The elevator reached the main floor where the security office was located.
Hanna and doctor Pam, like tightly wound springs, shot out of the open door in a panic.
They both looked around scanning the lobby for him.
They were scrambling to the security office as quickly as possible.
Doctor Pam's long, white lab coat was waving behind her like a flag as she moved.
The people standing in the hallway were startled by the pair and quickly moved to get out of their way as they ran by.
With out knocking, Doctor Pam rushed forward to security and blurted out what had happened.
Hearing the commotion and seeing Doctor Pam, the head of security John Mason came out of his office.
John Mason paused in his tracks, seeing doctor Pam's wide eyes and disheveled appearance.
This was totally out of character for the normally stoic pathologist that he had known for many years, he sprung into action.
Without question, the hospital was immediately placed into lockdown as John Mason took control and instructed his team where to search for the assailant.
There were alarms blairing all around them now as the guards went out.
The guards were quickly and as calmly as possible instructing everyone to move into the adjacent rooms for their safety.
Hanna had just remembered that her father Henry was still waiting for her in his car.
She called her father to let him know that the hospital was going into lockdown.
Not one word was whispered about the attack.
She did her best to talk normally, though Henry could hear the strain in her voice.
She told him that she would fill him in as soon as she knew more, not wanting him to make a scene at the door.
This was something that she wouldn't put past the former police detective.
Not long after this, Henry appeared in the security office.
Eye brows raised in surprise, Hanna was actually very relieved that he had somehow made it in and had found her.
She sat him down and told him all about the attack.
Henry silently listened, his head down and brows knotted together.
After she was done talking he slowly raised his head and gave her a steely look.
Holding onto both of Hanna's arms, she winced when he squeezed her sore shoulder.
Henry quickly softened his grip and spoke with menace, "Give me a description of what he looked like and where you last saw him Hanna."
Hanna couldn't speak as her eyes welled up.
Remembering the attack, she closed her eyes tightly and began to weep on her father's shoulder.
Henry wanted to kill the guy.
However, he had realized that his daughter Hanna was still very scared and that she needed him to stay there with her, as only a father could do.
An hour had passed while they waited for word from security.
Hanna debated whether she should call Adam or wait until they found her attacker, she decided she would call him anyway.
She dialed his number but the phone went to voicemail. She left a short message asking him to call her as soon as possible and that it was urgent.
The security officers that searched the facility found a trail of blood leading to a broken basement window.
It appeared that the assailant went out the window.
Security followed the trail of blood to the parking lot where it looked like he had gotten into a car and fled the scene.
They found no other evidence of him being anywhere else in the hospital so they removed the lockdown status and handed the case over to the local police.
Henry took Hanna back to the site of the attack.
He wanted to search the basement for any evidence left behind.
He had his own investigating to do.
Henry thought to himself, "I will find you, you little creep."
About an hour after this Hanna looked up as if history was repeating itself and she saw a man walking towards her down the poorly lit hallway.
This time she realized the man was tall and strong looking and not a bit like the other man.
He didn't have to get very close for her to recognize that it was Adam.
Standing up, she went to meet him.
Adam quickly closed the gap and swept her into his embrace, hugging her tightly.
She melted into his arms as if she had every right to be there.
Adam pulled her back and looked at her, he scanned her all over making sure that she was okay.
Hanna had a huge bruise on her shoulder and her finger was bandaged where her nail had broken off.
Adam was very relieved it was not worse.
Hanna didn't realize exactly how relieved he was at finding her okay.
Hanna asked him how he had known where to find her.
He told her that Henry had called him.
Astonished, Hanna didn't even know her dad had Adam's number.
She looked at her dad and he gave a sheepish grin.
"What? it doesn't take a detective to figure out how to call Adam. After all, you talked about calling him upstairs. I just peeked at your phone and made it happen."
Hanna frowned. Her dad was treating her like she was in high school all over again.
She remembered being a detective's daughter, it was a nightmare for dating.
Henry put his hands up and went back to work helping Dr. Pam collect any missed evidence.
Besides, he thought, Dr.Pam wasn't too bad to look at.
