Laura reluctantly pulled away from Seth’s arms, too aware of her daughter playing innocently in the pool. She waded to the edge where she had left the bottle of shampoo, her washcloth and the bar of soap. She first soaped up Zahara’s dark curls before she dunked her own head under the water to wet her long hair. She was surprised when she came back to the surface to have Seth remove the plastic bottle from her grasp. He squeezed out the shampoo in his own hand, and then began to rub the coconut-scented soap into her hair, gently massaging her scalp and working the suds down through the long strands.
