Eddie couldn’t stop blushing as they walked back to the court house, the judge was going to be back in ten minutes and the diner was five minutes away. He couldn’t believe the handsome guy had asked for his numbers. Okay, he had asked Trisha to do it but same different, the guy wanted his number. He was way out of his league, but why was he happy about this. He wanted to grin like an i***t but he thought it will be inappropriate since Cathy was still a panicking mess about what the judge was going to say.
“Do you think he is going to throw the case out? We don’t have evidence Mr. Wilson and I don’t want my child to grow up with a man like him. What if he orders me to go back, since I don’t have any place to go other than the shelter or he lets him take my child away?” Eddie was happy but Cathy was just dampening his mood but as a good lawyer he was going to explain it again to her, even though his mind was full of a shirtless waiter, imagining as his hand traced the ink on his chest.
“Judge Jones will never do such a thing. Stop worrying, it’s not good for the baby. Everything is going to be okay, I promise” he held her shaking her hand again as they entered the court room. Mr. Davis was already at the door and glaring at their intertwined hands his face red with anger and Eddie wanted to aggravate him more, before court and let him lash out in front of the judge, and that will surely prove what an angry man Mr. Davis was, and a person never chances once they take out their anger on someone that’s what they will do whenever their angry. So he did what anyone in his position will do in such matters the moment they reach the bench and hugged Cathy tight while his eyes went to Mr. Davis, and the glare he got made him smile on the inside.
“You may all rise, judge Jones presiding” said the bailiff and Eddie stood up straight fixing his clothes as Cathy looked at him weirdly.
“I’m not going to sit here and waste my time and yours. So I’m going to get straight to the point. With the evidence and I got, I decided to call a continuance and let the court appointed psychologist have a talk with Mrs. Davis herself.”
“Objection your honour you didn’t even let us make our case yet?” said the defence lawyer irritated.
“Yes, because they is no point if doing so, after what your client did earlier, making me a witness to his anger, and abusive words. how are you going to defend someone who threw profanities in the court of law, with the judge as a witness, surely your clients has anger issues, and I want to make sure he hasn’t done more than his wife is charging him with. He threw himself under the bus, and as a lawyer I will be disappointed in myself that I couldn’t get my client ready for this, so what I’m trying to say is Mr. Smith. Your objection is overruled.”
“is there anything you want to add Mr. Wilson?” Eddie smiled now was the time to play all the cards right.
“Yes, your honour. Mr client just revealed to me that she's been living in a shelter after being married to a millionaire for twenty years and carrying his child. I humbly request you make him pay for her accommodation and food while the case is ongoing, if that’s not too much to ask.” He bowed respectively hiding the smirk on his lips and Mr. Davis had finally had it. he stood up glaring at Eddie.
“I will not do such a thing, she’s a b***h, a w***e who is sleeping with her lawyer so he can represent her, she can also open her legs for accommodation” he spat, and his lawyer tried to stop him but he pushed him aside and tried to leave but the bailiff was already by his side, he knew the ruling already, he had worked with judge Jones for a long time.
“Let go of me you fool.” He yelled and judge Jones shook his head looking at his lawyer.
“Mr. Davis I’m charging you in contempt and your bail is $500,000 I’m sure is not even enough for what you did here and you can easily afford it. I wish I can rule right now, but the law requires I have all facts and right now, I don’t but Mr. Davis swear in my court again I’m going to throw you in a hole for a very long time. Please throw him in the cells until his able to pay his bail, ow, and Mr. Davis you’re going to pay for Everything your wife is going to need before you even get out of jail, that’s my ruling” judge Jones smirked and watched as the man struggled as they dragged him to the underground cells.
“Mr. Smith join me in my chambers after this, I’m sorry Mrs. Davis for all this mess, but you can talk to our psychologist for an hour a day for the entire week. Mr. Wilson see to it.” He hit his gravel on his desk before standing to leave with the defence lawyer on his tail. Mr. Smith was really in trouble for his client behaviour.
“What does all if this mean? Is he going to prison? Are we safe from him?” Cathy questioned yet again and Eddie wanted all of it to be true but he knew Mr. Davis was going to be out by tonight or tomorrow morning.
