Ch. 1: Introduction

Hi,

Firstly, I would like to thank you for your interest in my story. I truly hope you enjoy it.

All I ask is that you please be kind with your messages. This is my first foray into writing and while I do hope to receive feedback, I would appreciate it if you kept it positive, constructive, and respectful. I will do my utmost best to respond to such criticism in a timely manner. However, if you simply flame me or are rude/disrespectful, I will simply overlook your message and move on.

Now, about this book.

I update daily sometime around 8pm (est, USA) and no later than 11pm (est, USA). You will find many chapters will have more than one character's point of view. I will always try to create a full scene in each chapter for you to enjoy before moving on to the next chapter. I don’t believe in using cliffhangers overly much, though I’m also not opposed to them if used sparingly. So don’t be overly surprised to find one or two. I write out my chapters on a different program and move them here for editing purposes, so hopefully, errors will be at a minimum. If a chapter is broken into parts, I will upload all parts of that chapter on the same day. I won't keep you hanging like that, I promise.

This book is for the 18+ year-old reader, only. There is adult language, s*xual content, and violence, etc throughout the story. I will not post warnings about these things. Likewise, I will not post trigger warnings either. I apologize upfront for anything that may be triggering to the reader. Unfortunately, there is so much in life that can be triggering for one person or another it makes such warnings difficult to keep up with. Also, such triggering events are covered under the “s*xual content” and “violence” warning already issued. So if you are sensitive to such things, or are under the age of 18, please do not read any further. If you do decide to read further, you do so at your own risk.

That being said, I will tell you now there are incidents in the book that include, but are not limited to: abuse, drug addiction, kidnapping, assault, and death. There are also scenes in the book where one or more characters are said to be speaking another language. I wrote this in American English (which is a bit different than actual English) so there may be phrases and terms you are unfamiliar with. However, where a language other than American English is used, you will likely see me write something like: “they spoke in fluent __”. Rather than put the lines in that language, then post a translation. Though there will be some phrases I will post in other languages or use acronyms for something like a text message for which I will also post its translation, but that will be exceedingly rare. I’m not into using other languages as fillers for word counts and, since I don’t know those languages myself, I’m not going to act like I do. I personally see that as disrespectful to other peoples around the world. So I choose to do it this way. Other writers may feel otherwise and that’s their prerogative.

Lastly, but certainly not leastly, I hope you have an enjoyable reading experience.
