“Ashe, what happened to your face?” I groaned, looking up from the floor and meeting the eyes of Niamh. She wasn’t as bad as mother was, but then again, mother was standing beside her, her hands on her hips as she stared at me, a question on her face as she waited for my answer. I could feel both of their dark green eyes piercing into me, searching me, staring at the damn cut on my face. It was the same cut mother made a few weeks ago, but Jaelyn accidentally opened it again when she smacked me. The wound throbbed in a way that told me it would be infected if I didn’t use healing leaves, and I had been hurrying to get to the room before anyone could see it. I should have been paying more attention.
