Chapter 5

" Our names have already been enlisted in school and our documents are as good as original " Vandom states. " How the hell did you manage to do that in such a short time ?" I question " It wasn't that short a time " is all he answers I roll my eyes at the mystery machine. Grace mount high is just as you would expect a normal high school to be . I guess it's a good thing that no matter our real age I and my friends look no older than teens. I a.k.a Rose and Drana a.k.a Lilly are no more than seventeen and Vandom a.k.a Luke looks slightly older. He could pass as our senior by a year. " Not as bad as I had thought " Drana says looking around the school. Vandom says us softly to keep our weapons glamoured so no human eyes can see them and at the same time we aren't weaponless as an assassin you make all sorts of enemies, Never know when they may sneak in an attack. " Yes, Grandma " Drana mutters back to Vandam as we enter the front office and get the maps for our classes and schedules. Fortunately, I and Drana share the majority of our classes together. "Try reading auras to find out who the Lumarian is " Vandom says before we part ways for our respective classes. As if we both didn't already know that. Half an hour into our high school gig. We were already bored. I didn't bother myself with reading auras of the girl population around me. They were already giving enough jealousy vibes towards me and Drana Why? I could detect a fair amount of curiosity and lust in the auras of boys in the class . We were the new girls who joined mid-semester. We were the focus of curiosity in this small town and to be honest, I wouldn't lie and say we weren't good looking. " I think we should try to socialize in the next class " I whisper to Drana. Scoop out a little information from our classmates. During the second period, I and Drana are separated. I have biology and she has mass communication. The teacher hasn't arrived yet. And I take an empty seat beside a red-haired girl who turns to smile brightly at me " You are new to this town, aren't you ?" It is more a statement than a question. Given how small the town is, I wouldn't be surprised if everyone here knows everything about each other. "Yeah, I'm from Arizona " I lie smoothly sticking to the details of my cover. " Must be nice, I have never left Grace mount " She sounds a little rueful and then the next moment looks sheepish " How stupid of Me. I didn't even ask your name" I smile " Rose Hayden " She sticks out her hand still smiling at me " Caroline Landers " I do a quick aura check, it is as bright as she looks. Few minutes later the teacher walks in, Roy Wilson a meek-looking man who I soon discover has the superpowers of putting people to sleep within less than ten minutes. I, however, decide to put this hour to good use. I start talking to Caroline which isn't a problem at all since she is of the talkative kind but not bitchy, and that thing about her I like instantly. " That's Abby " She said pointing towards one of the girls in the front " She is super smart......" " That's Malissa , She rides motorcycles ...." I mentally filter whatever she is saying. " That's Taylor he is extremely rich. Plus, look at him " She sighs dreamily " Isn't he hot ?" I nod trying to look interested. " That's Liza," She says her voice gaining a sulking tone as she points towards a stunningly good looking girl " She is always after Taylor but she is still dating Matt...." I tune out the tidbits of typical high school drama. Unfortunately, nothing remotely interesting happens until lunch. Caroline invites both me and my ' Sister ' Lily to her table and introduces us to her other friends Angela, Sam, Nick, Kate and the twins Emily and Emma. It's clear that Nick and Kate are a couple but they aren't among the many other couples in the cafeteria who make others at the table uncomfortable with their PDA. Instead, they have the chemistry and sweet intimacy between them that comes from truly knowing and liking each other, one look at Drana after watching them and I know she is missing Gregor, Her boyfriend. He is what you would call smoking hot. A land shaker and unlike my best friend he is always serious and intense, the only time I have ever seen him smile is when he is with her. They make a beautiful couple . And Drana always talks my ear off gushing about him . " Give me a break and stop obsessing over him! " I can't remember how many times I have told her this and each time she ignores me. Considering that I don't have a love life, I couldn't resist rolling my eyes at her . The only time I was ever involved with someone , If you consider a few hugs and a few awkward kisses, Was with Raviss. He was a nice looking guy, skilled and an excellent assassin but I just couldn't like him enough. So I gave up and went back to being friends with him again. Though I feel guilty sometimes when Drana says he still didn't get over me. After him, a few feys and sprites have asked me out. but I was never interested in feys , just as it is in their nature to admire good looks, Manipulation and Cunning is also a major part of who they are. And sprites, Let's not even talk about them, They can eat up your every organ except, Liver. Though both the kinds are dead drop gorgeous I know a little too well about their natures to let my guard down enough to go out with them. Behind their stunningly flawless faces are their nasty natures. I'm sick of perfection. I scan the crowd in the cafeteria just as Drana beside me was doing but by the disappointed shake of her head I know she and I shared the same result. The auras aren't the on my thing we can go by when it comes to finding out a Lumarian. Strength and swiftness are the few but distinctly noticeable ones among their various qualities and though the one we are searching for hasn't gained any of his powers yet, he still might have something or the other that would set him apart from the other humans. Lumarians are born with natures that make people feel secure and safe around them. Mortals like their presence and they get drawn to Lumarians like moths to fire. Sticking to this theory we check out the aura of Jocks and other such kids who are generally popular in high school. Minutes later , Another defeated sigh from Drana mirrors my own. Around our table, they were discussing an upcoming school event. I and Drana couldn't care less about the mundane topic. Giving up on reading auras I turn my attention to the food in my tray which, unfortunately, tastes as bad as it looks. Seriously! Can't they have any good cooks? I'm mentally whining with disappointment over the food when Caroline's hiss to her friends over the table pulls me out of it. " Why the hell did he come today ?"
