Fish. Fish boiled, fish fried, fish steamed, fish dried, fish baked. The six people at the lake did have plenty of food. In a very short time, they had become experts at fishing, and knew all the best spots to cast a line in the lake. Pan fish were always abundant in the shallows and the swamps, but they also brought in bass and perch, and even once a small pike.
