Chapter 7: Arrival *** Days later the two students went to pick up the newly arrived at the train station couple… “My babies!” Amanda yelled after noticing the two boys headed towards them. “Honey, don’t embarrass them.” Albert said to his wife as he carried their luggage. “Leave me be darling!” Amanda turned to say to her husband than back to the two boys. “It’s great to see you again Auntie!” Lynn was very excited to see Amanda once again. She hugged the young male then turned to Ken and said. “Come on, in for a hug! You’re not getting away without one!” Ken reluctantly went to hug his mother. This lovely seen in the middle of the train station; made it seem like they were coming back from war, given how happy they were to see each other. “Will I get a hug as well?” Albert asked as he left the heavy luggage on the ground. “Of course uncle!” Lynn went to hug the other after leaving the woman’s arms. It was truly heartwarming to see but Ken didn’t seem to be that happy at all. “What is it dear? You seem really off…” Amanda remarked as she turned to her son. “I’m fine, just haven’t slept well. Let’s go, dad I’ll help with the luggage.” Ken said as he went to pick up the heavy bags from the ground. “I’ll help out as well.” Lynn said in a professional tone and purposefully picked the heaviest bags from the ground. Leaving the other student to carry much lighter ones. “Thank you boys. I thought my arms were going to fall off because of how heavy Honey’s bags were.” Albert said as he turned to look at his wife’s smiling face. “Are you sure my bags are heavy? You haven’t been in the gym lately, you might have lost some strength!” Amanda said in a cheery voice as she teased her husband. “I don’t think any amount of human strength will make it possible for me to withstand the great amount of luggage you brought.” He said teasingly to his wife. Despite how sturdy Albert was, it was still difficult for him to carry so many bags at once. As a thirty one year old man he was still as strong as he was years ago and exercised regularly. “Haha~ Oh well, we will be staying for a while, right? Doesn’t hurt to come prepared!” Amanda said in a cheery voice. Then turning to the students that seemed to be having a hard time she asked. “Do you want help with that?” “Not at all Auntie.” Lynn said as he held onto four heavy bags, despite looking thin and weak, he was abnormally strong. “We’ll manage.” Ken said as he held onto two bags which were significantly lighter than the ones Lynn was holding. “Alright! Then let’s go, where did you park your car dear?” Amanda asked while turning to Lynn. “It’s right out front Auntie.” Lynn said as they began moving towards the car. “It was such a long trip~ Darlings, I’m happy it wasn’t with a car.” Amanda complained as they walked. “But I’m so happy we are finally here! I’ve missed you both so much! How’s school been going?” “It’s going great Auntie, both Young Master and I are in the top three of our year.” Lynn said in his professional tone. “That’s wonderful! I’m so proud of you two. You’re working hard!” Amanda praised both of the students. She was so genuinely excited to hear they’re doing well in school. “Ken, I forgot to ask you if you’ve seen the financial report I sent you? It’s for the first quarter of the year and I feel like you’ll find something interesting.” Albert said as he turned to his son sitting next to him. “I haven’t read it yet. I was busy.” Ken answered as he glanced at the driver seat where the other student was. “I see…” Albert seemed to understand what was troubling his son at the moment. Along the way Amanda continued to talk about all kinds of topics. Thankfully it was a short 10 minute ride and she didn’t get sick on the way. *** “Is it okay if we sleep in the guest room?” Amanda asked the two students. “Yes, I’ll be on the sofa so it’s alright Auntie!” Lynn said in a happy tone as he spoke to the elder woman. “Sofa? Why don’t you sleep in Ken’s room, dear?” Amanda asked with wonder as she turned to glance at her son. “Did you two get in a fight?” “No, Auntie… We just don’t sleep in the same bed comfortably anymore… Since we’re both older now.” Lynn tried to come up with a believable explanation but the woman saw through the student’s lies easily.  “Lynn dear… I’ll ask again, did you two get in a fight?” Amanda asked with a slightly more stern tone. “We aren’t fighting. I told him that I don’t want to sleep in the same room since I’ll definitely wake him up in the middle of the night.” Ken explained with his usual unfeeling voice. ‘Damn… Ken is a good liar…’ Amanda knew that both of them were hiding something but since her son was good at convincing. It was difficult for her to discern if he was telling the truth or not. “Lynn if you want to, you can sleep in my room and I can take the sofa.” Ken suggested while turning to look at the other student. “That’s very caring of you Ken.” Albert remarked as he heard his son’s suggestion. “No, Young Master I can’t do that.” Lynn said in his professional tone, not allowing his real emotions to show through. ‘Ken is being so nice to me, I can’t get carried away like this.’  “Do whatever you want to.” Ken said as he turned away to head to his room. “Dad, I’ll go check out the financial report now.” “Alright, tell me what you think about it later.” Albert said as he sat down on the sofa in the living room. “It’s a really nice apartment you two have chosen! My boys have grown up so fast. I so surprised when you two suddenly decided to come here to V city. You didn’t even ask us for money, I’m so impressed darlings!” Amanda openly praised the two boys for their independence. “It’s all thanks to you for raising us so well Auntie, Uncle… Thank you for everything.” Lynn said in a grateful voice. “My cute little Lynn is so adorable!!!” Amanda said as she went to hug the student once again. “Dear, allow him to breathe.” Albert said in a teasing tone as he giggled lightly at his wife’s childishness. “But hubby! He’s so sweet!” Amanda whined as she continued hugging the younger male. “Lynn, if Ken ever does anything bad you can always talk to me about it!” “Thank you Auntie, but there is no issue between me and Young Master.” Lynn said in a gentle voice, he was glad to see that Amanda was the same caring and gentle person he’s known. “But you’re far too soft on him! You’re even still calling him ‘master’ instead of by his name. You’re spoiling him!” Amanda said lightheartedly. “Honey, I think our boy Lynn knows best.” Albert said as he pulled the woman away from the student and hugged her instead. “Ah! Dear! That scared me!” Amanda complained as she was in her husband’s embrace. “You’re making me jealous of little Lynn~” Albert said in a cheery tone as well. He embraced the woman, hugging her waist and leaning his head on her shoulder. As Lynn watched the sweet scene play out he thought. ‘They’re always so in love… It’s been more than four years already and they are so happy…’  Since his parents never gave him a good example of a functioning family. Lynn felt like it was something out of reach...  However now that he’s spend so much time with the Cunninghams, he realizes that love does exist. Yet the student couldn’t help but wondered if he would have the same type of happiness that they did… *** Shameless self promotion time!
