5 In many ways, Jack was pleased about Mildenheath Police’s staff shortages and swingeing budget cuts. For starters, it meant he was often able to get out of the office and speak to witnesses himself — something which would have been left to DCs or uniformed constables in most other situations. Jack had read the notes written up by Theo Curwood, as well as Trinity Lloyd’s statement detailing Ian Gumbert’s relaxed attitude towards security.
