Olivia POV
After running through the woods for hours, I fell exhausted to the ground in the middle of nowhere. However when I opened my eyes I met a young girl, I could immediately identify that she was also an omega like me and that she was alone.
"Who are you?" I asked somewhat frightened, fearing she was someone dangerous.
"My... My name is Bree" She said, apparently scared of me as well.
Bree was a couple of years younger than me, she had lived her whole life in the human world until her mother died and she was found by her half-brother, who was a beta werewolf. Bree is a half-human wolf, so she was probably the weakest omega I ever met in my life, who even couldn't transform into a wolf even when she tried.
The bond we formed was almost immediate, she was only just turned 17, and still behaved like an adorable little girl, so even though I was only a couple of years older, I became like her big sister, deciding to take care of her. Bree took me to the cave where she had been living for almost a year, waiting for her brother. We both stayed there for one night, but when I told her that I had to keep running away because I was in danger of my pack members coming after me, she didn't hesitate and decided to go with me.
"And do you know where you're going?" asked Bree confused.
"Well... My father used to tell me about a place, a big pack, led by a very good alpha, who always cared and cared for everyone no matter if they were alphas or omegas, and they welcomed any stranger who came to their land" I explained to Bree.
"That sounds like a wonderful place... But do you know where it is?"
"My father told me it was on the other side of the lake, but I... I don't even know where that lake is. I'm hoping that if we head east we'll find the lake everyone's talking about, so we can find that place."
I didn't really have an exact plan, my idea had always been to escape, but now that I had Bree's life depending on me, I wasn't quite sure where I should go.
Together with Bree, we left the forest heading east, walking for several days and nights, sleeping in the open or in other caves, avoiding contact with the outside for fear of running into members of my stupid pack.
After almost a week, we stopped at a very high mountain, which was near a large city, which I could guess was populated by werewolves like us. I had never considered myself a thief, but we had run out of supplies, and I needed to keep Bree healthy, so I was forced to invade the town to steal some food.
With much embarrassment, I took some clothes and supplies from the houses on the outskirts of town, but I didn't want to take too much, as I didn't want to take advantage of the poor villagers who lived there. However, even from the outskirts of the city, I could see the great mansion that almost looked like a castle in the center of the place. Even without knowing this place, I could easily know that this place was the house where the alpha leader of this city lived.
***
Just as I had thought, the big house in the center of that village was the home of the pack's alpha. It wasn't easy to get here, but I hoped the reward would be worth all my effort, so I didn't stop my advance for a single moment.
It was now my responsibility to take care of Bree, I had to do this for her.
I was surprised to notice that the alpha's house was unguarded, in my pack the leader's house was surrounded by betas guards, but in this town, there was only a low fence, which I jumped over to approach the mansion with ease. I circled the building until I found an open window, which I used to enter the mansion. I knew I had time against me, so I didn't get distracted by this luxurious and beautiful place, I didn't want to steal money or valuables, I just wanted food and maybe clothes to get out of there.
Walking out of the room I was in, I noticed that this place was empty, I didn't see any guards or other living beings in the corridors, and I still left each room with caution, looking through the door before moving forward.
Arriving at the entrance of the mansion I saw a spectacular staircase, which was unique to all the floors of the house, and on the roof, there were several windows surrounding a beautiful glass chandelier. I never thought I would see something so beautiful, so I just admired that beautiful image.
Remembering what I was supposed to do, I forced myself to keep walking around the place. I did not know in which direction was the kitchen of that great mansion, but in that room I could see several trays with snacks, which I did not hesitate to take, taking all the trays with food that were in sight.
"Who are you?"
Startled, I drop the last tray of snacks and turn in the direction of that male voice, finding a shirtless man staring at me.
From his scent and appearance, it didn't take me long to notice that he was an alpha. He was very tall, with dark brown hair, but with beautiful golden eyes that looked extremely bright, his face was slightly damp with sweat, and his lips looked strangely appetizing as if he wanted to taste them...
"I... I..." I whispered not knowing what to say.
I didn't like alpha males, all my life I had suffered humiliation being an omega, so I saw them all as evil, unfeeling creatures, who always wanted to hurt me. But this stranger looked very calm, he had probably been exercising by the scent he had, something that made me feel even hotter because being shirtless I could see his well-formed muscles, wishing once again I could touch them.
"You're not housekeeping, are you?" He asked in an unusually kind voice: "I haven't seen you before, neither here nor in town, I don't recognize your scent..."
My scent? I didn't understand why that mysterious alpha was talking about something impossible, for several years now I hadn't had a scent, that's why I hadn't found a mate until now, how could he say he sensed my scent?
"Did you come in to steal?" He asked calmly.
Realizing I had been discovered, I quickly hid my backpack behind my back, fearfully looking at him.
"I don't think those ceramic trays are worth too much money, you must have taken anything else from the house, you are a terrible thief..." He said, approaching me.
"I wasn't... I didn't come to steal anything I could sell" I replied immediately.
"You didn't? Then let me see your backpack, and I'll let you walk out of here through the front door, like the honorable omega you surely are."
My breathing practically stopped when he gave me that order. Fear ran through my whole body and I didn't know what to do.
I had to escape from this dangerous situation now.
