"Agnes?" I called. "Elora, who is getting behea-" "Shhh..." I quickly covered her mouth before she could say more. "No one. Me and Andrew were just joking around." I said, releasing her. "Why are you here?" "You were looking for Andrew earlier. I was wondering if you found him and if you got home safely." "Oh Agnes, thank you." "You know how Elora gets worried easily." my brother chimed in and I nod my head to that. "It was nothing. I found Andrew was just talking to some of his friends so I dragged him away." "Uhh, I see..." There was still a hint of suspicion in her eyes as she stared at me, nodding her head. "Then, I will be on my way. The moon festival is just around the corner and I might be needing your help." "Mmm..." I and Andrew watched her leave. When she was finally out of sight, we exchanged glances and I sighed heavily. "Let's go inside." ..... Later that night, I couldn't sleep. Each time I tried, I was pulled into the nightmare that had been hunting me for years now. There was fire everywhere. I was choking on the smoke, about to die from it. I couldn't see whatever was in front of me but I could hear familiar voices calling my name. The flames surrounded me and I tried my best to avoid it. I tried my best to hold on and survive but the others probably didn't want that. Something heavy and covered in flames had fallen me and I started to feel my skin burn. It was painful to feel your flesh burning while you were still alive. It was like an indescribable torture. Of course I died. No one could survive something like that. But I didn't expect to find myself in a different world a while later. In a different body with a different face. In the modern world, we all thought werewolves were myths but here, they were real. As real as they could ever be. But the body I had possessed was wolf less. It was one of the reasons she died in such a pitiful way. I don't know if I am in a completely different world or just in a different timeline but one thing is for sure, I died, Elora died, and while my soul is alive in her body, I don't know if it's the same back there. Is her soul completely gone or is she somewhere? I was no more than an imposter. A snitchy spy with the code name Kay. The legendary spy who could infiltrate through any secret organization no matter how strong the security was back in the world I came from. It meant I constantly dealt with dangerous people and after being given this chance to live again in a completely different world, I wanted to give myself a chance to live like a decent human being. Maybe repent for all the sins I have committed during the years but who knew, who knew that was never going to happen after meeting that man? A knock sounded on the window and I glanced sharply at it. "Elora?" It was Andrew's voice. I opened the window to see his worried face. "I have something to tell you." "What is it?" "I was out just now and-" "You were out?" My brows furrowed, hoping this was not what I thought it was. "You were working as a Spy again?" "Look, I have no choice. I cannot decline an order." I scoffed at that. I knew very well how that works. "That's not important right now. There is huge news." "What is it?" Andrew hesitated before he told me. "The Marshal is dead." My mouth opened and closed in shock and I swallowed. "What do you mean?" "He was killed." Andrew gulped. He wanted to hold my hand but I took them away. "I understand." a little shaken, I told him. "I didn't want to tell you earlier but those people might come here. What if the general finds you?" "I'll think of something." I said and closed the window, sliding on my back down to the floor. I held my head as I let Elora's memories engulf my mind. The general was Elora's father and she had only joined this family five years ago when she clocked nineteen and almost died in the hands of her step sisters. I remembered her desperately begging the Marshal to take her away from that house with tears in her eyes. The moment her mother died was when her nightmare began. There was no one to protect her any longer so the new lady of the house and her daughters would bully her to a point of no return. When the Marshal had managed to sneak her out and brought her to this remote village, Elora had thought that was the end but it wasn't. One fateful day, she had bumped into two of her sisters, she tried to run but they were quick to catch her. They dragged her to a deserted corner and started to ask her questions of how she suddenly disappeared. When Elora refused to answer, they banged her head to the wall, maybe hoping to torture her a bit but it turned out to be... The end. Elora's memories stopped here when I woke up in her body. Because she died. I had tried to investigate the general's family and like I expected, it was messy. Of course, I wanted revenge for Elora since she was treated so unfairly but I couldn't waste my second chance like that. What if it all went wrong? Besides, I love my present family. Mother treated me like her own child, Andrew treats me like his very own sister. They gave me what no one had ever given to me and I was truly grateful for that. They were the only people I could lay down my lives for if it meant they get to be happy. We all love each other and I couldn't ask for anything more but now the Marshal's death is suspicious. His influence and protection were what kept me hidden all this time but I guess that was going to change. it won't be long before the general finds me. No doubt, if he does, he will drag me back to that house. I have to do something to stop it.