“It means you can get yourself an apartment and food. your husband will pay for it, don’t worry, he doesn’t have to know where you live but you can’t stay in the shelter forever, be strong for your baby, and everything you need judge Jones will make sure you have it, for this whole week” said Eddie ready to retire for the day. For the first time since high school he was ready to lay in bed and think about the handsome, tattooed waiter working at his favourite diner.

“Are you going to call him or not?” Tyra was annoying Ben the entire way home. But Ben kept ignoring him thinking about Eddie, was it short for Edward or was it just Eddie? What time will he go back to the diner, maybe he shouldn’t have left. What if he comes back and his not there and someone else ask for his number? Will he say yes? He frowned at that thought he really liked Eddie and the thought of him being with someone else didn’t sit well with him, but what was more confusing was he also loved Titus. So why couldn’t he stop thinking about Eddie?
This was supposed to be easy, he wasn’t supposed to be liking the brunet with hair he wanted to pull or push out of his face in the morning looking at his pink cheeks as he woke him up with a kiss.
“Okay, I’m not going to sit here and watch you ignore me, Ben. It’s clear you like the guy why not call him right now? Where is his numbers anyway” and that made Ben snap out if his trance looking at his crazy best friend. he couldn’t let her call him yet, he didn’t know what he was going to say yet or if he was going to call.
“No, don’t call him” he answered fast and that’s when he realised Eddie's numbers where in his pocket, now he had to listen to Tyra go on again. He got played.
“So, now that you can talk, can you tell me the plan?” she looked at him expectantly with her arms and legs crossed making her breast bigger, and the slit on the side of her pencil skirt to open more. Ben rolled his eyes at her. Not because of her outfit which he loved. He liked how Tyra was comfortable in her own skin but he rolled his eyes at the fact that he had no plan, and he didn’t know if he still wanted to get Titus back or just see where this thing with Eddie is going to lead.
“I don’t know” he answered swerving the car to the side, as Tyra started yelled swearing the driver who almost knocked them and the passengers on the side walk, and Ben got out of the car the moment he saw the guy who almost got hit by the car, leaving Tyra yelling at the car that was already gone.
People had already surrounded him asking questions, but Ben got in front touching the startled man, and without thinking he hugged him tight.
“Eddie are you okay?” he let the man breath heavily on his chest, calming himself down. The edge to protect him overpowering the fact that he hardly knew the guy, heck they didn’t even talk other than the order he took from him.
“I’m fine, he just scared me a little bit” he inhaled his scent of watermelon forgetting he was on Ben's chest and relaxed a little bit.
“ The stupid driver tried to kill you Eddie, there is no traffic this time of day, he deliberately went for you on the side walk, and why are you walking all by yourself” he almost shouted letting Eddie eyes go wide, and he left his chest, and Ben almost groaned missing his warm body, but the scent of his brandy cologne lingering on his chest, and he thought he will sleep with this shirt on tonight, he shook the crazy thought that been invading his brain from the moment he met Eddie and concentrated on the suddenly angry man.
“I’m a grown man, I can walk by myself and it’s only one in the afternoon, it’s not dangerous” Eddie explained himself even thought he was angry.
“I know and I’m sorry for asking, I know you will just think I’m weird but I don’t want to see hurt” he looked at the floor trying to hide his pink cheeks, and it warmed Eddie’s heart to hear those words he had never had someone worry about him in the city, everyone here was minding their business that why even after months of living here he still didn’t have friends
“I’m sorry for shouting, but I’m okay. I think it was just an accident and I will be fine I just live a few blocks from. Here and a walk will make me relax a little bit” he smiled shyly at the man he only met once at the diner this morning but already made his heart skip a beat.
“I’m going to drive you to your apartment to make sure you’re safe, please” begged Ben and Tyra was standing next to the car and looked at them smiling, these two were just made for each but they don’t know it yet, but that’s why she was there to give them a push in the right direction.
“Okay, but only because I know where you work” he pouted making Ben smile, he was so cute and he had to teach him not to trust this quickly and Ben still had to find out who was trying to kill his Eddie 'ugh' Eddie his subconscious was really starting to irritate him.
“Don’t worry, I’m not going to eat you, ‘yet’ his subconscious added. “and we have someone you might have seen a couple times in the diner my best friend Tyra” he pointed at the car, and Eddie eyes got wide he had forgetting that they were not alone, and he was acting like a love sick puppy instead of a professional lawyer he was meant to be. He cleared his throat following him to the car, hoping the ride to his apartment will be short, he was so embarrassed.
