The Alpha's Stubborn Rejected Mate

Chapter 7 - Michael

The joy of finding my mate again had been slightly overshadowed by the realisation that she had been hiding from me for the last few days. Even though I knew that all of this was my fault, it stung that she had been trying so hard to get away from me.

Then, to make matters worse she ran from me, causing my wolf to take over and give chase. I tried to fight him for control but there was nothing I could do to stop him from chasing after her and pushing her down to the floor. It was only once we had her pinned down that he became calm enough to give me back control over my body so that I could talk to her.

“Do you really think that just because you took your rejection back I am going to accept you?” She growled, trying in vain to push me away from her.

“Not straight away, but I will prove to you how much you mean to me,” I said, smiling down at her. Sasha groaned in frustration as she gave up trying to move me by force.

“Fine, let me make this clear to you. I Sasha Evans re…”

Before she could complete her rejection I pressed my lips against hers. At first, she didn’t attempt to kiss me back but when her lips started moving against mine and her arms wrapped around me, I knew there was a chance for us to make this work.

Slowly I manoeuvred my tongue into her mouth so that I could savour her taste. My c**k was already hard and begging me to claim my mate but I tried my best to ignore it and focus on the feeling of her lips against mine.

She moaned into my mouth and used her hands to pull me closer as our kiss became more heated. Using my left arm to support my body weight, I allowed my other hand to travel down slowly until I cupped her cheek. It was at that moment that a scream echoed through the hallways causing me to jump to my feet.

I managed to get upright in time to see the small figure of an Omega running away from us in the direction of the kitchen. A quick look around me didn’t reveal any other threats so I turned my attention back to my mate, taking her hands and helping her get to her feet.

“I can stand up by myself,” She complained. She was looking in the direction that the Omega had run in as though she was contemplating going after her.

“Who was that, and why did she run away like that?” I knew that Omegas could sometimes be a bit intimidated by Alphas but her response was more intense than anything I had ever seen before. If something had happened to her in this pack then I needed to know, I couldn’t allow Omegas the be hurt or taken advantage of. That was something which had always been important to me, but it was even more important now that I was mated to one.

“That was just Eve, she has been terrified of Alphas for as long as I have known her. I should probably go speak to her though, make sure that she isn’t hiding in a corner somewhere.”

Sasha started walking in the direction that the other Omega had run off in. She didn’t wait for me but she wasn’t walking fast so it was easy for me to fall into step beside her.

“Where do you think she will be hiding?”

Sasha stopped walking before slowly turning to face me. She didn’t seem impressed to see me standing so close to her, she groaned before taking one step back to put some more distance between us. My wolf hated that. He wanted to have her beneath us again, he didn’t understand why anything would stop us from claiming her. Especially when she had been enjoying kissing us so much.

“I’m not sure it is a good idea for you to come with me, especially because she is terrified of Alphas.”

“You’re not getting rid of me that easily. I have been trying to find you for a year, I am not letting you out of my sight until you are wearing my mark.”

Sasha rolled her eyes at me before spinning around and storming off down the hallway, muttering under her breath about overbearing Alphas. When we reached the kitchen she asked me to wait for her outside of the room so that she could talk to her friend alone. I agreed to her suggestion but I still felt anxious that she might use it as a way of getting away from me.

I didn’t want to be overbearing but losing her once almost broke me, I knew that I wouldn’t survive if I lost her a second time. Standing by the door I could feel my heart pounding in my chest as I listened for any signs that she might be trying to leave me. I could hear my mate trying to coax her friend out of hiding while her friend sobbed.

“He wasn’t trying to hurt me and I wouldn’t let him hurt you.”

“He had you on the floor, he had his hand around your neck. He was going to kill you.” The other omega whimpered, she was crying so hard that I could smell her tears from the other side of the room.

“It wasn’t like that, he was kissing me. He is sort of my mate, but you can’t tell anyone that. I don’t think he would be too happy about other people finding out.”

I couldn’t hold myself back any longer after hearing her say that, I couldn’t let her think that I didn’t want her even for one second longer. I crossed the room quickly causing the Omega to squeal and push herself even further into the corner. My mate sighed and placed her hands on her hips, but before she could say anything I pulled her into my arms.

“I want everyone in the world to know that you are mine.”

“I really don’t understand you, but either way you need to leave. You are making Eve uncomfortable and I have a lot of work to do.”

She tried to wriggle her way out of my arms, but my grip on her was just tight enough to keep her in place without hurting her. Once she realised this she stopped trying to escape and let out a deep sigh. I didn’t understand her frustration, was she so desperate to get away from me that she would take any excuse? I was her mate, she was meant to be happy to have me back in her life. I told her my rejection was all a misunderstanding, surely that should be enough to at least give me a chance to win her over.

“How am I supposed to get my work done with you attached to my waist like a barnacle?” She was trying to remain calm but I could hear the frustration and the slight hint of a growl in her voice as she spoke to me.

“Baby, nobody is going to expect my Luna to work for another pack.”

“I am not officially your Luna until I have accepted you and joined your pack. I don’t want to get into trouble with my Alpha for abandoning my job.”

“We can easily fix that,” I confirmed. I pressed my lips to her shoulder at the point just beside her neck, the exact place where I would soon bite her and make her mine forever. Sasha’s heart rate spiked and she had to bite her lip to suppress a moan, and yet she still tried to move away from me.

“We can’t do that.”

Her cheeks were starting to stain pink and she tried to turn her face away from me, which only made me want to pull her closer into my arms and kiss her until the whole room smelled of her arousal. But I knew that I couldn’t push her too far when she was already so unsure about our relationship. She would be by my side forever, so what did it matter if I had to wait a few days to claim her?

Besides, I liked that my mate was a little feisty. It was unusual in an Omega but that only made me like her even more. She was going to be an excellent Luna, and I couldn’t wait to discover all the exciting ways in which she would challenge me in the bedroom.

“Then you will come with me while I explain the situation to your current Alpha.”

Before she could argue back any further I swept her off her feet and took her back outside to where Alpha Hartford was still standing beside his mate, talking to their youngest son. Jasper and Liz had disappeared but I wasn’t worried about them at the moment.

“Congratulations on finding your mate,” Alpha Hartford said once he noticed us approaching. Lawrence eyed me suspiciously as I approached, being careful not to let his gaze linger for too long on my mate.

“Thank you. Sasha was worried that you would be upset with her for not continuing with her duties, but I explained to her that as my future Luna she shouldn’t be working for another Alpha.”

I placed her down on the floor in front of me but made sure to keep my arms tightly wrapped around her so that she couldn’t escape from me. Holding her like this it was almost impossible for me to resist the urge to bury my face into her neck and breathe in her delicious scent.

“Sasha?” Alpha Hartford asked, looking puzzled. It looked as though he was one of those Alphas who didn’t really take note of the Omegas who worked under him. Now it made sense why he didn’t know who I was talking about when I had asked him where Sasha worked.

“Oh, erm of course.” He stuttered as the realisation of who I was talking about finally hit him.

“That is great. I would like to make sure all of her belongings a brought to my room right away.” Sasha’s spine went stiff, she was clearly unhappy with my suggestion but she didn’t dare talk back in front of her Alpha.

“I would have thought that you would be leaving now that you had found your mate.” Alpha Hartford replied, seemingly completely oblivious to Sasha’s discomfort.

“My father wouldn’t be happy with that. I will only be allowed back into my pack once I have fully consummated our bond. Until then you are stuck with me.”
