CHAPTER 27 - PRESENT TIME

900 Words
Sheena beamed as she triumphed against Sebastian, and she felt great! It was her first victory in an argument, and she had no intention of changing the man's opinion of her. "Thank you, Sebastian," she expressed gratitude for him opening the door for her. "Let's meet in the kitchen two hours later," she said, and when he agreed, she wanted to scream! She had not anticipated that there would be someone on the planet whom she could command. If she had known how it felt to speak rather than remain silent, she would have utilized it sooner! She was astounded that someone as young as Sebastian could be the owner of something as opulent as The White Castles. Whoever his family was, they must have been extremely wealthy to construct a castle on a mountain. She is sleepy, as Richard kept her awake last night. Yes, his actions kept her awake all night while she analyzed it. When he suggested they go somewhere quiet, she anticipated something romantic happening between them, but nothing did! There was not even a single kiss on her lips, and she was enraged at being disappointed. She made no attempt to adjust her attire and sat on the bed. She quickly fell asleep and entirely forgot about her agreement to meet Sebastian two hours later in the kitchen. Sheena neglected to set the alarm clock, and so slept in! When she awoke, it was beyond lunchtime, and she was terrified at the prospect of being fired by her boss. She pulled her hair back into a sloppy bun and dashed downstairs to the kitchen. There, she discovered at least two sets of anticipatory eyes. "I apologize; I overslept." She gave Sebastian a hesitant grin before introducing herself to the other man. "Hmmm, on my walk here, I don't see anyone." "What happened to the kitchen assistants?" She inquired, and the muscular man broke out laughing. She cast a peek towards Sebastian for clarification, but her employer averted his gaze. "There is no helper," Derrick reminded her after restraining himself from laughing. Sebastian felt the impulse to chuckle again when he saw the woman's look upon learning she would be working alone in the kitchen, but Sebastian kicked his legs beneath the table. She became dumbfounded for a little while and simply gazed at both men. "With that in mind, it's just me in the kitchen." After a little pause, she concluded. “Yes. Is it going to be a problem?" Sebastian enquired out of concern that she would resign before she could begin working. "Well, if I'm only cooking for the three of us, it shouldn't be a problem." When she spotted both guys gazing at each other, she responded, and a line emerged on her brow. "Are you going to tell me something?" She surmised that they were concealing something and awaited their response. "However, you indicated that you'd want to watch me at work in the kitchen. "How would you want to eat?" Sebastian and Derrick exchanged glances before announcing the same food they'd been yearning for since arriving at The White Castles. "Stir-fried steak and potatoes!" Sheena giggled at their high-pitched voices, which sounded just like those of infant boys! "All right," she said, before digging through the pantry for the necessary supplies. She thawed at least three rib eye steaks from the freezer. "Are you looking for rare, medium, or well-done?" Personally, she prefers a medium rare steak since it is delectable. Both guys said, "Medium rare." "All OK, just give me thirty minutes to prepare." She wasn't boasting, but she was capable of preparing their dinners in less than thirty minutes. Sebastian's kitchen was equipped with everything imaginable, and it was contemporary! Sebastian was expected to go with Derrick, but he remained seated, and she glared at him. "For safety reasons, as you are aware," Sebastian elaborated. "Whoa, did you think I was going to poison you?" She was enraged by his justification for remaining with her. "This is your first day on the job, Sheena." He brought it to her attention. By all ways, he was correct, and she had already forgiven him. However, something about his gaze worried her. She could just ignore it, but it was difficult! His gaze made her uneasy, and she had to tell herself each time he locked his attention on her derriere that she needed a place to hide. "I comprehend," she stated. "Inform me, Sheena. "Did you have an affair with Richard?" Sebastian inquired, but upon seeing the woman's hot cheeks and seething eyes, he regretted asking such a personal inquiry. When she heard him, Sheena turned around and saw Sebastian's countenance. "Am I unable to?" She followed up with another query. Why on earth would he care about her s****l life? That is none of his concern! She clenched her teeth and forced her lips to shift into a grin. What difference does it make if she appeared to be a joker after faking a smile? Sebastian's jaw shifted in response to her response. Although it was not a direct response, it sent the same message. She had an affair with him! “When? "Was it before or after your husband's death?" He enquired further. Sheena arched her brows at the man who appeared more concerned with her s*x life than with her culinary prowess. "Is it significant?" she inquired.
