The next day when Agrud and Erebus woke up, they felt sore all over their body. From what they experienced yesterday, they swore not to anger Nariha again, even in their dreams. It was not enough for her to just make them stand like a rooster in front of everyone, she even placed large rocks on their backs.
"How are both of you feeling?" Nariha asked as she walked up to the two of them.
"We are fine". The father and son duo replied in unison.
"I hope this won't happen again". Nariha said pointing her finger at the two of them as she scolded them.
"Aye! Aye! Captain!" Both of them saluted Nariha.

Later that afternoon all of the clan members gathered in front of the clan leader's house. This was one of the occasion when all the people gathered together in front of the clan leader's house every year. This was an important day in the life of their children. Today many of them will find a partner, a daemon who will be with them hopefully for the rest of their life be it in peace or war.
The clan leader stood in front of them, he looked all around for a while before starting, "You may all know why have we gathered here today, some of our children are going to the land of Daemons to find themselves a partner, who will be with them in their every journey, their sorrows and happiness ".
" Most of you will find yourselves a Daemon, but some of you may come back empty-handed. Those who find themselves a Daemon, be sure to remember that the Daemons are mythical beings far more prideful than any other race in the world. You can not treat them like your slaves. Give them the proper respect they deserve only then will you be able to wield their full power " The clan leader said that and gave a pause, he looked around to see the eager faces of young children all over the place. He then continued, " And those who fail to find themselves a Daemon, there is no need to be dispirited, it only means you did not find the one destined to be with you, you can try the next time, it's only a matter of time before you find him".
The people began to whisper among themselves and after hearing the clan leader, the children who were going to the land of the Daemons this time around grew more nervous.
Erebus was not any different, he was nervous beyond words. If he could not find a Daemon this time, he will be surely laughed upon by the other children. Will his parents be disappointed with him? Moreover, he would have to wait ten more years to have another chance of finding himself a Daemon. He can't afford to miss this chance.
"Now we will soon depart. Till then be patient all of you".
The clan leader then called out a group of men and entered his cave along with them, probably to discuss with them about the arrangements of the journey.
When they came out, the clan leader began to call out names. He started from the oldest down to the youngest. A total of thirty-one people from the village will be going on this journey this time around.
"I on behalf of all the villagers wish you a safe and full-filling journey," The clan leader said and then pointed towards the five men standing beside him, " These five will escort you till the outside of the land of Daemons. I will advice you all to follow their guidance on your way there ".
The group of kids and adults nodded towards the clan leader.
"Then off on your way now, all of you". The clan leader said.
The five men lead the group on their way outside the village. The villagers too followed the group and saw them out.
Erebus turned around only to see his mother waving and jumping towards him while his father stood all proud with just a smile on his face.
The younger ones who were going to the land of Daemons for the first time were excited and nervous at the same time, while the older ones looked a lot more composed on the surface.
"Do you think I will find myself a Daemon this time?" Someone asked among the group.
"I think so, many of us get a Daemon on our first trip," One of the older ones told those who were there for the first time.
"What if I don't find myself a Daemon on my first time? Is this a bad thing?" Someone asked again.
"No, it's not it just means that the Daemon for you has not been born yet," The older one explained again.
"Are their many Daemons? For all of our demons, do we have a daemon?"
"I don't know that, but it is possible".
"Why do we feel a connection, a bond with the Daemons? Like can other races also form contracts with them?" Erebus asked the older ones.
"Erebus, all of us know that you are an exception in our village. No one other than you can go out to see the outside world, but you should know that no one can enter this dimension and even if they do, they won't be able to endure the environment here". One of the five who were given the responsibility to lead the group told Erebus.
"But we can't ignore the possibility, right?" Erebus said.
"I don't know, this is a secret only passed on from one clan leader to the other".
Erebus nodded, and then none of them spoke and continued on their journey.
Since they started the journey in the afternoon, the sun set not long after they left the village.
Those at the front talked to themselves and came to a halt, "Today, we are going to rest here. It is a long journey, and judging by the pace we are going, we will reach the land of Daemons by the morning of the day after tomorrow". The one in the front leading the group told them.
"Is it that far?"
"Are you regretting? Want to go back?"
"No... no... I don't want to". Fearing that they might really send him back the boy panicked.
All those present there burst into laughter after hearing the boy.
