Jane Knight walked into the busy room.
There were bright lights flashing all around her as she entered.
Jeff Allen was by her side, he was in a tailored tuxedo. He looked every bit the concerned fiance. He put his hand out to shield his eyes from the flashing lights, his gold ring reflecting brightly off of the flashes.
He was holding her up with his arm tightly around her small waist.
She wore all black.
Her dress was long with long sleeves and black buttons in the back that buttoned all the way up her spine, the collar covered her neck.
She had dark sun glasses on covering her swollen red eyes.
Her blond hair was pulled back severely in silver hairclips.
Jeff had handed her over to her glam team and told them what he wanted her to wear.
She was just a shell, she couldn't do anything right now or make any decisions.
She allowed him to make decisions for her, it was just easier.
Max had been staying hidden from Jeff, as Jeff had ordered him to go back to work at the Jeff Allen tower.
Max could barely stand the thought of Jane leaving his room after seeing the video on Sasha's freak accident.
He had been caring for Sasha's poor husband Peter as Jane had asked him to do so.
Jane moved forward now, wanting to get this over with, wondering if she could even speak.
She allowed Jeff to hold her up because she was too drained to stop him.
Jane peeled his hands off of her, and pushed him away as she stumbled up to the podium. He looked at her frowning.
She made a mewling sound, Jeff released her.
She grabbed a hold of the microphone making it squeal loudly.
The crowd murmured. She was there to talk about Sasha her beloved publicist, her manager, the best friend that she had ever had in her entire life. Her only family.
She stood there. She sniffled and made an involuntary high pitched moaning sound.
They were calling her name.
"Jane, Jane, over here."
The flashes were making her dizzy. The room became a tunnel.
Jeff moved to the side to talk to a female reporter that he knew.
Jane put her gloved hand on her forhead. "I can't,"she thought.
The crowd slowly quieted.
She looked around. She cleared her throat. Her hand started to shake.
She took the microphone in her shakey hand, something she was usually very comfortable in doing as Jane knight, but right now-she was simply Jamie.
She said,"I.....then she could say any more.
The room began to spin.
A man approached her, he was dressed in all black, blond hair looking slicked back on the sides with the top combed over neatly to the side.
He was wearing a tailored suit and black wool over coat.
He took command as he quickly marched up to the podium where Jane was trying to speak.
He saw her shaking. He knew every breath, her every mannerism.
He smoothly climbed the stairs in one big leap.
He landed onto the stage with a thud and marched up to Jane Knight.
He caught her just as she had passed out. She melted into his lean body.
He picked her up into his strong arms.
He stopped for one moment.
He turned, giving Jeff Allen a scathing look for guilting Jane into this publicity circus.
He made the decision to follow Jane there, knowing what it might cost him, cost both of them.
He turned, hiding her face in his chest, he did his best to avoid the cameras as he carried her out to the street below.
Dave drove up in Jeff Allen's car and opened the door.
It was a media s**t show.
The cameras were trying to capture every moment of the romantic rescue.
The women there were sighing. They all wondered,
" Who was that handsome man?"
Cameras were flashing brightly at all of the commotion.
Max placed Jane into the back seat of the car and sat down, setting her onto his lap.
He yelled at Dave, "Please, go now!"
Dave drove off seeing Jeff Allen striding down the stairs towards them.
Dave carried them away from the crowd, away from his boss, away from his job.
He knew that he would be fired.
His phone rang, it was Jeff Allen.
Jeff told him that he would pay heavily for this, he would be sure that Dave never worked in Vancouver again.
Max lifted Jane's chin and gently kissed her.
He carefully removed her dark glasses and seeing her wet eyes, wiped her tears away- kissing her swollen eyelids.
He held her as she cried.
"Max, how did you get here, I thought you were still at the hotel, did Jeff see you?"
He smiled, "Welcome back my love, shhhh...don't talk now."
He ran his strong hands through her hair, releasing her hair clips. He looked at his broken angel and wondered what she had gone through when she was all alone, banished to Canada.
She was so strong this woman if his.
Sasha had helped her to rebuild her life.
She loved Sasha like a sister, a mother, a friend.
Dave drove very well.
He managed to get them back to the hotel before the paparazzi had arrived.
Max shielded Jane and carried her all the way to the elevator and into his own room.
He layed her on his bed.
She rolled over and cried, grieving for the loss of her best friend.
Peter saw her there and asked what had happened.
Max told him about it. He looked angry.
He told Max,"I need to speak to you privately, Sasha told me some things about incriminating photos of you Max, you and a young woman, she was going to the press with some evidence that pointed the photos back to Jeff Allen."
Max frowned.
"Sasha died because she was protecting me?"
He ran his fingers through his hair.
He hugged Peter tightly.
"I am so sorry, I didn't know she was going to the press. I would have told her to let me handle it."
Peter nodded. "She said as much, I don't blame you Max."
He started to cry and went to the balcony for some fresh air.
Max frowned thinking about everything. His phone rang just then.
Dave was calling Max to ask if he could come up.
" I got no where else to go, Jeff Allen just fired me. I need to check on Jane."
Max knew Dave had been a loyal friend to Jane Knight. He knew Dave was devoted to her.
Max gave him the room number.
"Jane will be very upset about this, do not tell her please."
Dave agreed.
"Dave, I just happen to need a driver, someone loyal, a good man just like you. Dave would you consider it?"
Dave was eager to see Jane.
He couldn't stand the thought of not seeing her every day.
He was half in love with her.
He tried to hide it from her and his wife.
He knew that she belonged to Max, not Jeff.
He would accept the job.
He thanked Max and told him,
"I will protect her with my life sir."
Max said," Calm down there Dave, that's my job!"
Dave laughed.
They all stayed together in Max's room.
Max ordered room service for the 4 of them.
Dave went to pick up a new car for Max.
He saw Jeff Allen in the lobby. He walked defiantly towards him, he handed him his work ID and the keys to the car.
He didn't say a word.
Jeff was fuming.
He grabbed Dave by the throat. He saw Dave's eyes bulge.
Jeff saw the fear in his eyes.
He was crushing Dave's windpipe.
Dave tried to pry Jeff's fingers off of him.
The hotel security guard ran up to Jeff Allen and tackled him to the ground.
Dave fell back. Jeff was still choking him.
Dave moved side ways on the floor, kicking his legs.
The security guard hit Jeff over the head with his heavy flash light.
His hands released from Jeff's grip. Dave breathed heavily. He rubbed his red throat.
The security guard asked him if he was okay.
I will call the police.
Dave grabbed his arm.
"No please, I'm fine." He didn't want the police to come adding more publicity and dragging Jane through the mud.
She had just lost Sasha.
No one saw the large man sitting in the corner.
He had a news paper in front of him. He was watching it all.
He stood up and turned to make a phone call.
He notified his boss that Jeff Allen had just attacked a man in the hotel lobby.
It was time to sit him down and have a little talk about his behaviors lately.
It was embarrassing to the whole family.
Unacceptable.
Jeff needed to break it off with Jane Knight now.
He needed to get in control. Jeff's father was not happy with what he had been hearing.
All the women at the Jeff Allen tower, going to brothels. Unacceptable.
The man went over and pick Jeff up, carrying him to the waiting limo.
