Make You My Queen

1072 Words
The days fly by. Every day I watch my little sister blink with happiness. Josh is obviously good to her. She told me she shifted on her eighteenth birthday, and her wolf instantly claimed John as her mate. The young man stood teetering nearby as she shifted, jauntily in front of her, for her wolf to make eye contact with him right away. This confirmed my suspicion that John had known they were mates for some time. That reminds me of my own incompetence. Now even at twenty-three, my wolf has not shown up. Deep sigh. Ruth and Josh are moving into their new apartment today. They were delighted with the one a few floors below mine and immediately closed the lease with management for two years. They went furniture shopping and decorated their place themselves and I must admit the result is stunning. As a gift for their first new home, I gave them a coffee maker. Seeing Ruth so happy is the best thing happening to me in a long time. But as the days passed by, the moment also arrived for me to accompany Mr. del Castelho to a client to discuss the project under my management. I am so looking forward to it, in the office this decision of the new manager has created a lot of gossip. If I even go near the man's office, I am observed with suspicion. In meetings, colleagues try to discover if there is a romantic relationship between us. Fortunately, I am very professional and they have nothing on me. It is different with Mr. del Castilho who apparently cannot take his eyes off me, fueling the lush gossip. Right now, I am sitting in my office. In half an hour I will leave with the CEO, in his private car to the client. Diligently I try to establish my demeanor; as businesslike and correct. "Miss Weiner, I'll meet you at the elevator. Don't forget to take the file with you," I hear him say through the intercom on my desk. "Be there in a minute, Mr. del Conselho," I answer him formally. I take every opportunity to make it clear to him that our relationship is strict, although he has made no attempt to hit on me or anything along those lines. But I want to make my point known in advance so he doesn't risk anything. I grab my things and walk out of the office. Natali looks up. "Are you leaving with Mr. Wonderful already? I thought the meeting didn't start for another two hours," she asks in amazement. I look at the clock and indeed, I see that we are actually leaving way too early. I shrug, the boss has spoken and I avoid giving him cause for any displeasure by ignoring his order. When I arrived at the elevator, I see him standing there. I avoid eye contact and nod at him politely. We walk into the elevator and when the doors lock, it feels like the world is closing around him and me. My breath stalls, I bring a hand to my throat in an attempt to ease my senses. "Rain, I know you're a werewolf. But I can't sense your wolf. How is that possible? Did you use a potion or something to suppress her now that you're dwelling among humans?" asks Mr. del Conselho in an even voice. I notice that he is emitting an authoritarian energy, one that a wolf of higher rank only is able to emit over the lower ones. My father was the Beta, the only ones above my rank were the Alpha and an active Beta. This man here in front of me must belong to one of these, although he does not bring his authority full on me. "I have not yet shifted. My wolf hasn't shown up yet," I reply shortly, praying to the Moon Goddess to make this damn elevator arrive soon. "What pack are you from?" he asks again, much to my irritation. Does this man not feel my discontent? "Storm Forest," I say, now clearly displeased. He frowns and stares at me. "Why are you outside your pack? Your scent is not of a rogue, so you haven't cut ties with your Alpha. What are you doing here? According to your file, you have been working in my company for two years". Now I've really had enough. "Mr. del Castilho, we are on our way to a business meeting and you are my superior. Can we focus our conversations on work matters?" I requested tightly, my eyes now focused sharply on him. I do nothing now to hide my annoyance. For a moment I see anger shining in his eyes, but it is soon gone. "This is business, Miss Weiner. A lone wolf in my firm has consequences when other wolves come near," he bites to me now. "Are you mated?" He releases a little more of his authority now. "Yes," I reply briefly, with my head averted. "But you don't have a mark, while your scent is slightly mixed with a male. Is your mate still in the pack?" he asks further, ignoring my dismissive attitude. I refuse to answer now and turn my face to the floor. I hear him growl at my disrespect, but I don't care at all. I know he can't do anything now that we are between humans, and I had already warned him not to want to dwell on my privates. "You refuse to answer me. But since you have no mark and no mate registered anywhere in your record, I assume you are unmated. I guess you are dealing with heartbreak, your mate probably rejected you," Mr. del Castilho says softly now. Suddenly he grabs my face and raises it to his. "I desire you. Your attraction to me is enormous, I can hardly control it. I am going to woo you to the point that you forget your mate or whoever that might be and then claim you for myself." A cry of disbelief leaves my mouth, my eyes go wide. A crooked smile crosses the man's face. "I will never reject or hurt you. You will become the most precious gem in my crown, no one will dare to harm a hair on your head. Or he has a death wish. I am going to conquer you and make you my Queen," he promises...
