The Other Side
“Uncle?” I asked into the call.
“Jay, how are you?” Uncle Vijay asked into the call.
“I’m fine. I was calling to ask how Amara was doing. Is she alright?” I asked him.
“Amara? I have no idea. I haven’t seen her. Isn’t she at your house?” He asked me.
“No … After talking with you a few days ago, I came home and gave her the papers. She signed them and left. I assumed she went back home to you Uncle.”
There was silence on the other end of the line.
“Uncle Vijay?” I repeated.
“Jay … Amara isn’t here. She hasn’t come by.” He told me.
My blood ran cold and I had this feeling in my gut that something wasn’t right.
“What do you mean? I talked to you about it. I told you that Amara would be coming home after I talked to her about the divorce.”
