“I’m convinced.”, Carson exclaimed after the two of them used their siren-like singing. “I need to talk to Skylar alone please.” He headed to the door.
Once outside, Skylar shot him with a question, “Are you alright? - Do you feel light headed?”
“I’m alright. I just needed a time out. I know that you intend on winning but I need to ask you about your tactics on how you are planning to win because I wouldn’t want to be one of Sapphire’s minions.”
“Wait, how aren’t you enchanted by our singing?” Skylar noticed that he didn’t look like he was anyway under a spell.
“I’m one of the pure-blood mermen of Atlantis. How do you think I’ll get enchanted by the singing of a siren or in this case two sirens? - Now back to my question.”
“Oh yeah. I did slip a little trick up my sleeves. I had done some reading and I found out that without the rings that your father had given Cody and Tyler, they’re vulnerable to the siren’s singing. So I also found out that there is a way to divert the powers of the siren song. I somehow managed to get Tyler to become a spy with my singing and gave him the ring, and take the spellbound-Cody to that diner that we went to this morning. This way, Tyler isn’t bound by the spell. Also I asked Elyssa if she could convince Angelica to reverse the spell she had placed on their family for at least 48 hours so that we wouldn’t need to deal with two things at once.”
“Great plan but I am still confused on how we are planning to deal with Cody and Sapphire.”
“I also got that handled.” She held up a vial filled with a purple solution. “Elyssa gave it to me just in case they got a little difficult.”
“How exactly are we gonna give it to them? They aren’t the friendliest people as you have already said.”
“Easy. When they start getting difficult, we’ll just drop it like a smoke bomb and it would release the potion in the form of vapour and would hence automatically cause them to fall asleep. Let’s just keep our fingers crossed that it will work.”
“There you guys are. - Ready to continue?” A high pitched voice came from the corridor - it was Sapphire.
Skylar had a sixth sense that something bad was going to happen but she still followed Sapphire to the room where they previously were. As soon as they finished the final round, the three of the guys were surprised that they weren’t tired of singing. Carson immediately took over the stage, “Alright, all in favour of Skylar?”
After a little brainstorming with himself, Tyler raised his hand. You little betrayer. Cody directed the thoughts to Tyler. Once Carson said all in favour of Sapphire, Cody immediately raised his hand. But the odds were still in Skylar’s favour.
“This is all your fault-”, Cody shouted at Tyler. “If you hadn’t voted for Skylar, we could have won.”
Sapphire got the better of him, “Calm down, Cody. She won fair and square. There’s no point sulking about it anyways.” She continued to take off the necklace. “Here. It doesn’t even mean anything to me anyways.”
The moment she handed it over to Skylar, Cody snatched it before Skylar could even get hold of it. “Give it back!” Skylar exclaimed while trying to get the necklace from Cody who held it up high. “You asked for it.” She continued to throw the vial of purple solution to the ground the moment the glass shattered, the solution exposed to the normal atmosphere immediately turned to a vapour-like smoke which cloud up the room, she had gotten Tyler and Carson to consume another potion that protected them from the side effects of the sleeping potion. They quickly grab the necklace once Cody is put down and run out to the lobby where it was safe.
Skylar quickly called Elyssa’s cell to check on their side whether everything was going according to plan but it went straight to voicemail. However, there was a voice message that came saying. On the way to the West Coast. Looking for a man named Austin Woods. Will meet you there.
After hearing the recorded message, Tyler tried to remember where he had heard that name before. “I think I might know who Austin Woods is.” He said to Skylar. “He’s come to the Siren before making a trade with Sniper. Sniper might still have his contact. I’ll call him to check.”
“Anything would do as long as we get that spell book from Austin to bring Cody back down to Earth.”, said Skylar. She continued to run after Carson so that they could get to the West Coast punctually just in case Elyssa needed back-up.
“What do you mean? - Leave Atlantis.”, Aria protested against her father’s command.
“There is nothing we can do. With the crystal rose lost in the human world, we have to keep you protected. The curse has already taken a toll on Aaron and Cyrus. I can’t have you being hurt in any way. So I’m getting Zac to make sure that you’re protected by their kingdom’s guard of the highest ranking.”
“But what about Zayn? I can’t possibly just leave him here.”
