Chapter 07: Things Never Changed   The kid let go of the hug. “Goodnight Mom, and Dad,” kissing both cheeks of the adults as he went to their room and closed the door. “Uhm---” before Elliot could finish his sentence, a hand pulled his hair firmly. He grimaced. “To-Tomás!” he looked at him in horror. He was frightened. “That’s why you moved out of town because you are finding another man. You are whoring once again. You are hungry for d**k, aren’t you,” he insulted Elliot. “Wha-What are you saying? I-I’m not like that, Tomás,” he said. “Oh, really?!” he gnashed his teeth. “You’re not the Elliot that allowed my Dad to f**k him because he asked for damn money! The greedy whorish Elliot Barnes,” he whispered as he looked at Elliot with full of disgust. Tomás can’t seem to move on about what happened to them in the past. He jolted as he felt saliva scattered on his face. Elliot spats on Tomás’s face as he cried. “f**k you and your dirty mind, Tomás,” he sniffed. “You know nothing about what really happened that day. I hope your Dad rots in hell!” and he spat once more to the man in front of him. It made Tomás fume in anger. He wiped the drool from his face as he slapped hard the poor Elliot. “You don’t have any rights to talk back nor to spat on my damn face, Elliot!” he said. The temperament of his voice is audible. “Don’t test me. You haven’t tasted my wrath yet,” he added. He pushed Elliot hard, causing him to fall on the floor. Tomás fixed his coat and looked at him with a blank face. “I can take our child away from you,” he threatened. It made Elliot rose from the ground quickly as he begged the rich, arrogant man. “N-No, To-Tomás, please,” he sobbed. Tomás smiled triumphantly. “Well, hell yes, I can,” he teased. “No!” Elliot almost yell. “I am begging you,” he begged. And this time, it was Tomás who spat on his face. “Kiss my shoes and ask for my forgiveness,” he commanded. Tomás’s heart is still full of hatred, apart from what he feels for Elliot. He knew he loved him, but there is also a part of him that wanted Elliot to conform and to submit himself to him wholly. Without a second chance, Elliot did it for the sake of his child. Like a mother that would do anything to protect his child. He kissed both of his shoes and looked at him with eyes swam in tears, and with a broken voice, he spoke. “Forgive me, Tomás,” closing his hands together like he prayed as he beheld at him. “Forgive me, for I have sinned with you,” he commenced. Even though Elliot knows he hasn’t done anything ill or wrong to him. He hugged Tomás’s knees. “Please, took mercy from me, Tomás. Don’t... don’t do it. Hugo is the only thing I have,” he said. Elliot knows how powerful Rodriguez’s are. Tomás’s Dad did horrible things to him and his Mom. He killed her. And now, Elliot was afraid that Tomás might bring catastrophe to his and his son’s life. He cried hard to his knees and hugged it tightly as his life depends on it. “Please, Tomás. Isn’t it enough to destroy my dreams? Do you want to destroy my life again? Please, stop,” he cried. Tomás let out a small snore enough to make Elliot hear it. “Fine. Fine. Whatever,” he said. Kicking Elliot lightly to let go of the hug on his knees. “Stand up. We need to discuss things,” he said. And so, Elliot stood up. They then sat on the couch like nothing has had happened. Tomás’s conscience was eating him slowly as he saw how devastated Elliot was. He knew that Elliot was right. He destroyed his future and as well as his life. Tomás always blame love for his obsession with Elliot. He loved the way how delicate and fragile Elliot was. A handkerchief then wiped his tears. Elliot looked up and saw it was Tomás wiping his tears away. He stared at him. He was still the same, Tomás. Very unpredictable, impulsive, and obsessed with him. “Don’t stare at me,” said Tomás. Elliot then looked away, felt shy and embarrassed. Tomás held Elliot’s hand and handed the handkerchief he used. It was expensive. “Hugo’s last name will be changed for good,” he commented. “Rodriguez. Hugo Rodriguez. He will carry my name and yours on the middle since I am the man in this relationship,” he said. “Need not to worry. I’ll pay for all the expenses. Hugo will be my successor. He is my blood and flesh. I ran some DNA tests apart from what happened to you and Dad. It tested positive that I am his biological father,” said Tomás. Elliot knew that it was him who’s the father of Hugo. Elliot came silently. “What the f**k do you think you are living, Elliot? Do you call this house? It is not safe for my child. Rusty walls and broken chairs? Anyway, what do I expect from you,” he said, insulting him once more. Tomás stood up and took a closer look at the things inside Elliot’s apartment. He can’t help but feel disgusted by the old and dull objects he found inside it. Never in his life, he imagines looking at it. Luxurious and wealthy living he had. So, it was a new sight for him to see. “Disgusting,” he stated. “Then stop looking at them,” Elliot can’t stand him mocking what he had. For he knows that his life would have been far different if he didn’t meet Tomás. “Yeah, right. I won’t look at the cheap achievements you have,” squinting his eyes as he looked at Elliot as he mocked. Before things could go out of hand, Tomás redirected the topic going back to what truly matters, his son, Hugo. He sat beside Elliot back on the couch and took a sigh as he shook his head. “You’ll receive my full child support. From the money down to all the things you need,” said Tomás. “I’ll transfer you to one of my mansions near me. So that I can visit you daily and will be guarded twenty-four-seven,” he added. “No,” said Elliot. Even if he had nothing, his pride and hatred would stop him from allowing Tomás to help them. “And why the f**k is that?” he asked. Annoyance was audible in his voice as his eye twitches, glaring at Elliot. “Because I have my job here,” made Tomás clicked his tongue and let out a sardonic chuckle. “Job? Really? Do you consider yourself getting f****d by him a job?” he said, pertaining to Bryan. “You still haven’t changed, Tomás. I respected myself even if others don’t have the balls to. Even if my job pays me low, I still consider it as a job. A decent one. God knows that I am not like what you imagined me,” which made Tomás cursed out loud. “Damn it, Elliot!” he jolted. “My words are final. Take it or leave alone. If you won’t listen to me then might as well get my son now!” Tomás declared. “How dare you Tomás! All of a sudden, you’ll enter this apartment threatening me and now you have the guts to take my child all alone? I carried him in my womb for nine months,” warm tears flow down Elliot’s eyes. “For nine months, I faced all the suffering alone and yet I managed to survive and raised Hugo all by myself without asking any help or assistance from you. And now that he is two years old you will enter in his life buying him gifts?” Elliot let out a mirthless laugh. “That’s not how a good father is supposed to be,” he sobbed. Instead of talking back and proving his point, Tomás mimicked Elliot and laughed at what he said as if it was a joke or a fabricated story to laugh and not to believe. “You’re funny as hell,” he said. “End your damn relationship with that Bryan before I made it my way---” Elliot interrupted. “But we---” and a finger was placed to his lips making him not to talk. “Shhh. I’ll give you two days to fix things and to cut ties with that stupid man you have. I can give you everything you need, Elliot,” he paused leaning closer to him and looked directly to his eyes. “You need no other man except me. For Hugo and you,” he caressed his face. Elliot could smell and feel Tomás’s warm and minty breath. “ No man can love you the way I can. No man can make you moan like I do. And no man can be a father to our son because I am his Daddy and you, I am your Baby Daddy,”