Adam walked over, pulling Henry aside and thanked him.
He began telling him how important Hanna was to the whole team.
Henry winked and said "The whole team. .. right ..the whole team."
Henry had noticed the chemistry between this man and his oldest daughter.
Adam's face turned red and he quickly walked back to Hanna.
About an hour later police detective Ryan Davis head of the Portland police criminal division approached Hanna.
He led her into doctor Pam's office in the back room, a quite place that he could get a statement from her.
As they were continuing to work the case, Hanna couldn't help but look on the wall at those floating specimens and begin to feel nauseated.
Detective Davis turned to see what Hanna had been staring at so intently, upon seeing those jars he had felt a little nauseated himself.
Detective Davis decided they would move to the other side of the office where they were away from the floating Specimens.
Hanna couldn't help but notice that detective Davis had a soft, reassuring voice when he spoke.
He appeared to be quite handsome, dark black hair with a slight curl. Though, he did have a little bit of a belly ( A dad bod? she had thought to herself)
Looking down at his strong hands she couldnt help but notice that that he wore a thick, gold wedding band.
She noticed these things. Hanna was sure his wife didn't mind his dad bod at all.
Hanna opened up about why she had come down to the morgue and about Amanda and the phone call that she had received.
She told him how she had called 911 to report it.
She said that she was very worried about Amanda being the victim mentioned in the news report, so she decided she owed it to Amanda to come to the hospital.
The detective didn't judge her on this. He had visited the morgue himself on many unfortunate occasions.
Having to escort families to identify victims was a horrendous task for him.
Detective Davis was very tired as it was nearing midnight and he was hoping to get home to his warm bed and his wife Jenny before 1 AM though, he doubted this would happen.
Doctor Pam brought in a carraff of coffee and some paper cups as well as some creamer and coffee stirrers-it smelled delightful.
All involved decided to help themselves to the coffee, including her father Henry.
Doctor Pam asked Henry how he was doing since she had last seen him. He had been called down to the morgue on return from his fishing trip, to arrange funeral arrangements for his wife.
Doctor Pam was remembering the sadness she had felt at that time for him and the whole family.
Watching him now, she hoped that he had been able to go on with his life in some type of productive way.
Henry smiled and was affected by her kindness, he realized that he had not gone on with his life in any productive way.
He had retired from the Portland PD shortly after his wife's untimely death.
He had blamed himself for her death as he had left her alone to go on that stupid trip.
She had been having frequent headaches, though she didn't let him know exactly what was going on.
She had scheduled a doctor's appointment for the next week.
Of course she never made it to that appointment in time.
Henry was not willing to cancel his trip of a lifetime, selfishly going to Canada with his brother Mike.
He'd had a lot of guilt over this- and just talking to Pam about it made him feel so much lighter.
He said, "Pam, when did I stop calling her doctor Pam", not realizing that he had spoken this out loud.
Placing her warm hand over his hand, she smiled up at him and told him, "it's okay you can call me Pam- I don't mind it one bit."
That smile of hers was very infectious and he also began to smile- like a silly schoolboy at her.
Hanna was oblivious to Henry and doctor Pam's conversation.
She was too embroiled in the investigation and racking her brain to find out how she knew that name, Paul Sicarius.
Getting up, she walked over to the front office. She asked doctor Pam if she could use her computer and she agreed.
Hanna was able to log onto her work account.
Though due to privacy laws, she had limited ability in what she could see about Amanda.
Hanna went back into all of her notes and began to review them from the beginning of the time she had worked on Amanda's case.
Adam remained busy talking to the detective about the case and several times she noticed that he was glancing at her and appeared to be extremely concerned.
She offered a slight smile and waved him off.
Adam became very possessive of her very quickly and she couldn't say that she didn't like it.
It had been a long time since she had met a man that was like Adam.
She was not able to express her feelings because she didn't quite understand them herself.
What she did know was, that once this was all over with, she was going to invite him over to a delicious homemade dinner.
Of course she would have a marinated portobello mushroom steak with almond cream sauce and some panned cauliflower rice and present him with a beautiful sauteed rib eye.
She must be getting hungry again, which was a good sign.
