Chapter 45

1540 Words
Nathan’s POV   “This is totally cool,” Remus uttered under his breath while wandering his eyes and admiring everything he saw.   The girls are busy chitchatting on the side as Mica pointed the buildings and say something about the place.   “That is the training field where you practice and enhance your abilities. Be it magical or psychic...” I heard Mica explained until I froze in spot when I saw a familiar face walking towards our direction.   “Is that –“   “Sir Christian!” I called and waved at him. He waved back and bows his head at us and smiled.   “It’s good to have you back and look, you already gather up a team...” he scans Remus, Carina and Maria from head to toe and smiles warmly before handing them his palm for a hand shake.   Carina and Remus gladly accepted it but Maria’s eyes are full of hesitation. Her twin taps her back gently and she took a deep breath before slowly grabbing his hand. When their palms met, Maria’s eyes turned a total white while her body was shaking. Carina pulled her out from the hand shake and the unusual eyes turned back to normal and her body stops shaking, though she is panting and catching her breath.   “You’ve lost your family from arson. You don’t have to blame yourself for you are still young and had no control of your ability yet.” She said in a monotonous voice and smiled weakly at him before turning her back against us and walking forward without looking back even if we called her multiple times.   “What was that?” I asked Carina who was just staring at her sister’s back until it goes out of sight. The university is wide but I guess we’ll just find her later when she’s a bit okay.   “Just give her time. This is the first time since we were a child that she was surrounded by people, especially people like us and it overwhelms her ability so...” She smiled weakly at me as she took a step forward and starts walking. She is just a few inches away when she turned her head and nods at us.   “Besides, it’s not easy to know everyone’s past in just a single touch, right?” She shook her head and followed her twin until she’s also no longer in our sight.   “Does that mean her ability is a bit similar from yours?” Mica asked from my side. I turn my gaze at her and nod my head as I check my hands covered with these special gloves. Good think Antonov had spare copy of this before I lost mine in the rest room in Vegas.   “Why? What is his ability? I never see him show it when I joined here...” Remus interfered and touched my gloves.   “Nothing even happened. What are you hiding in –“   “I can drain your energy and make you unconscious in just a single touch,” he pulled his hand away while his eyes are widen in shock as fear showed through it. Mica lightly taps him on the back that made him startled and took a step back until he stepped on Gene who looks like he was lost in his thoughts.   “I’m sorry, man. I didn’t know his ability is too powerful –“ Gene glared at him and release a fire ball from his hands. He was about to throw it when Mica glared at her and pulled Remus away from him.   Gene shook his head and walks away, bumping my shoulders before totally leaving the area.   “What is with people today? They all keep walking away,” Mica uttered and shook her head. I weakly smile at Remus and then shifted my gaze at Sir Christian who’s eyes are locked into Gene who was walking away.   “Yes, you both have the same ability...” I said to him. He slowly turns his head to me with a shock expression on his face.   “How did you know that I also have the fire ability?” He asked suspiciously that made me froze a bit.   ‘Stupid, Sal. Of course you wouldn’t know as Nathan.’ I cursed in my mind and laughs nervously.   “Of course I heard it from Maria. She said you unintentionally created arson which means you unintentionally produced fire to...” I stopped in my tracks when Mica pinched my back and widen her eyes at me. I face palmed mentally when I realize I’m being too insensitive despite the past that Maria told a while ago.   “Hey, it’s okay. At least I have someone to teach to prevent creating the same mistake and... A whole new squad and I can already foresee your success just like the Monster Hunters are.” He nods at us and waves his hand in the air before walking out and instructing students from the training field who was watching us all the time while waiting for Sir Christian, their instructor to come.   “Let’s get moving. We’re blocking the way,” I told them and walk our way to the office. -- “Yes, please get that thing over here. That shouldn’t be left out as well.” I overheard Dean Peter even if we are a few miles away from his office. We are now a few inch away from the door when it suddenly flew open and revealed the Dean with loosen tie and a bit messy hair.   “Can you please also get the...” He was about to shout at his assistant when he saw us at the door. He stopped for a while and scratches the back of his head. He smiled awkwardly at us and gently closed the door. We were just standing there for a minute when Gene, Carina and Maria walk their way towards us, exactly as Dean Peter opened up the doors and welcomed us. His hair is already neat and his tie is knotted formally. He also buttoned his coat unlike a while ago that his under shirt is being seen.   “Welcome back, my dear students. Good thing that...” He stopped for a moment when he saw the three other members stand beside us.   “Hello there, Dean. We already gathered our members to form a team,” I said proudly. He smiled and took a step back, allowing us to have space in the doorway.   “Come in... I’ve been waiting for you,” he gladly said and leads us into his office. When we got there, there are several boxes and piles of folders and papers on his desk. His assistant is putting those papers in separate boxes with labels in them.   “I’m sorry for the untidiness. Let’s just sit over here to discuss matters with you.” He cleared the table and his assistant offered us seats. When everything is set, he started talking.   “First of all, I would like to welcome you to Caeulum Academy, the academy for people with magical and psychic abilities...” He smiled and offered his hands to us one by one. When it was Maria’s turn, she shook her head and smiled politely.   “I’m sorry, I don’t want to see anybody’s past without any permission to do it...” She softly said and held her twin’s arms.   Dean Peter nodded understandingly and gave us individual folders.   “That will be your schedule for your class. Also, please go to the assessment booth on the right wing of the academy for us to know what are your skills and abilities and also to know in which special class you would belong...” He said. After a few more interrogations and all, he stands up and leads us the way to his door.   “I’m sorry I’m a bit busy to get to know all of you. I’ll make it up to you soon,” he apologetically said as he waved his hand on us. Before we got away, I turned my head and asked him the question that lingers on my head as soon as I enter his office.   “Why are there boxes and files piled and packed up?” I asked. The rest of the squad stopped and listen at the conversation and know the answer that I’m sure they are also willing to know.   Dean Peter smiled at us and his next words made us all froze for the revelation I never expected to hear...   “Ah, I forgot to tell you that I’m leaving this campus... for good. For I will now be transferring to the main campus...   In Caelum Academy: The land of Celestial and Mythical Beings.”
