CHAPTER 4

1068 Words
ALEXIS POV I woke up with a slight migraine, I should have gone easy on the cocktails last night, but losing to my brother for the third time in a row this year really pissed me off. I get my phone and check on my messages, one message in particular gets me irritated, I hiss out and throw the phone to the other side of the bed, “Why can't he just give up already,” I scream out. A knock on the door only agitates me further, “please go away I try yelling out.  “It's Page, I come with coffee.” That is exactly what I need now, this girl always knows what I need, “Page, please do come in.” I shout out. Page walks in, I look up and notice that she is wearing a lot of make-up on her face. I try to ignore it but the amount she has on is enough to decorate the entire wall in this room. For someone who works for a cosmetic company, she really overdoes her make-up. Maybe it's her own way of advertising our products. “What's with all that makeup Page, and thanks for the coffee I really needed it. You should have warned me about the cocktails, my head really hurts.” “Good morning to you too,” Page replies, handing me the coffee. “The migraine will go away, just take some aspirin and have got flowers for you, Jack dropped them off.” “Throw them in the bin,” I instruct her. She was doing so well but she just had to ruin the day by bringing up Jack. She tries to convince me to give Jack a chance but I cut her short and give her a go ahead to date Jack herself since she seems to be an expert in judging which men mean well. “Im sorry Alexis, I didn't mean it in that way, it's just that Jack really cares and he was looking for you the whole night, he said something about wanting to apologise.” I feel anger building inside of me but I try to suppress it because it's Page, she is my top consultant and wing woman but she's also like a friend to me, in fact the only friend I have got so far, so I'm always a little bit lenient when it comes to her. She notices my mood worsening and she quickly changes the subject, “Well even though Last night's party was thrown for the enemies we were able to get some positives from it. Zoe has agreed to come on board and will model our brand, Vincent was successful in convincing her last night," Page says with a smile on her face. “That's great, I hope he did not use the item between his legs for this recruitment. We do not want another s****l assault allegation on our records.” I emphasize. Page looks at me stunned, “I think you should give him a call and congratulate him, and do not mention his Item between his legs,” she begs. I get my phone and dial Vincent's line, he picks up and I go straight to the point and I congratulate him for a job well done on convincing Zoe to come on board with us. He thanks me but reminds me that he was just doing his Job. But I ignore him and further congratulate him because Zoe was a tough one to convince. But I make sure to warn him over using other parts of his body rather than his mouth in his persuasion. I hang up the phone without giving him a chance to respond Page looks at me shocked “Come on, I said it in a polite way, you know how Vincent is?? Glow Cosmetics does not need more scandals right now.” “I will see you downstairs, let me get myself ready.”  “But today is a Sunday, where are we going?” Page asks puzzled. “At the office of course, we need to get back all the hours we spent on that useless party, Ain't you dressed up for work?” I ask while looking at her outfit. “Of course” Page answers with a down face. I get up from the bed, take a shower and prepare myself, I look at my reflection in the mirror and notice that Page had intentionally left the flowers on the table. I go over to the table, pick up the flowers and I notice a card, and it says “I'm sorry Lexis, I will never do that again.” I hiss and throw both card and flowers in the bin. I begin to recall the events of last night, that useless Jack devoured my mouth last night without my consent, I should have bit him harder. I go to the bathroom and brush my teeth again until I see blood on my tooth brush. He is very lucky, he works for my brother otherwise he would have found a termination letter early morning monday. I know Page is mad at me for going in to work on a Sunday but we do not have time to waste around, URBAN STRING is moving fast and we are trailing behind, We have just lost for the third time in a row. My brother Lukas, is very ruthless when it comes to business. When dad died he split his company in half, I got the cosmetic and shoe line "Glow Cosmetics" while my brother got the clothing and designing line "URBAN STRING" and it has been a competitive war ever since.  My brother and I have a traditional pact, after every quarter we compare both company's generated profits and the losing company hosts a party for the winning company, not just any party, a grand party. According to the terms, if the party does not meet with the standards, the winning company has the right to request for another party.  In short it's some form of humiliation party to waste money on the winning team and Glow Cosmetics just got humiliated for the third time this year. I will not let them beat us this quarter, we have to put in all the hours. I do my final touches on my make-up and head downstairs.