“He has much more to deal with here. With only our family having this curse, I’m worried that Larissa has already gotten to the human world. And now, I’m busy worrying about Carson’s well-being while he is up on the surface. - Now before it is too late, I want you to have this just in case I don’t make it back.” With that said, Aria was whisked away by her father’s powers sending her to Coaratis. She was sobbing her way there, she knew that she couldn’t just sit around but there wasn’t much she could do either way.
Zac swam towards her because he knew that it was hard for her to be sent there against her will and she wasn’t even sure about how she could help her own kingdom from the reigns of Larissa. Despite always having that petty crush on Aria, he knew when it was time to be serious which just so happened to be that time and place. “We’ll find a way to help your family out as much as we can but for now, you have to be strong. We would find any way to help your family out as much as we can.”
“How? I’ve already tried almost every spell including the ones in the forbidden section of the royal library and yet my brothers are still cursed to continue aging day by day.”
“Listen - the spell that Larissa had placed on your family dates back ages to the time before you were born, it is without a doubt that it is definitely hopeless trying to find even the slightest loophole, we would still be out of luck.”
“That’s exactly it. Who else could find an ancient spell other than someone who had lived through the centuries?”
“I know that what we need right now is a sorcerer but all the sorcerers we know are out and about trying to protect their own families from Larissa.”, Zac protested.
“Why look for a sorcerer when you’ve got a demon who is just a call away. - Ready for a trip to the human world?”
“Hey, I promised your father that I would protect you from Larissa.”
“And what better way than to head to the human world? I mean like Larissa would never bother to look in the human realm as you know - she’s confined to the sea forever.”
“Is this your first time turning first? Because I wouldn’t want to go through the trouble of having to steal clothes again.”
“Of course it isn’t. Plus I’ve been practicing my walking with Skylar for the past month.”
Without a moment of hesitation, they headed to the surface where they transformed on a beach that didn’t have any humans. Aria was stunned by what Zac was wearing. He had a white muscle shirt on with a leather jacket and as for the bottoms he wore a pair of jeans. He looked like he was from a gang minus the completely black clothes.
“How many times have you been to the human world? It appears that you also appear to wear what they would wear on a daily basis.”
“I’ve been to the human world so often that it’s become somewhat like my second home already. - Alright let’s bring our focus back to what is important - finding that demon who had saved all our lives a few months back unless there are any other demons that you know of.”
“Yeah. Back to our main mission.” She tried to snap out of it so that she didn’t look like she was any bit attracted to Zac. “I have no idea where to find her though and little do I even know where we are right now.”
“Speak for yourself. This place, I’ve been to one too many times. It is the West Coast. A place for the low class people to come and get a drink once in a while. I know that you are too used to the fact of being in a world where people serve you but I mostly grew up amongst these people.”
“You have gotta be kidding me, I may be a princess but I’ve grown up having to deal with my brothers so I think a little bit of lower class people wouldn’t bother me that much.”
“Whatever you say princess...” Zac smirked.
“Don’t call me princess, I will not tolerate you using my title as an insult.”
“Alright whatever. - Come on, I think we should be able to track her down with this.” He continued to show her the stone with a rune on it. And because she couldn’t see the magic surrounding the stone, she only saw a plain old stone.
“What am I looking at? A rock?” Aria tried looking at it from all angles.
“Oh I forgot you haven’t got the sight. It isn’t an ordinary stone. It was forged in the fires of Hell and given to my dad who gave it to me. It is used to track down any demonic magic near and far. But the nearer the source of power, the brighter the gem here glows.”
“Wait, you’re related to demons? Why didn’t you tell me?”
“You never asked and I didn’t really see the necessity of me telling you anyways.”
“So am I the first person you’ve opened this topic up to?”
“Yeah, I guess so. So can we keep this between the two of us, I do not want anymore merpeople of Atlantis fearing the truth of my origin.” Just then the gem on the stone started glowing. “She’s close. - Come on.”
Aria struggled to keep up with Zac’s pace. Once Zac had stopped she was finally relieved. “What exactly is the name of this demon anyways?”
“Her name was Astrid but the moment she came to the human world, she took on a more sophisticated name, Elyssa to fit in with the society. She managed to escape with someone, I forgot what his name was but what I know is that he was one of the descendants of one of the greater demons of Hell.”
“How do you-”
“I have my ways. Shh.” He hushed her to not blow their cover.
