Ruby
*beep* *beep*
"Ugh. What is that noise? It's too early" I groaned. Putting my pillow over my head.
*beep* *beep*
"That damn alarm is too noisy" I grumbled to myself. Lifting my pillow off my head, I slammed my hand on my alarm, to make it stop beeping. I checked what time it is with one eye open. It was seven thirty. Crap!
"s**t! I'm going to be late for my first day back" I rushed out. I jumped out of bed and went to the bathroom to freshen up. Once I'm done freshen up, I put on some clothes. I was wearing blue jeans, black, long sleeves top and black 3 inch, ankle boots. I brushed my long, wavy black hair and tied it into a bun. Not bothing to put on make up, I went straight to the kitchen, to grab something to eat before I head to my first day pack at school.
I heard someone beeping outside my house. I guess it's time to leave.
"Pops, I'm leaving. See you after school" I yelled out.
"Wait!" pops yelled out. There was some grumbling and some ruffling upstairs. I heard havey foot steps coming down stairs.
"Let me give you some money before you go to school" He said gruffly. My pops was a six feet tall man. He has olive skin, short brown hair with grey steaks. He was muscular with a little fat around the bell and a trimmed beard. He had Hazel eyes and a few winkles on his face but he looked handsome, I personally think.
"I don't need money, pops. I'm good" I said simple. He just scoffed.
"Don't be silly. You need to eat during school, no?" he stated and gave me twenty dollars.
"Ok. Thanks pops" I said greatfully and taking the money from him.
"Don't mention it, miracle" he said softly. You probably wondering why he calls me that. I'm adopted. He was alcoholic and was drunk when he found me in an alleyway. He was about to head home when he heard me crying. He said I was wrapped up with a thin, white blanket with grey bunnies on it. It was a chilly night when pops found me and took me to the hospital. The doctor told him it was a miracle that I was alive in the cold. They told him that I didn't have a fever or any serious injuries or any medical condition. Since then, pops decided that he'll take me in. He sobered up and never had a drink after that. That's is why he calls me miracle. He said that I saved him as he saved me.
I there was another beep outside. I grumbled. They're so Impatient. Pops laughed.
"I think it's time for you to leave" he chuckled. He gave me a bear hug and a kiss on the forehead.
"Have a good day back at school, sweetheart" He said.
"Will do. See you later pops" I said and hugging him back. I went out of the house, closing the door behind me. There was another beep behind me. I turned around to see a black Jeep parked out side the house. I walked up to it and got in.
"Impatient much?" I said annoyed.
"I don't want you to be late for your first day back" My friend Orlando said simple. Shrugging his shoulders.
"You mean our first day back" I corrected him. He just rolled his eyes.
"Yeah whatever" he grumbled and started driving. Me and Orlando are best friends since I could remember. He's like a brother to me and he is over protective of me. He was six feet and three inches tall. He has black, short hair, shaven on the sides and has some hair at the front that cover his forehead. He has piercing on his ears, nose and lips. He has tan skin and has tattoos along both his arms. He has emerald green eyes.
He's your typical bad boy. He gets into fights, smokes and no respect for authority. He does what he wants and doesn't care what people think. He's gay and likes to sleep around. His motto is the 'triple F' find, f**k and forget. To be honest, if we met now, I know we wouldn't of been friends.
"I got you breakfast. It's in the bag, on the back seat" he said and pointing behind him.
"You didn't need to get me breakfast. I grabbed something at home" I stated.
"Let me guess, a cereal bar" I said simply. I scoffed.
"There is nothing wrong with a cereal bar" I reasoned. Orlando just snorted.
"Just take the bag" he said. I took the bag and opened it.
"Aww a cupcake and it's my favourite. Mint chocolate chip. Your the best" I said excitedly, taking a bite in chocolaty goodness. I moaned to the taste. This sounds dramatic but If I die now, I'll die a happy person.
"That good, huh?" He teased. I nodded.
"Hmmm" is all I said cause I was busy enjoying the cupcake. He was laughing at my excitement.
"There's a bottle of orange juice in the bad as well" Orlando said simple. It wasn't long that we made it to school. Orlando parked the car at the front of the school. He hoped out of the car and went over my side to open the door for me.
"You know I am more than capable of opening my own door" I stated. He shrugged.
"I know but I'm going to do it anyway so there's no point argue about" he said simply. I rolled my eyes and we headed in. His arm around my shoulder.
As we were walking down the hall, I noticed a few girls staring at him and whispering to each other. This isn't the first time neither. This happened all the time and there was sometimes where some girls asked me if he's single and I always tell them that he's not interested in girls but they don't believe me and assumed that I'm being selfish and keeping him to myself.
"You do know those girls are checking you out, right?" I asked. Orlando looked over and flipped them. They gasped and looked away.
"Now they not" he said not bothered and He walked me to my locker. As I was at my locker, I heard someone shouting my name.
