Johan POV
Today is the day my new bride arrives in Lucland. I have not bothered asking about her name because I am not interested. She must be another useless she-wolf my uncle chose to keep an eye on me.
I have always found a way to get rid of them and she was not going to be an exception.
The last thing I want is having a snitch in my estate reporting my every move to my uncle, the King.
I have managed to fool everybody in this Kingdom that I am nothing but a useless crippled Man.
My hatred for my uncle runs deep in my veins and there is not a single day that passes without thinking about countless ways to end his pathetic Life.
He is a traitor and a murderer, killing his own brother and wife to steal the throne.
That accident that claimed my parents' lives was also the one that landed me in a wheelchair.
It took me years to recover but even after I did, I remained in my wheelchair.
It was a good move to make everybody believe that I am useless and I pose no threat to them.
For the past five years however, I have been planning and secretly plotting to overthrow the current King and take back the position that rightfully belongs to me.
As my father's eldest son, I was supposed to succeed him after his demise but my uncle used the excuse of me being crippled to show that I am not fit to be the next king.
As my father's immediate brother, it went without asking that only he could take the position of the King until I recovered.
He never showed the intention of stepping down over the years. My investigation about my parent's death pointed to him and that's when I understood it was his plan all along to get rid of my parents and take over the kingdom of Lucland.
I was not convinced that the crash was an accident, someone wanted to eliminate my parents.
The doorknob was twisted and the door pushed open.
I was standing near the window, my gaze directed to the garden below the west wing of the palace.
" Johan, the girl is here and I'm sure your uncle will be here any moment." Morgan, my trusted friend informed me.
I had seen the car pull up at the parking lot.
" Good." I replied as I made my way back to the room.
" You should be more careful, I looked into her information and she is not a simple one " Morgan cautioned and I nodded.
Morgan has been my confidant and best friend since we were young. He is among the few people who remained loyal to me and so was his family.
He is my eyes and ears in this Kingdom as well as my right hand Man.
Minutes later, my door was knocked twice.
" Come in." I shouted and seconds later, my Uncle sauntered in, followed by a lady whom I presumed to be my new bride.
" Johan, I came to introduce to you your bride. This is Sultana Black. You two will get married in the next Blue moon." He said all smiles.
" Sultana, meet Prince Johan, your husband to be." He said, turning to look at the woman who had trained her eyes on my legs.
She forced a smile on her face and nodded at me.
" Nice to meet you Prince Johan." She finally said but I could feel something that sounded like sarcasm in her words.
I said nothing, just nodded at her while I observed the woman before me.
" Okay,I'll leave you two to get to know each other. Sultana dear, the maids will prepare your room. I hope you enjoy your stay here." My uncle said, smiling warmly at the woman.
" Thank you, king Balmus." She bowed slightly as my uncle exited my room.
I regarded the woman in front of me who was now smiling at me. The smile was not seductive, it was one filled with scorn.
" For a disabled Man, you sure have strong legs." She commented, her hands wrapping themselves on her chest.
I could feel the sarcasm dripping from each word that escaped her mouth. She had a smirk dancing at the corner of her lips making me glare at her.
" I don't know what you are talking about." I replied, trying my best not to lose my cool.
I don't know if she caught something about my condition or she was just bluffing.
" Quit pretending, prince Johan. You and I both know that you are not crippled, at least not now." She countered, her lips curled up in mockery.
I gritted my teeth in hatred. Morgan was right when he said she is not a simple woman.
What was she playing at? Was she trying to force the truth out of my mouth?
" Oh don't be angry. Your little secret is safe with me." She said, smiling before winking at me.
She was really annoying me and all I wanted was to walk to her and slam her on the wall. I knew that I could not do that. It would risk having my secret discovered.
I wasn't going to risk that so I decided to play along.
" What do you want Malyshka?" I asked, smiling down at the woman who growled at me.
The playfulness in her voice was gone in an instant and replaced by a cold and distant expression on her face.
Her mood flipped too sudden, making me doubt she is a bipolar.
" I am not here to fulfil the role of a dutiful wife." Her voice was hard as she spat those words, a glare directed to me.
" I beg your pardon Miss, I am not in need of a wife nor will I appreciate someone like you as my wife " I replied and she seemed taken aback by my words before she relaxed.
" That's perfect. Stay in your lane, I'll keep my own. I am not interested in whatever feuds happening in your family. I need my peace." She said, looking straight into my eyes.
I could tell she meant every word she said.
" How am I supposed to know you ain't here on uncle's orders to spy on me?" I asked and she chuckled mirthlessly.
" Do I look like I am interested in whatever goes on between the two of you? You can butcher each other, for all I care. I don't take orders from anyone either." She replied, her arms akimbo.
" I hope we have a deal?" She asked and I nodded.
" Well then, I'm off." She said as she sauntered out of the room, head held up high.
I smiled to myself, thinking about how fearless the lady was when speaking with me.
She had that flaming fire in her eyes and her expressions spelled defiance. She is a feisty one, that I could tell.
" Interesting." I murmured.
" What is interesting?" Morgan said, emerging from the bathroom where he had hid himself earlier.
" Nothing." I replied, looking away.
Morgan regarded me before walking to settle on my bed.
" Do you believe her?" He asked me.
I knew he was talking about the words the Lady said to me.
She didn't pass to me like a person who would want to be controlled, making me wonder why she ended up here in the first place.
" I don't know, time will tell." I answered.
I hoped and prayed she wasn't here to work as my uncle's spy.
If she could stay away from my business, I would reconsider keeping her around. Otherwise the moment I realise she is snitching on us, I'll kick her out myself.
" Give me more information about her. I need to know everything about her." I instructed my friend who nodded before leaving the house.
I could feel that she was trustworthy but I needed to know what kind of a person she is.
