Chapter 54

Nathan’s POV

Earlier...

“A man with a cursed ability and brings chaos to his team and me whose ability is a blessing that can copy others...” Ulysses said and stopped walking when they are already in the mid line.

I didn’t answer and just smirk at his remark. I’m itching to remove the gloves from his hands and suck out all the energy force from the man in front of him. He took a deep breath and calmed himself as a smile crept into his lips.

“It would be too easy and fast if I use my ability on you so let’s take it slower and... more painful.” I answered back and laughs on his mind when he saw Ulysses expression change into a grim one.

“You’re quite cocky but I like it...” Ulysses answered and smirk at him. “Do you really think I can’t copy that?” He meaningfully asked but is just answered by my laugh. All of their members including the audience and Sir Ichigo watched them carefully, especially me who is laughing hard and suddenly stop and stared blankly directly through his eyes.

“Well then if that’s the case...” I drew closer near him and whispers on his ear.

“Copy it if you can...”

Those words ignite the burning desire in their hearts and start the chaos everyone is anticipating to see.

“May the best team win...”

The blazing sun right above us is no match from the heat we are feeling now. I grabbed my weapon from my side and smirks at him. The long, sharp blade shines as the sun passes through it.

“A katana... Are you afraid of using your powers?” He smirked and released a ball of lightning from his hands. He aims it directly at me which I easily dodged. He transformed into a cheetah and speedily charged at me. I came crushing to the ground with my katana stopping him from fully getting dominant.

“Do you really think you can stop me with that blade of yours? You’re making me laugh,” he mocked and released vines all over our direction and strangles me below the ground.

I just shook my head by his reaction and stared at him dead in the eye.

“Funny how it comes from the man who uses other team mates ability...” His facial expression changed into a grim one and slaps me hard. He winced in pain and shakes his body as the electricity reflected and attacked him instead.

“Damn!” He shouted as he shifts back to his original form.

“Carina, OUT. Lexi, OUT.”

I turned my gaze to my team mate who is now bleeding as her skin is torn. Medics are getting them out and hurriedly escorted them to the infirmary.

‘I’ll get back to you later, Carina...’ I said at the back of my mind. I shifted my attention back to him only to be greeted by a damn hard kick on the face. His already back on his original form as his shape shifting team mate is now gone from the arena.

I’m sent flying to the edge and almost got out of the line when he charged at me again. I hurriedly rolled over, making him lose control and reflecting back and falling on to the grass after bouncing from the ring edge.

I held my katana tight and swing it to his direction while he’s still in daze. He tried dodging it but I still managed to cut on his arm that immediately starts to bleed. He holds it tight to prevent from bleeding profusely and that gave me a chance to attack.

 The field suddenly gets too hot and there I saw them...

Gene who looks so mad while punching another man so hard using his flaming fists. The field is already burning to the point that outsiders with water ability uses it to stop the fire from spreading.

“Billy, OUT. Gene, DISQUALIFIED.”

I turned my attention back to him and raised the katana and stab him only for it to be stuck on the ground when he suddenly vanished in thin air.

“Where the hell did he g—“

“Looking for me?” He mocked. Before I could turn my head, he grab my neck and strangle it while pulling my hair downwards.

“Damn!” I winced in pain as I felt my head getting banged at the cold ground in full force. Blood is already dripping from my nose when I heard another announcement from Sir Ichigo.

“Ameera, OUT.”

I turned my attention to Remus who is standing in front of a girl who is crying while kneeling in front of him. His face is void of any emotion while watching her.

He raised his hand in the air and let the girl float out to the arena safely. What he did next amazed the audience for he caught her and carried her in a bridal style before leaving the arena.

"Remus, OUT."

“Pain.” Ulysses whispered. I raised my eyebrows when he repeatedly chanted the word and his brows furrowed when it is not effecting on me.

He turned his head to the side of his male team mate and gritted his teeth when he heard what they said.

“I concede defeat.” Maria and the man whom I think is Derek said in unison. They both go out of the ring silently and went different paths as Sir Ichigo announced their downfall.

“Derek, OUT. Maria, OUT.”

I turned my attention back to Ulysses and wonders about his ability. Once his team mates are gone on the field, he also lost his connection to their power and is unable to use it. However, there is one thing that bothers me so much...

‘What is the extent of his ability to be able to copy someone else’ power?’

"Mica, OUT. Charles, OUT." 

I saw the unconscious and bleeding Mica being carried away by a tall man. I shook my head and roam my eyes as I saw that we are the only one left in the field.

I am already drenched in sweat and the wounds all over my body starts to bleed. We’ve been fighting non-stop and I have to admit he is quite great and trained in using his ability. Not until...

I held his hand tight and smirks at him before releasing it. I stifle a laugh and look at the ring wherein we are the only players left.

“You are good in using your group mates’ abilities but... Can you survive now that their all gone?” I mocked. This is the bad side of his ability. A while ago, I had to endure him spitting electricity on my direction. I also had to run away from his vines that keeps chasing me and everything his team mates ability have but now...

“Let’s finish this off now, shall we?” I asked and pointed the edge of the katana on him. He looks at me dead in the eye and in a swift motion, he managed to land a kick on my groin making me wince in pain. He tried grabbing the katana out of my hand but I didn’t let him until he slams my head with his making me feel dizzy and black out of a sudden.

I felt sudden chills as I can only see darkness. I tried moving but I can’t feel anything. Only the shouts from wherever keeps me sane and confirms that I’m still on the ring but...

‘Why can’t I move my body?’

I felt high voltage of electricity running to my body that sent me back to reality. I heard a voice winced hard in pain as the electric current bounces back on him and made him unconscious once more.

I blinked my eyes multiple times as I regain my senses only to see them staring at me with horror in their eyes. I slowly shifted my gaze to the katana I was holding and I stood frozen and let it fall from my hand when I saw how bloody it was.

“W-What happened?” I asked and slowly turn to the man in front of me who is now lying unconscious with multiple stabs on his body as he is bleeding profusely.

“Medic!” People shouts. I even saw Mica running towards our direction and used her abilities while waiting for the medic team to arrive. I took a couple of step back and look at my hands that is now covered with blood and trembling hard.

“Are you happy now?” I heard someone whispered from my side and saw that it was his team mate. I tried speaking but I stopped on my tracks as I felt air lacking from my lungs.

“H-Help me...” I tried seeking help but no one comes over. I can only see their fear stricken and mad face while staring at me.

“W-What is happening? P-Please tell me...” My mouth dries up and my voice cracked while trying to analyze what had happened.

I shook my head furiously and bangs it on the cold ground hoping it could show me what happened a while ago.

In an instant, I became a bloody criminal on their eyes and I don’t even know what I did earlier.

I knew I didn’t do it.

I knew I didn’t.

I knew it wasn’t me but...

If it’s not me, then...

Who?

I felt extreme exhaustion and pain as my body lay on the ground. I could still hear their murmurs and announcement as I slowly closed my eyes and drifts away.
