off question after question. Then, in a desperate tone, I shout at her, " You're a coward, Luna Kaylie!'
My words are charged with emotion. I am so desperate. Then, with a softened voice, I say to Kaylie, " Kaylie, you can't just walk away like this," I implore, my voice trembling slightly. " Lucas wouldn't want you to make such a sacrifice. He wouldn't want you to bear the burden alone. We're in this together, remember? We'll find a way to overcome this, but we need you with us. Please, don't give up on us now." I squeeze her hand tightly, hoping she'll understand the gravity of her decision."
"Rose, calm down," Luna Chiko intervenes,
"Kaylie, that's not a wise decision. Lucas will surely be disappointed if you make that choice. Leaving without saying goodbye to him. This attack from Huiwi isn't just about you, it's about all of us. The malicious intent of Huiwi won't stop even if you move to the ends of the earth because she wants her revenge, which is to make you dead, just like you killed her son. So running away isn't the solution. The solution is for us to immediately return to Blue Sapphire Pack and talk to our husbands so we can find a way to convey to all the pack members to quarantine. We need to figure out how to ensure that the water sources in Blue Sapphire Pack remain uncontaminated by the rain, so all the pack members can still bathe and drink. When it comes to this problem, our husbands are definitely smarter at finding solutions. You don't have to sacrifice yourself for everyone else. You're valuable to every member of Blue Sapphire Pack, Kaylie, and you're incredibly important to Lucas, to me, and to Rose. So please don't say you'll leave Blue Sapphire Pack and stay in the human territory," Rose says, gripping Kaylie's hand tightly.
"Luna Kaylie, you've always been the voice of reason, the one who could crack a joke even in the direst situations," Luna Chiko continues, her tone earnest yet gentle. "Leaving now would only add to the chaos Huiwi has already caused. Lucas wouldn't want you to shoulder this burden alone. Remember, he loves you deeply, and so do we all. We need to stand together, face this threat head-on, and find a solution as a pack."
Chiko pauses, her gaze locking with Kaylie's, conveying her sincerity. "We're not just your friends; we're your family, Kaylie. And family sticks together through thick and thin. We'll support you every step of the way, but we need you with us. Your strength, your courage, they inspire us all. Please don't underestimate your worth to us and to Blue Sapphire Pack."
With a reassuring smile, Luna Chiko squeezes Kaylie's hand, silently urging her to reconsider. "Let's go back to Blue Sapphire Pack and tackle this challenge together. We'll find a way to protect our pack and ensure everyone's safety. Together, we're stronger than any dark magic Huiwi can throw at us."
Melda's voice then chimes in, "Luna Chiko You are right. Running away isn't the solution, Luna Kaylie. You were so optimistic before, even saying we'd send back her black magic via FedEx. So why the sudden urge to flee? We need to fight. Because the power of witch Huiwi is immense, and I can't send back her black magic. The only way I can help you is by giving you water and herbs that I've enchanted." She hands us a jug of water and a bag of dried herbs. "When the rain falls, sprinkle this water and herbs into the main water source for the entire pack. That way, they can drink and bathe without fear of the dark spell. Just remind them not to drink from the river or rainwater. If they do, they'll surely be affected by the dark spell and turn into people who really despise you. Remember, it has to be at the main source of the spring. The water in this jug and the herbs in this bag need to be sprinkled."
Kaylie's determination is like a breath of fresh air, filling me with renewed hope. I watch as she gathers all the items Melda gave her, a sign that she's ready to face whatever challenges await us back in Blue Sapphire Pack. With Chiko by our side and the support of our husbands, we'll surely find the best way to ensure everyone's safety and peace of mind.
As I extend my hand to Kaylie, a smile spreading across my face, I say, "Let's go home."
Kaylie grasps my hand firmly, her voice brimming with determination. "Let's go home, Beta Rose. Let's fight together to make that witch go away."
With our spirits lifted and our resolve strengthened, we head back to Blue Sapphire Pack, ready to confront whatever obstacles lie ahead and emerge victorious together.