"Ruby, there you are. I was wondering what took you so long" A loud voice shouted behind me.
"Ugh, that still here" Orlando grumbled. I elbowed him in the ribs.
"Ooff" He groaned and gave me 'what was that for?' Look.
"Behave. You don't have to be an asshole" I whispered yelled and giving him a pointed look. He just rolled his eyes as he was rubbing his ribs. I turned round to face the person, who was calling me.
"Oh hey, Robin, how you doing?" I asked softly.
"Hey girl, I've been waiting for you by the food hall" Robin stated. I've known Robin for three years now and we've been friends ever since. She has short, chestnut hair that is shaped as a bulb. She has dark olive skin complexion and have a birthmark that covers her right eye. She's five feet four like me. Robin was in the cheerleader squad but she ain't bitchy like some of the cheerleaders. She gets with anyone except for Orlando. Them two butt heads alot.
"Orlando" Robin greeted coldly.
"Robin" Orlando replied just as coldly. They both was glaring at each other. I swear to god, you can cut the attention with a knife. Clearing my throat.
"Any who, think it's time for me and Robin to go now. I'll see you later Orlando" I said as I pulled Robin away.
"I'll pick you up after school. Don't make me find you if you're late" He shouted out.
"Ok but no promises" I shouted over my shoulder.
"I mean it Ruby. Don't make me wait" he said seriously. I know he means it.
"Ok dad, I won't. geeze" I said dismissively and waving my hand at him.
"How are you two even friends? He's so bossy and controlling. Franklyhe's so damn rude" Robin grumbled.
"He's just over protective. That's all" I shrugged.
"There's over protective and there's controlling" she mumbled under her breath. I just ignored her and head to the admissions office when Robin stopped me in my tracks.
"Why have you stopped me? I need to go to the admissions office" I asked.
"There's no need for you to go to admission office. I got your timetable for this year already" she stated simply.
"Oh! thanks, you didn't need to do that" I said simply. She just shrugged. She handed me my timetable and I looked at.
"What do you have first?" I asked at the sametime looking at her timetable.
"Maths" she groaned.
"Me too" I said with a sign of relief. I love maths nut Robin loathed it.
"I hate maths. Numbers confuse me" she whined. I laughed at her childish behaviour.
"It ain't that bad and anyways, you got me to help you" I assured her. She beamed.
"Yes. That's right. I'm not totally doomed" she said dramatically.
"Over dramatic much" I joked. She just shoved me and we headed to our class. Once we made it, we sat in the middle of the classroom; as soon as we sat down, the bell ranged and the teacher came in, getting started with the lessons.
****************************************************
It was lunchtime and me and Robin was in the food hall, waiting in line for our food.
"Thank god it's lunchtime. I'm starving" Robin said.
"Same. I'm starving as well" I agreed. We grabbed our food and sat at a table, and started eating our food. I had chicken salad sandwich, fries, an apple and a bottle of water. Robin had cheese burger, fries, a chocolate bar and grape soda. For a cheer leader, she eats a lot of chunk food. Where does her food go?
"How the hell you can eat some much junk food and still be slim?" I wondered.
"It called fast metabolism, darling" she mused. I rolled my eyes and continued eating.
"I heard there's going to be a party this Saturday. A welcome back party and all the seniors are invited" Robin said excitedly.
"And let me guess, you want me to come with you" I asked suspiciously.
"Yes. I think it would be fun and dare I say you might enjoy yourself" she teased.
"That is the possibility" I said, shrugging.
"Sooooo is that a yes?" She asked hopeful.
"Yes, sure, why not? It is our last year of high school after all" I said sincerely. Robin grinned. She leaped out of her seat and tackled me.
"Yay. I'm so glad you agreed. We're going to have fun. I just know it" she said cheerfully as she was hugging me tightly.
"Me too and can you let go now. You're hugging me too tight" I struggled out.
"Oh! Sorry" She said apologetically and let me go. Robin got back to her seat and we continued finishing our food. Once we were done, we tidy up and went our separate ways to class. We only had two class together; maths and biology. The next thing I know it, it was home time. When I was at my locker, to put my books in, there was a commotion outside the school and everyone was running to see what's going on.
"There's a fight going on and it looked intense" a student shouted over the crowds.
"First Day Back and there's already a fight broke loose" another student said annoyed and everyone went outside. I followed to see what's going on and when I got out side, there was a huge crowd at the school's parking lot. I noticed Robin in the crowd and squeezed past people to get to her.
"What's going on? Who's fighting?" I asked.
"I don't know. I can't see with all the people in the way" she said.
"Lets push through to find out" I suggested. Robin nodded her head in agreement and we pushed through the crowd. Once we made to the front, I saw it was Orlando fighting some guy. Robin scoffed to the scene.
"Of course it would him. Who else would be in a fight" Robin said annoyed. I sighed. I thought of known.
