Prince Luca’s POV
I sighed as I was getting ready for the banquet held tonight in our castle for all the strong leaders of different packs from all over the world. I was not interested in attending, but I was still the crown prince… for now.
I found it harder and harder to be around others since I was 23 and still had no wolf. Not being able to connect with my wolf or complete my first shift has left my strength and senses to be no better than a human.
I combed through my hair and rolled the sleeves of my dress shirt up to my elbows. I hated being too hot. It always just made me more irritated. There was one more reason that I didn’t want to attend tonight's banquet... Jayde.
At first, I felt bad because we dated when we were younger, but whenever I kissed her it never felt right. So about a year before I came of age, I decided to break things off with her. She has been hounding me ever since about getting back together.
Even more so since I have no wolf. Everyone has been telling me over and over that with Jayde being the gamma’s daughter she would make a good queen. Especially for a future king with no wolf. I have been fighting my pack, the elders, and sometimes my parents about my situation. They all believed that since I had no wolf, I would never find my true mate even if she was right in front of me.
I know I should do what is right for the pack, and as next in line for the throne, and either marry Jayde or step down as the future king for the werewolves in North America.
I shake my head and plaster my fake public smile on my face and head down for the banquet. I step into our largest ballroom and start greeting people nearby. Most only gave a default nod or ‘hello’ like normal. Others would just give me the usual disgusted look. As if silently asking the question… ‘Why was I still here?’
“Oh, there you are. I thought for sure you were not going to show your pathetic face around here.” a voice laced with hatred and disgust filled my ears. I turned to see the two people I hated more than Jayde’s attempts to get back with me.
“Hello, Prince Chester. Prince Thomas.” I said in a greeting and slightly bowed my head to them.
Prince Chester was the crown prince for the werewolf community in South America and Prince Thomas was the crown prince in Europe. Thomas wasn’t always a bad guy, but he is a bit of a pushover when it comes to Chester.
Chester though… He is a sexiest ass hole with his head shoved so far up his ass that all he talks is s**t. He thinks he is above everyone. Especially women and humans, and since I had no wolf I was no more than human in his eyes. I tuned him out as best I could until he shoved me into the wall.
“Honestly, why don’t you just leave this pack, Luca?” Chester spat out.
“Yeah. No matter what you think, no one needs you here.” Thomas agreed. I was about to move to leave the room when I felt someone’s arms link with my arm.
“Hey Luca, so this is where you were. You promised me a dance.” a soft sweet voice called.
I looked over and saw a breathtaking angel hanging off my arm. She was taller than most women, she was maybe a little more than half a foot shorter than me, and she wasn’t wearing heels. My eyes trailed up and down her heavenly body, wanting to commit every detail of her to memory.
She had long silky-looking white hair, which was a rare trait among werewolves, deep blue eyes that sparkled like gems, clean skin with either very little to no make-up at all, and she had curves in the right places. Her dark navy blue dress stopped just above her knees and her strapless top showcased her beautiful neck.
I actually felt happy to see her neck bare and unmarked.
“Hey there, sexy. Why hang out with this pathetic excuse of a werewolf, when you can be with real ones like us?” Chester spoke, pulling my attention back to reality. He threw her his signature smirk. She scoffed as she looked him up and down.
“The only pathetic wolves I see are the two of you. Ganging up on someone two against one. That just shows how much stronger Luca is for dealing with your bull shit.” She spat with a bit of fire in her eyes. She gave them both a hard glare. They all looked shocked and at a loss for words.
This fiery little wolf was no pushover and I was over the moon watching her.
I gave her a small smile and felt her trying to pull me with her. She was trying to escort me away from these two. I wonder how she even knew my name when I didn’t even know hers. That would definitely change after tonight. I wanted to know everything about this sexy, spitfire of a woman in front of me. Chester sped in front of us with his wolf speed.
“Do you have any idea who you are talking to?” He snarled at her. Irritation, clear in his voice and eyes. This must have been the first time any woman has spoken to him like this, and he was not liking it at all.
“Honestly no, I don't, and I don't care. Now please excuse us. I would like to enjoy my date with Luca.”
I felt so happy every time she called my name, but I saw Chester smack her across the face. Leaving a red mark on her cheek. I glared up at him, ready to punch him for hitting a woman. I felt her let go of my arm, as she touched her red cheek.
“You need to be better trained before coming to a party like this, you little b***h. I am the crown prince of the werewolf clans in South America. Prince Chester Richfield. You should remember your place.”
I looked back at her, but before I could ask her if she was alright. She roundhouse kicked Chester in the chest and sent him flying across the dam room. Gasps and shocked faces filled the room as the rest of the guests were drawn to the scene before them.
“I need to be properly trained!?” She asked in a dark tone, as she walked over to Chester, who was laying on the floor. A heavy aura filled the room.
“I respect to those that I deem worthy of it. Ranks and titles mean nothing to me.” She grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and brought his face to hers.
“And a man that would raise his hand to a woman just because she shot down his pathetic attempt to woo himself into her pants for the night, is no man worth respect from me. I am the daughter of alphas, the daughter of a luna… I bow down to no man.” she roared as she glared at him. Then she shoved him away so hard and fast he hit the wall behind him, leaving a huge crack in the wall.
Chester struggled to get to his feet and catch the breath that she knocked out of him. I turned back to the girl and she turned to me and smiled. Her smile made me melt. I wanted her. Needed her. Something inside me stirred and pulled me towards this spitfire of a goddess.
Chester roared and went to grab the girl from behind, but two large bodies flew past me and grabbed him, slamming him back into the wall. They snarled at him with heavy alpha auras.
“If you ever touch our little sister again…”
“We will rip you apart piece by piece!” They growled out, finishing each other’s sentences.
I heard someone clap twice and the men released Chester and stood by the girl.
‘They called her their sister.’ I thought to myself for a quick minute. They were like her bodyguards. I turned to the one who clapped and saw Luna Jessabelle from the Raven Moon pack. She was standing there beautifully with her triplet alpha mates. Alpha Leo, Alpha Zero, and Alpha Hero. They were one of the most well-respected alphas and luna within our kingdom. The girl and her brothers walked over to her. Luna Jessabelle placed a hand on the girl's chin and looked at her cheek.
“Prince Chester, be thankful you only were kicked and thrown around a bit, but the next time you touch my daughter. I will be the one you deal with before my sons can rip you apart.” Her eyes glowed with the force of her wolf coming through her voice.
‘Wait, did she say daughter?!’ I asked myself.
Oh boy. I was crushing on the only daughter of the four most terrifying and respected wolves in the Raven Moon pack. Not to mention her two brothers are about the same size as me. I was in trouble, but when she turned her head back to me and smiled, something inside me told me it would be worth it.
