Makeover

1142 Words
Without even a bit of say in the matter, I was shoved into a room with maids, each of them having their own jobs: scrubbing my feet, cutting my nails, cleaning my whole entire body, washing my hair, putting on makeup, picking out tight-fitting dresses for me to wear etc. I wasn’t comfortable with them doing half of those stuff but as I said, I had no say. They wouldn’t listen to my pleas. Hours passed by quickly and I even managed to accidentally fall asleep in my chair then wake up god knows how long after. Sunrise is probably near, yet they are still not finished with me. My hair was the last of it, but it seemed the maid who was working on it, was deliberately trying to take forever. Her hands were literally moving like snails, and she kept pulling the strands harshly any chance she got. My neck was hurting from all the pulling and dragging she’d been doing. The others weren’t any better either, they whispered amongst themselves like high school kids. Then again, I shouldn’t even call it whispering when they were talking loud enough for me to hear from the other side of the room. Basically, my first day here wasn’t anything I expected. I thought I’d hold a lot of power now that I’ve been claimed as his soulmate, but no one seemed to give a rat’s ass about me aside from when they’re gossiping. Even the Prince spoke like I’m some sort of prisoner. Will this continue on forever? “It’s getting irritating to even look at the back of her head!” The ‘whispers’ started up again, but I was too curious to know what exactly they thought of me to even try and block them out. “Why should we have to do this for her?” “Yeah, when she’s just a vampire like us!” “I don’t believe that it’s her. She looks more filthy than us.” “Aren’t you tired of all this chit chat? You better shut up if you don’t want to get in trouble. The Prince doesn’t take disrespect lightly.” Another maid piped in, rolling her eyes as she packed dresses into the closet meanwhile the others folded. I just noticed that she hadn’t spoken at all aside from now. She was the shortest of them all and also, seemed like the oldest. I’ll make a mental note that she’s the only good one. “Oh come on, Ali!” A maid they called Bella scoffed at her words. “Does it look like he cares? He went off with the King just after she entered the palace. It was to be expected though, why would a vampire be the prince’s mate?” “I heard he’s been searching among the she-wolves but never found her…its why the king gathered them when he came back.” “I feel sorry for him, she’s the worst of all the women.” Oh wow. Thanks. I get the feeling that they’re only talking crap because I seem cool about it. If it were Stacy, I’m sure she wouldn’t have let them be. Speaking of which, I wonder how she’s doing. If she knew how things were going here, I doubt she’d still want to get in. “Is my hair done?” I asked. From what I could see through the mirror, my hairstyle was pretty bad. It basically just looked like a bunch of ropes tangled up on my head. I could’ve done a better job doing a messy bun at the top, so I guess the ‘no effort’ was intentional. “I don’t think there’s anything else that needs to be done.” Without waiting for her reply, I smacked her hand and got up from my seat, wincing when my neck stung with pain. And it wasn’t just the neck either, my whole body was cramping and my limbs felt like sluggish jellies. All that 'make over’ made me drowsy as hell again too. If this is supposed to happen again, then I’d die of exhaustion for sure. “I was told to take you to the meeting room once you’re finished.” Meeting room? I had wondered why they dressed me in a stylish dress, nice earrings and glistening silver heels at this hour, am I supposed to meet that disgusting Prince again? Honestly, I don’t want to. One look from him makes me feel strange. I wonder what makes him so… should I say 'different'? I couldn’t stop staring! Do those werewolves have another power that we vampires don’t know about? Something like hypnosis, maybe? But I want to know where I stand in this palace so I actually need to talk to him. If I truly hold no power like the maids clearly think, then there would be no reason for me to stay here. “Are you coming?” Ali, the nice maid was standing by the door, her hand on the knob as she waited for me to come out. It seemed the other women had left while I was stuck in thought. Nodding, I bent down a bit to clutch the bottom of the dress that flared off before quickly stepping out of the room. As we began to walk down the hall, I took long glances at everything I could. The golden chandelier and the wolf sculptures scattered over the place were absolutely majestic. The furniture looked completely untouched, the railings were made of glass and there wasn’t a spec of dirt that I could find. Aside from the room I was just in, there were like a million other rooms in the whole palace, each of them large enough to hold a dozen elephants. People like them don’t deserve to live in places like this. “You look completely different, like a whole new woman.” A familiar voice drew my attention away from the view downstairs and to the man standing a few steps in front of me. Prince Dexter… W-When did he get here? I halted immediately, hands quickly releasing its hold on my dress and instead clasping together. My palms began to sweat like crazy. He was no longer in formal clothing but wearing a night robe. His collarbone was completely bare to the eyes and there was a split that ran straight down to the middle of his toned abs where the robe tied. I rubbed my palms together and quickly lowered my gaze to the floor. But my head barely stayed in that position for a mere three seconds before a finger pressed under my chin, lifting my head so I was staring up at his now grinning face. “Did you deliberately hide these curves beneath that ugly piece of cloth you were wearing?”
