Chapter Twelve
On the occasion of the second Sunday lesson, Tom was invited to lunch the following Sunday week. Tom appeared on time, as usual, but bearing a gift of a kilo of red cherries, a fruit that was available only rarely in Phichai market. He handed them to Pang saying, “My meagre contribution to your wonderful table”.
Lek was by now completely besotted with Tom and he had all her family except Bang and Chalita eating out of his hand too, and Ayr and Goong were two of his biggest fans.
Tom played his role with ease, since he had long had the requisite charm to draw people to him. He was charismatic, and knew it all to well.
