Dave drove Max to the hotel room. He handed Max a key card. Room 117.
Max didn't understand. He walked to the room and opened the door.
Jane Knight was sitting on the king size bed. She was startled when he just walked in. She stared at her former lover. He walked over to her and sat down.
" I guess we need to talk,"she said.
" Thanks for agreeing to meet me here Max."
He shrugged, "Didn't know that I was. The driver told me Jeff Allen was asking for me."
Jane pursed her lips. "I see."
That changed a few things.
"You can go then, if you don't want to be here."
He wanted to.
He said, "I'm interested in what you have to say, you owe me at least that."
Jane agreed. She began at the ending of their affair.
"Your step dad Tim and your mother Karen, they threatened me with a law suit."
She stood up now and walked to the window.
"I was given a choice, between two envelopes. One was a lengthy law suit, breach of contract, pain and suffering ect. The other one, a non disclosure contract, a pay off and instructions to never contact you again, then they took my phone to be sure that I couldn't."
He sneered,"Of course you took the second option, the one that benefitted you the most."
She nodded. "Yes, I did take the second one."
He was livid now.
He moved to face her, he drew his hand back and slapped her face.
Her neck snapped back. She deserved that, she supposed.
She sat down. She didn't fight him back.
He grabbed her shirt and lifted her up. He kissed her hard on her lips, bruising her.
Max threw her down onto the bed and pinned her there.
She shook her head. "Not like this, you aren't this person Max."
He ripped her pants off and moved over her violently.
He was wild, like an animal. He had so much pent up anger. He had to punish her.
He dreamed of this moment, seeing her again. He would make her hurt as much as he and his family had.
He kissed her hard. She didn't respond to him. She knew that whatever she did or said it would be wrong.
She started to cry now, silent tears running down her face. He was punishing her.
She didn't fight him.
She wanted him to hurt her, to get it out.
She was his, she gave herself to him so many times before.
She turned her head. Her cheek was red where he had hit her.
He moved angrily against her, roughly thrust himself into her.
He began to move over and over again, angrily.
Jane held herself stiffly to avoid reacting. He continued cruelly, gritting is teeth.
His face contorted into someone unrecognizable to her now, she put the back of her hand over her mouth to prevent a scream as he hurt her.
He didn't stop until he found his release. He shoved into her body, one last time with a loud groan, he finally stopped.
Max lay his head on her shoulder, breathing so hard, he bit her there.
She didn't react, just held her hand over her mouth, sobbing, then covered her eyes.
He shoved himself off of her. He saw the wounded look of shock and pain on her red face.
He couldn't look at her anymore.
He got dressed and left, slamming the door behind him.
Jane went to the bathroom and got cleaned up. She got her clothes on and crawled into the hotel bed.
Dave called her a few minutes later, he asked her if she was ready to go home.
He had seen Max storm out, he passed by his waiting car and ran off down the street.
Jane told him she would stay tonight.
She was embarrassed that Max had used her, punished her. She didn't fight. She didn't say no.
She wanted him to make love to her.
Love didn't enter the picture tonight. Jane cried herself to sleep.
Max was so angry at Jane. He lost it. He had never treated a woman like that before.
He took a cold shower. She didn't even fight him, she just lay there crying.
He was breathing hard. He went to the mini fridge and took a shot of whiskey.
He took another and then trying to forget her, pulled out his computer and went to work.
He couldn't think about what he had just done.
The next day....
Jane called Sasha to prepare for her flight this am. She hadn't spoken to Jeff.
She was heading to Toronto to start the A Rebels Mistress book tour.
She didn't say a word to Sasha about her visitor last night.
She didn't know how she could say anything.
She was numb.
Sasha answered in her chipper voice. "I'm heading to the Jeff Allen building to have Jeff sign off on the rider for your tour."
Jeff had insisted on paying for her book tour, so Jane could have all of the best during her travels.
Sasha said," I'm almost there now, did he call you yet, it was a crazy night."
Jane told her that he had not.
Jeff was taking a quick shower, he needed to clean off the scent of the girls he had been with last night.
He was avoiding Jane. He knew that she went home ill.
He took advantage of that and had the time of his life with all of the pretty girls.
Sasha went up to the Penthouse.
Jeff's secretary let her in.
"Jeff will be right out."
Sasha moved over to Jeff's desk, in a hurry to get going.
She rummaged through the files on his desk, "Hmm, where is it?"
She pulled open the side drawer.
There was a green file folder. She flipped it open.
She saw horrible pictures of a young woman, black eye, a bruised lip.
There was a man in the pictures, his eyes were closed in all of them.
She wondered who was this abuser? She was disgusted.
On the last photo she saw something out of place.
The last photo was of the girl, smiling.
The hand touching her face had a thick gold ring on the pinky finger.
She saw that ring before, somewhere.
Jeff was coming toward her now, she stuffed the photos back into the drawer and turned to face him.
" Darling, "she said. She gave him an air kiss on each cheek.
He held her hand to his lips.
She gasped, involuntarily. The ring! It was Jeff's hand in those photos.
He looked sheepish.
He backed away from her, thinking maybe she had smelled the s*x on him from the night before.
Sasha frowned at him. "Do you have the rider ready?"
He shook his head, no. "Sorry, I will have my driver bring it over, soon."
Sasha nodded. She wanted to get out of there.
As she left the penthouse, she pushed the elevator button. When the doors opened, she jumped back.
It was him, the man in the photos. He looked angry.
He pushed her as he moved past her.
He quickly turned around to apologize. "Sorry, I didn't mean to push you, I'm MT."
He introduced himself.
She frowned and moved away from him.
He wondered how she had known that he was a monster.
MT knocked on Jeff's door.
"Come in!" Jeff yelled.
MT was all fired up. He handed Jeff an IP address. "I worked through the night. I got it, I traced it to a small beach house on Vancouver Island. We got the SOB."
Jeff hadn't expected that Max would have found it so soon. He had used Jane's computer to lure MT and his company to Canada.
Good thing Jane was boarding a plane now.
He patted MT on the back.
"Great job Max! My men will take it from here.
We don't want to draw media attention to this, not good for the company image."
Max nodded.
Something didn't sit right with Jeff's response.
Jeff had acted as if he had expected the IP address of the cyber threat to be from a local source.
It was unusual. Most threats had been from over seas.
Max left and went back to his room. He grabbed his cell phone and walked down the street.
He put up his hood and ducked into a coffee bar.
He put his back to the wall, sitting at the last table so he could see if he had been followed there.
Max called Tim Turner, his step dad. " Dad there's something fishy going on here."
He told him about Jeff's response to the cyber threat and about his suspicions.
He wondered why Jane would actually want to marry this guy.
Thinking about what Jane had told him last night, why she had left him, why she had crushed his soul.
He abruptly changed the subject then, and asked Tim about the contract that he had made with Jamie.
Tim swallowed hard, he knew this day would come.
" I supposed you would find out sometime. She used us all, Max. She was evil.
We offered her the money, she took it right away. She said she wouldn't drag you boys in a media frenzy of a lengthy trial.
She acted so concerned. She even waited almost a whole year before cashing that damn check.
I'm sure she wanted to uphold her innocent image.
I mean the way she came onto me that day at the house.
No one blamed you for being seduced by her, she was a slut."
Max frowned. He was wrong. Jamie was innocent.
She wasn't evil, she was protecting him and his family this whole time.
He sat back in his chair and told Tim he had to go and hung up.
He called Dave, the driver. He asked him if he could take him to see Jane.
He told Max, "I will never make that mistake again. He hung up on Max."
