“Well... the thing is…” She hesitated to speak, then turned to her husband, seemingly for back up.
“Honey… It’s about time you told them.” Albert said in his usual monotone voice.
“Fine…” Amanda finally agreed and took a deep breath before continuing. “Lately… my men have noticed suspicious activity around your school. I can’t help but think you might be targeted. This is just a precaution but if you’re willing... It would be best if you two return to S city with us.”
The way Amanda spoke right now was in complete contrast to her usual bubbly self. She spoke in a strong commanding voice that seemed capable of leading an army.
“You want us to return?” Ken questioned while turning to his father to ask for his opinion.
“I don’t know if it will be safer or more dangerous for you… to be around us. They’ve already made several attempts to kidnap your mother.” Albert said in a helpless voice, he truly had no idea what the best choice would be. Both situations seemed equally dangerous.
“Auntie, they’ve tried to take you in?” Lynn questioned in a calm voice, his professional tone was showing once again.
“Yes… Though I told my darling not to tell you that.” Amanda glared at her husband who didn’t even flinch at her angered expression.
“If you’re being targeted again, we’ll need more men. Should I contact my acquaintances in the field?” Lynn asked with a serious voice while not taking his eyes away from the woman.
“That won’t be necessary. We have enough people, what I’m worried about is you two. You only have each other and I know how capable you are Lynn but… against multiple opponents you’ll need assistance.” Amanda explained while turning to the boy.
Lynn seemed to be a bit hurt by those words. ‘Are my abilities being questioned?’ He wondered to himself as he stared at the ground. He’d never had something like that happen to him.
“So what do you say honey? Will you come back home?” Amanda asked while turning to her son.
“If it’s more dangerous there than I don’t see a reason to return.” Ken said in a strong voice that didn’t even resemble the usual tired tone he spoke in. “And after all… Lynn is here with me, so I’ll be safe.” He said with confidence as he glanced at the other student.
‘Young Master believes in me?’ Lynn thought as he raised his head, he disliked his abilities being questioned. So now that he knew Ken had fate in him, he was more than happy.
“Dear, please say something!” Amanda turned to her husband once again.
“How about we compromise… We’ll leave you with more guards that will be looking after you and you can stay here. What do you say?” Albert asked in a professional tone while turning to the two students.
“I’ll go wherever the Young Master decides to go.” Lynn said in his professional tone. ‘The one thing I won’t allow it so be separated from him…’ He vowed in his mind.
“I agree… Leave as many guards as you’d like.” Ken finally said after several moments of silence.
“Fine, you children are so independent sometimes that it makes me sad…” Amanda said as she slump her shoulders. She walked to the sofa where her husband was sitting. She sat down on his lap and hugged him.
“Darling, stop sulking already. Aren’t you happy our boys are all grown up?” Albert asked with a gentle voice as he hugged his wife.
“I’m happy but I’m also worried… It feels like they’d jump head first into danger.” Amanda said in a muffled voice as she pressed her face onto her husband’s chest.
“We’ll leave you two alone then…” Ken said as he gestured to Lynn to come with him. The other student followed along obediently.
After being left alone the couple continued their conversation.
“Haha… don’t they remind you a lot of us four years ago?” Albert said jokingly.
“They’re more similar to us than you can imagine.” Amanda said as she raised her head, she looked around to make sure there was no one else there.
“Well, all except we’re in a relationship while they’re just friends. Sometime though, the way they act makes it seem like they’re lovers.” Albert said in a carefree tone as he looked at his wife’s serious expression.
“Hm? Wait… honey you don’t know, do you?” Amanda asked in a surprised voice. “I thought you would have figured it out by now…”
“Figure out what?” Albert asked in a confused voice.
“Ken is attracted to men…” Amanda said while tilting her head to the side, she really believed her husband would have known by now.
Albert paused for a moment, seemingly to process the information he was just given. Then finally exclaimed “What?!”
