Fun at the Banquet (Part 2)

Melody’s POV That bastard of a prince had nothing more to say after mama threatened him, but I felt a little ashamed. I let my guard down at the last minute and my big brothers stepped in. ‘I need more training.’ I thought to myself. ‘We are fine the way we are, baby girl. Don’t over-exert our body.’ Artemis said. Darn, I forgot to block her from that thought. ‘I know, Artemis. But I don’t want people thinking that we are just riding on our parents and older brother’s coattails in power. We are strong enough to stand up for ourselves and fight our own battles.’ She grunted, but I could feel she understood my side. A few guys helped prince jack ass up and escorted him away. Then a couple came over and bowed to me and my mama. “We are so sorry for what happened, Luna Jessabelle and young miss.” The man said. Mama turned to them. “Eric, Julia. I respect you as the king and queen you are, but your son needs major discipline. Be thankful that Melody didn’t snap his neck right off the bat. I personally trained her myself and she doesn’t take sexiest ass holes lightly.” Mama spoke calmly but with authority. They both nod and turned to me. “We are sorry, Melody.” They said in unison. I smiled and shook my head. “You did nothing wrong. I mean no disrespect to you or your kingdom, but if your son doesn’t change his outlook on the world, especially women, then he may be what brings your kingdom to ruins in the future.” I spoke honestly. They nodded and left without saying another word. I felt someone’s hand grab my chin and pull to make me look at them. I was met with angry and worried eyes from my dad. “Sorry I lost my temper again dad.” I said, meeting his gaze. He smiled and pulled me into a hug. “Don’t worry, I would have done the same thing if I had seen him hit you. My strong little wolf.” Dad said as he nuzzled into me, causing me to giggle. I hear an ear-piercing squeal and look over to a tiny she wolf draping herself all over Luca. She looks pretty as far as outside looks go. She was shorter than me, maybe about 5’10. She had long bleach blonde hair and pretty hazel eyes. Her skin was slightly tan. She was fit, but I could tell she did the bare minimum of self defense training. Her arms and long legs were just too skinny to be a real warrior. She was wearing a tiny dress black dress that if she raised her arms any higher then her underwear would be on display for the whole room. “There you are, baby. I was wondering where you were.” She said in the most annoying high pitch voice that made me want to take something and stab myself in the ears. I looked over to my brothers and their faces told me they felt the same. Artemis didn’t like her hanging off from Luca. She growled fiercely in my head. Looking back at Luca he seemed more aggravated with this girl than he did with those two princes. “Jayde, please get off me. I told you before that I am not yours, so please stop this.” The girl, Jayde, frowned for a moment then plastered her smile back on again for a show. “Oh, come on. Let's go dance, it will be just like old times.” She threw him a flirtatious wink and tried to pull Luca away. Before I knew what I was doing I reached out and gripped her wrist. Causing everyone to stop. I showed her a dazzling smile. “I am sorry, but Luca had promised me a dance first before we were interrupted by Prince Chester.” I sweetly and looked over to Luca hoping he would play along. He smiled at me. “That is true. So may I borrow your beautiful daughter for a time, Alpha Leo?” He said and looked at my dad for permission. Dad raised an eyebrow and looked at his brothers and mama to see what they thought. I heard daddy and papa growl lowly, but they nodded their heads. Mama smiled brightly and nodded hers as well. My brothers glared daggers at Luca but didn’t move or growl. I think mama linked them to be nice. Luca detached himself from Jayde’s grip and held out his hand. “Will you do me the honor of a dance, precious princess.” He said in a low voice. It sent shivers down my spine. Artemis was purring in my head, and she never purrs. I smiled and took his hand. “Gladly.” Luca escorts me away from my family and Jayde. Luca wrapped his left arm around my waist and took my right hand in his. I placed my left hand on his shoulder and we began our dance. “Thank you for coming to my rescue earlier.” He said in a hushed tone. His cheeks were a slight tint of pink. I smiled brightly. “Oh, it was my pleasure. Wolves like that I have no tolerance for. I am very outspoken and truthful.” He chuckled. “I can see that.” He whispered in my ear. Feeling his hot breath on my skin sent a strange shock of pleasure through my body. Halfway through the song, I started to feel everyone’s eyes turn our way. “Why are they staring? It is almost like they have never seen two people dance before.” I whispered, with a little agitation. I felt like an exotic animal in a cage on display. I felt the vibrations in his chest as he chuckled and looked down at me. I looked him in the eyes and could feel my cheeks heat up. “They are mostly staring at me. Probably wondering how I got such a beautiful woman like yourself to dance with someone like me.” I scrunched up my nose at him. “What do you mean someone like you? I see nothing wrong with you, and you have not given me a reason to hate you.” He looked down and sighed, then he met my eyes again. “Because I am the prince with no wolf.” Jayde POV I internally am growling my head off at this little b***h that took Luca away from me. I am leaning on the wall watching them. She is taller than me, but I know I am far prettier. She looks like she fights bears and mountain lions out in the woods every day. How could Luca be smiling like that with her? Her legs and arms are too toned with pretty thick muscles for a woman. Roxie snickers in my head. ‘I told you to let him go. She possibly could be his true mate and the mate bond is bringing them together. No matter what trick you play, human, you can not break two souls that are meant to be one.’ ‘Shut your mouth you mongrel. I will be his queen and all I have to do is bare his child. Then he would be forced to mark me as his mate by the elders.’ I block my wolf before she can respond back. I pull the vial from my handbag and a glass of werewine from a passing servant. I look around to make sure no one is watching and pour the potion into the glass. Then look up towards Luca and the worthless b***h. I clench my jaw as I see Luca leading her out to the garden from their dance. I follow them. I need to get him away from that b***h as soon as possible. I will not let her stop me. I would kill her before I let her have what is mine. Roxie’s POV Being blocked again. ‘I swear… What misdeed did I commit in a past life to be punished with this power-hungry human?’ I felt the connection the instant that girl, Melody, grabbed Jayde’s wrist. She is the one, maybe the only one that can save the prince from this horrible human of mine. I just hope and pray she will not deny me when I try to connect with her. Our mother’s chosen daughter, not of blood, but full of heart. Our Moon Princess.
