It’s been a week since Gino, you know the guy I saved from those three creeps, has been staying with me. It’s a little awkward at times because he has been living alone the majority of his life. I don’t force myself in his business but he seems to be very interested in mine.
“Gino, I’m heading out to work.” I call out.
He nodded at me, and I felt his eyes watch me as I walked out the door. To be honest with you, I don’t have a job that I need to go to. I just said that I did because it will be such a pain to explain why I’m able to afford rent and no work.
I just stay within the vicinity and survey the areas and make sure he’s safe.
Apparently, he’s been living alone for the past couple of years. His family died in a tragic traffic accident, and his relatives didn’t want to take him in. Which is pretty shitty if you ask me. You call yourself his family and yet you let him live on his own at a very young age.
Young for me, but old for them. He is currently 26 years old, so don’t go thinking sick things. I may be f****d up in the head, but not to that extent.
That’s pretty much everything I know about him. As I’ve said, he usually keeps to himself.
Before it gets too dark, I headed back home, I didn’t want to leave him alone for too long.
SIMP.
When I reached the unit, I found Gino asleep on the couch. He was binge-watching a series. I took a blanket from my room and put it over his body. He flinches at the contact and slowly opened his eyes.
“You’re home…” he sleepily mutters.
“Yeah, I am.” I reply.
No s**t, Sherlock.
“How was work?” he says as he stretched.
“Tiring but okay. I’ll go get started on dinner.” I say as I head over to the kitchen.
I have been eating in front of him so he doesn’t get all too suspicious about me. I can eat, it’s just not something I like putting in my mouth and in my body.
That’s what she said.
I started pulling out the meat, peas, and corn from the fridge.
“How do you like your steak?” I asked.
“Um… Cooked.” he replies.
I fought back a smile.
I started on our steaks making his medium rare, and mine a little bloody than anybody would really prefer. I steamed the vegetables and put a little butter and seasoned them to taste. I may not eat, but I still know how to cook you may never know when a situation rises up and you need to be eating in front of people.
I plated our food, and set it down on the table.
“Dinner’s ready.” I called out.
“Coming.” he says as he makes his way to the kitchen.
“This looks amazing as always, Celine.” he says once again as he pulled a chair to sit down.
We ate in silence. As I ate my steak, it dawned on me that I haven’t gone out for a hunt in a while, and I am incredibly thirsty. Maybe tomorrow I’ll go out for a quick hunt. Why not tonight you ask? I am not leaving Gino here by himself in the middle of the night and with the higher possibility that he gets attacked while I’m away. At least when it’s early, I can leave him in the care of his fellow humans and I can have an extra pair of eyes watching him.
“I need you to run some errands for me tomorrow.” I said, breaking the silence.
“What do you need me to do?” he asks.
“ I just need you to buy a few things for me.” I replied.
“Okay, just leave me a list and I’ll get it done.” he says.
“But don’t come home right after, stay at the cafe near the building. I will come and get you once I get off of work. I just don’t want you to be staying here on your own. Is that clear?” I said.
“I understand.” he says with a toothy smile.
