REIGN OF MAGIC: The last sorcerers.

CHAPTER 5.

After a week, at the capital of Gouna, the elders of the empire began to come together as instructed with various noble men whom they had nominated from their various cities.

So they presented these men to the great magicians based on the city of their birth. And after the seven cities were done with the presentation of their selected leaders to be.

Elda the fifth had to number the noble men presented and when she was done, she said to the other four sorcerers. "The elders have presented many men far beyond our expectations, and there can only be one governor per city."

"No, the men presented are not many, even they are not up to the number of men we need." Ned said.

"But we only need seven governors and an emperor to oversee them?" Demi asked.

"No, we also need an army for the battle ahead, and these men are not enough, but out of them, shall we appoint an emperor, seven governors, a general for the entire armies to be raised and several commanders to work with him. As the days shall go by, each governor and commander will have to make captains and increase the military defense in their city. We do not know the city where Verona will begin her attack from, so we have to equip every city as much as we can." Ned said as he then signaled the second to address the elders and the men which have been nominated in their respective cities.

So Craig stood from the seat on which he sat, took some steps forward and said. "Thank you all for responding and heeding to our words, we the great sorcerers are happy that we still find such loyalty in you. Before we get down to appointing leaders from these men, I will have to ask this question, and I need sincerity from you the nominees." He paused to observe them, as they agreed to what he had said so far, so he continued. "Please, without hesitation, if you know that you come from the lineage of magicians, whether you can perform magic or not, we would like you to withdraw yourselves from this position, and we have our reasons." Then a few of them who fell under that category stepped out gently, then Craig continued. "Thank you for doing as instructed, we have asked you to step out because the position is not meant for you, but do not be weary, you can join the army when the time comes and thereby help in this war against the dark lord and his mistress."

Then one of the elders asked, "Now that those with the blood of magic have done as instructed, why not get down to telling us who our leaders are?"

"That question is not meant for me to give the response, so I guess wizard Ned, the first will have to address it." Craig said as he retired back to his seat. "Over to you."

So Ned stood and said, "Your leaders will be pointed but not today, you the people have chosen, and now it is time for us magicians to make our own choice."

"And what prevents you from making the choice now and right here?" Another elder asked.

"We are not complete." Ned answered.

"But we can see the five great sorcerers of our time present here with us, so why then do you say you are not complete?" Some other person said.

"Our brethrens are absent, we may bare the title of the great magicians but we may not be, we your great magicians as you have said have some of our brethrens that as not here and together we have to perform some ritual before our final decision on this who will be your leaders. We are going to send a message across to you when we are done with the rituals and selection." Ned said.

So the sorcerers asked that every other man should return to his city aside from the nominated ones, and so the gathering was dismissed.

Afterwards, a message was passed across the entire empire to some wizards and witches who gathered together in a cave in the city of Rolfe and there were about twenty sorcerers who responded to the summoning.

Together they all stayed in the cave for three days performing their acts with the sole purpose of choosing the right leaders for the empire. During this period, most of them traveled ahead of time, wiping off everything that would cause the downfall of the empire.

After the end of the three days, they sealed all they had done with some powerful incantations which shook the whole of the cave and at the same time echoed around the vicinity.

Then all the magicians that had gathered departed from the cave, spreading to the people the date which they had chosen for the final appointment of their leaders.

Now, when the distinguished day came, the citizens of Gouna all came together at the capital from across the seven cities. Both magicians and non-magicians gathered to witness and honour their new leaders.

When the crowd had settled and was calm, Ned the greatest wizard, who was at that referred to their leader, had to address the congregation. "People of Gouna, today we are all gathered to elect leaders for the empire, long before now, the empire of Gouna was ruled by both magicians and mare men, but a time came when that era of leadership failed, when Kees exhaled himself above all, took powers from the underworld so that he alone would rule this empire forever, but then he was stopped by my brethrens and I, and ever since then you said that we should rule over you. But the time when the balance of leadership will be restored has come because I can not live forever nor can my brethrens, we shall have to pass on, and our children will have to grow, so we have decided that both magicians and mare men should rule Gouna once again, and we have gathered here today that this balance in leadership shall be restored. You, the people, have selected noble men from all your cities, you have agreed that these men should rule over you, both in time of peace and in time of war. Of course, we all have heard that there is a war coming, the dark will soon return, although his mistress Verona has already returned and it is believed that she is working out means to summon him back. Men had tried once to stop dark lord Kees but they failed, also magicians had tried yet we also failed, so now it it time when we magicians and mare men shall join efforts together to stop him for good, and this time we shall not fail because we are going to be stronger than ever. From the men which you have nominated for this course, we the magicians had performed some rituals and we have chosen three noblemen from each city, that we shall all together in one accord elect those that will lead us. So let the men come forth."
