ALEXIS POV
I walk down stairs and find Lukas and Page having breakfast. As soon as Lukas sees me he gets up and begins clapping. To be honest my brother is really annoying, sometimes I feel like beating him into a coma.
He moves to where I'm standing and says “Good morning losers, I'm sure you guys are clapping for yourselves right now, it's not every Jim and Jack that gets an opportunity to host three parties in a year for URBAN STRING, only those called upon do so. How was your sleep princess?”
I just roll my eyes at him, I return his greetings in a sarcastic way. But something does not add up? We just threw him a party of a century and Instead of him having an after party in a hotel with some like ten girls, he is here in the dinning having breakfast with my secretary.
Even though Lukas is very hard working, his appetite for women is on a very high scale and he is one of the biggest womanizers in this city so it's bothersome that he is still here. I try changing the subject and feeding my curiosity.
He laughs at my after party question and teases me on my loss, and spells it out for me. He would rather be here and watch my loser face the whole day than in the arms of ten girls.
He notices that we are dressed for the office and bursts out laughing “Are you guys going to work on a Sunday? Lukas says with a grin on his face, “you know you do not have to break your backs because of me.”
“Whatever Lukas, Page, come on, let's go, is Mervin here???”
“Yes he is waiting for us outside.” Page replies.
“Before you go sis, what happened between you and Jack last night, you practically tore off his lip”
Page looks at me horrified
“Not Jack again please, so he came running to daddy, he definitely got what he deserved. Tell him to stay away from me, else I will sue him for s****l harassment. He put his b****y mouth on mine without my permission.” I hiss out.
“Baby sis, I think it's called a kiss” Lukas teases.
“Well whatever, this not a novel were people just grab people and kiss them, this is real life and we call it s****l harassment. You should be fuming right now, your useless friend assaulted your baby sister last night.”
“Calm down Alexis, I know you do not mean that, just give him a chance please.”
“Why don't you give him a chance yourself, you guys would make a nice gay couple,” I say laughing
Lukas looks at me dumbfounded
“Fine I will drop it, but you breaking my buddy's heart is losing me money, I need Jack at his best.”
“So you are willing to sell your baby sister for money, you are as useless as him, You two deserve each other. Come on Page Let's go, I definitely do not need a man to complete my life.”
“But I'm a man sis, don't I complete your life???” he teases
“Go dry your friend's tears,” I shout out as we leave.
Mervin brings the car up front and we are off to Glow Cosmetics, “here is all the paperwork on Zoe,” Page says as she hands me the papers.
“Set up a meeting with her, I want to know her end game and why she changed her mind, I do not like being second option,”
“I will do that ma'am.”
“How many times have I told you not to address me as ma'am, come on Page, my name is not that difficult.”
“Sorry miss Alexis, it was just a slip”
“And did you really bite off Jack's lip last night,” Page asks curiously.
“No, I'm not a cannibal for God's sake, he might have exaggerated the whole thing to Lukas, that man is really irritating,” I replied.
We reach the office and we find Vincent in dark sunglasses waiting for us at the entrance, at least I'm not the only one with a hangover.
“You were also called in??” Page asks, surprised.
“We've got a lot of work to catch up on,” Vincent replies.
“That's the spirit guys, in order to beat the best we have to work our backs off, come on guys walk with me.” These guys are not even trying, I can feel their low energy hovering behind me. But I don't care, I need work to be done.
“Before I forget, Miss Rosewell, here is a list of all the new workers you asked for from the Cleaning division,” Vincent says, handing me the file, “We've got two immigrant male and the rest are locals.”
“Did you thoroughly screen these people, I do not want last times incident to repeat itself, and I specifically asked for old people. I can see young people on this list Vincent, simple instructions, Simple instructions.” I yell out.
“About that Miss Rosewell, only those people on the list applied, I personally did the screening and interviews, you do not need to worry about the young cleaners.” he replies
I toss the file on the table and ask, “Are the younger recruites male or female???
“They are both male ma'am”
“Good then, I don't want you thirsty bigots thirsting again and costing this company millions, unless we have gay directors I'm not aware of???
Vincent ignores my last question and takes a seat.
Last month Glow Cosmetics was hit with a s****l lawsuit because one of our directors was harassing one of the young general cleaners, an immigrant. He just couldn't keep it in his pants. Plus the evidence was overwhelming so we had to pay off and lost thousands of dollars. Even though I fired the bigot, everytime I remember the amount I had to pay off, my heart aches. And of course our reputation was ruined, we are still recovering.
“Okay then, let's get on with the work.”
