I stood in the corner of the venue, watching as Kayla gracefully defused Henwick's challenges and ultimately earned his respect and approval.
The girl who had been naive and innocent six years ago had transformed into a strong and elegant woman.
A smile crept onto my lips, and I hadn't even realized it. I lifted my leg, about to walk over to Kayla to congratulate her on her success, when someone beat me to it.
It was that man again, Nathan Barnes.
I stopped in my tracks, standing there, squinting my eyes as I observed their interaction. Nathan smiled as he gazed at Kayla, his eyes emanating an unusual radiance.
