Chapter SixThe morning light angled through the tall trees shooting beams of light into the clearing like inquisitive fingers. Smoke rose lazily from the remains of the previous night’s fire. The occupants of the camp still slept off the effects of the alcohol and m*******a they’d consumed. Under a grubby blanket, a large bundle squirmed, coughed and settled again. Birds sang a morning chorus and one fluttered to the ground, snatched a morsel of bread and flew away. Nothing stirred.
