TIFFANY’S POV
I love Theon and Theon and seeing him walk away from me makes me feel like someone has poured gasoline over my heart and set fire on it. I mean? What have I done for him to hurt me like this? After he escaped death narrowly he has been so unpredictable. I never expected us to propose to me just immediately but he did. Also, I never expected him to keep leaving me to go to see her sister and that is what he has been doing since he started living with me.
We were drifting apart and I never wanted that to happen. I love him so much and I just want his attention to be on me and no one else.
As far as he said that I should not follow him to Tessa’s place, I couldn’t stay here with my heart feeling broken. I had to go and find out on my own what he is up to. Theon is always up to something when we fight and I had to go and find out.
I tried checking his documents in the house to try and find something that would lead to something but it was all in vain. Therefore I packed my bag and got ready. I called my boss and lied to her that I was sick so she should give me two weekdays off and just like a message from God himself, she agreed to my request.
I showered and ended up wearing a white crop top with Grey sweat pants. I completed the look with a white converse before I left the house. I took a cab to the airport and I was just in time to pay so as to leave with the first flight leaving.
The entire journey was boring, I kept listening to music to avoid the fact that things might not be going well with my relationship. It was such a long while and taking a cab to Tessa’s place was such a relief.
I got to her door and rang the door hoping that my fiancée will get the door for me. It was a rude shock when Tessa did. Okay, I don’t blame her, maybe Theon is not really here.
“Hi sister,” I hugged her after she welcomed me in the house.
“Hello dear,” She arched her lips upwards and welcomed me to the house.
“What can I offer you the lady who stole my brother’s heart,” Tessa joked and I chuckled.
“Scotch on rocks please,” I was so serious about this.
“What! Are you grieving or something? It is hardly 11:00am,” She arched her brows up in confusion.
“Please get me that, we will get to talk to that later,” I groaned.
“Well okay,” She scoffed and I took a deep breath to try and feel better.
She served me my request and I took my first gulp before I asked for my fiancee.
“Is Theon sleeping? Where is he?” I asked.
“He left very early in the morning to do some research work.” Tessa tattled.
“Which research?” I was startled because he never told me about this.
“On sea plant and how it will cure viral infections,” Tessa explained.
“Okay, I will just go in and have a rest. I am pretty tired.” I told Tessa before I headed upstairs to make myself comfortable in the room where my fiancée and I normally sleep when we come visiting her sister.
“Ok dear,” She jested.
It was really draining to learn what he is up to from someone else yet I am the lady he wants to marry.
I lazily threw my bas on the floor and jumped on the bed to try and absorb everything. I felt low and bad to have to go through this for reasons I don’t understand. I love to be in control but right now he is treating me like someone he does not care about.
I didn’t know I fell asleep till I woke up feeling sweaty all over. I had a weird dream that Theon had left me for some weird girl and that s**t freaked me out. I really don’t know if I will get over it when he actually does that. I know he cannot love me. He proposed to me and the only thing left now is to get married to him in a ceremony held in church.
I took a shower to calm my nerves before I changed to a sunny dress. I was going to wait for him and ask him why he is doing this to me yet I am the girl he wants to marry.
I was doing my makeup to probably go out with Tessa so that I can tell her everything going in our marriage when the unexpected happened. My makeup brush dropped and as I was going to pick it under the bed, I managed to find an old book whose Title is “ALL ABOUT THE MERMAIDS.”
This got my attention first because I love to read stories about mermaids and other paranormal creatures like Vampire and werewolf. Secondly, I wondered why Theon was so interested in mermaids.
Theon is not the type to believe in supernatural creatures and for one second I thought that it belonged to Tessa.
“Tessa,” I called her.
“Yes, tell me,” She joined me in her brother’s room.
“Is this your book?” I handed her the book.
“All about the mermaids, come on. This is not my book. First of all, I don’t believe in mermaids.” She handed me the book back.
“To mean, Theon is the one reading it,” I told her.
“Okay,” She didn’t seem to get what I was saying.
“Does Theon love mermaids?” I asked her.
“No, he is the one who even made me stop believing in mermaids,” I mumbled.
“Then why does he have this book?” I asked her trying to get the pieces together.
“I don’t know,”
“Has he asked you about mermaids recently?” I implored.
“Yes, why?”
“I think he is up to something with mermaids. He also asked me the same questions,” I tried to fill in the loop holes.
“It can be true,” She jested.
“I think he went to the ocean to look for a mermaid, not the plant he was talking about,” I told Tessa and she nodded.
“Maybe he met a mermaid the day he drowned because ever since the drowning is when he started talking about the mermaid staff.” Tessa added.
“I think we should leave and go to get that exact information from him,” I urged. I wanted to confront Theon over the same.
Maybe he has a good study about the mermaids and I was not understanding him enough. As his fiancée, I have to be there for him. I have to give him all the support he needs. Maybe I was overreacting all this time.
“Yea, let us go and see what he is up to,” Tessa agreed with me and we took his car and drove by the ocean.
The operation was still ongoing thus we had to wait till it was complete so that we could have a word with him. He really owed us a big one and he really had to take us out for dinner and tell us what he is really up to.
It was around dusk when they come out of the waters. We waited patiently for him but failing to see him with the people who helped in the search was weird. He couldn’t possibly have left them to do the job on their own. I knew my man so well, he had to be a part of the team.
“Hello facilitator,” One of the life guards directed us to him
“Hello, how can I help you?” He seemed uneasy but we chose to ignore that point.
“I am Theon’s sister and I have come her to check on him in his search for the mermaids,” Tessa explained.
“Did he tell you he was coming to find a specific mermaid girl?” The facilitator ask.
“Yes, he told us that,” I lied.
“Okay, maybe he told you that if we were not successful in finding her then he would dive in the ocean,” He scoffed and I could feel blood gushing in my system.
“What did you just say?” I asked once again hoping he could say a different thing.
“Theon Woods jumped off the ship to save a particular mermaid called Genesis,” He sighed. “If you may excuse me,”
“How could you possibly have left him to drown,” Tessa yelled following him.
Tears had already started flowing down my cheeks uncontrollably like water from a faulty tap.
“It was not in my control, read this note.” He gave Tessa the note and Tessa come back with it so that we could read it together.
Genesis, you saved me once and I am going to risk my life so as to save you. I am not afraid of mermaids anymore. I want to meet you and talk to you. I am coming for you dear.
