| 6 | Birth parents.

1776 Words
Both Kayla and Naomi remain silent as they let their Mother’s words register in their minds. Kayla’s birth parents were Lycans… and they had abilities, just like she does. “They had powers?” Kayla repeats, wanting to make sure she heard correctly and once she sees her Mother nod her head slowly, she knows it’s true. “What were their powers?” Kayla then asks and her Mother remains silent for a few seconds as if she is trying to recall a specific memory, her gaze focused on her lap as she thinks carefully. “Your father could heal people… just by touching them… it was unlike anything I’ve ever seen…” Trina answers Kayla. “And your mother…she could control water… large masses of it, produce it out of thin air even. However, she rarely used his abilities, neither of them did…” She carries on and as she explains further, Naomi finds herself growing angrier… “Their powers were non-destructive… and yet Raymond wanted them dead...” Naomi interjects, making Kayla and Trina look at Naomi, both of them immediately seeing how upset she is becoming and Trina has to admit, it’s a frightening sight… “They were still Lycans, and by Raymond’s decree, there were to be no Lycans in the Black Moon Pack…” Trina explains and Naomi can’t help the growl that rumbles in her throat, making Kayla turn to look at her sister worriedly, reaching for her hand and grabbing hold of it to ensure that she stays calm. Naomi then stares down at her baby sister as soon as she feels her take hold of her hand, seeing the look in her eyes and knowing that she wants her to remain calm… and so that’s exactly what she’ll do. “I need to know more about them… do you know if they have any living relatives?” Kayla then asks, turning her attention back to her Mom once she sees that Naomi is making an effort to calm down. She watches as a frown returns to her face, a much deeper one than before, and it makes her shake her head in response to Kayla’s question. “I don’t think it’s a good idea, Kayla…” She answers quietly and Kayla herself frowns back at her Mother eventually letting go of Naomi as she tries not to grow even more impatient with her Mom. “It’s not up to you… you’re either going to tell me or I’ll go searching myself…” Kayla warns her and Trina sighs slowly to herself, glancing at Naomi as well and seeing the same expression printed on her face. There is nothing Trina can hide from them anymore, sooner or later, they’re going to find out everything. “Fine…” Trina answers defeatedly, not wanting to fight her daughters anymore on the matter. All she wants to do is make things right, and it starts with this… “Your Mother’s sister… I believe she’s still alive… her name is Mona Willson. But she is not a part of this Pack. She is part of the Greyshades Pack. Perhaps you will be able to find some answers from her…” Trina tells Kayla whilst staring back at her and once Kayla hears that she has some living relatives on her birth’s side, relief washes over her entire face, making her smile falter as she exhales softly. “Okay…” Kayla nods at her and Trina nods back in response, being glad that she is able to grant Kayla some solace, but at the cost of breaking her own heart… “Mom…” Naomi calls for her, and Trina turns to look at her, finding her standing with her arms at her sides, a much more relaxed expression on her face than the one she had on before. “Since you’ve told us part of the truth… then I think it’s fair for us to tell you as well…” Naomi begins to say and Kayla is now staring at her sister as well, trying to figure out what exactly she could be talking about. “Kayla and I have both awakened our abilities...” Naomi finally deadpans and Kayla prolongs her gaze on Naomi before slowly turning to look at her Mother, watching the cookout completely drain from her face, fear now evident on her features. “Both of you...?” Trina is almost terrified to ask as she glances between both her daughters, watching as Kayla stands up and walks over to Naomi, both of them looking back at their Mom. “Yes…” Kayla confirms, glancing up at Naomi once she recalls Naomi showing her her powers for the first time. “What are they?” Trina then asks, continuing to glance between both girls and being extremely eager to see what they are… but at the same time, she is dreading it. Simply because she knows she will have to tell Naomi the truth about where she comes from as well… “I still haven’t completely figured mine yet… But so far, I know I can create this light golden light energy… I don’t know what it does yet.” Kayla is the first to say, carefully holding her hand out in front of her and trying to focus on making the golden orb of light form on her hand. After a few moments, they all watch as Kayla’a entire hand begins to glow gold, an aura of light shimmering against her skin as Kayla slowly moves her fingers around. “Astonishing…” Her Mother lets out softly as she watches in awe, looking between Kayla’s hand and her face as a small smile appears on her face. Though she is amazed at what her daughters’ abilities are, she fears the threat to her safety that comes with her being a Lycan… “And you Naomi?” Trina then asks just as Kayla slowly forms a fist, making the golden aura of light disappear at her command. Naomi then glances between her Mother and Kayla before she sucks in a deep breath and exhales slowly, holding her hand out to in front of her and focusing on bringing forth the flame she was able to control earlier on. Almost instantly, a large flame appears on Naomi's hand as she opens the palm of her hand, the fire startling both Kayla and her Mother, but not Naomi, considering this is only the third time she is using her power. “Fire…” Naomi answers quietly, watching the flame continue to flicker against her hand, bringing her no pain at all as she controls the fire in her hand. Trina then slowly stands up from the edge of the bed and takes a cautious step towards her daughter, continuing to eye her fearfully. “Dear goddess…” She mutters under her breath “It is not burning you?” She then asks as she glances between Naomi’s eyes and her hand, seeing that her daughter is completely unfazed by the fact that she can control fire… or perhaps it’s because there’s is something else that’s currently occupying her mind. “No, it’s not…” Naomi answers, her voice firm and monotonous. She keeps her gaze on her Mother and exhales slowly before she eventually closes the palm of her hand and forms a fist instead, taking a few steps towards her and making her look into her daughter’s eyes instead. “Now something doesn’t add up. If you’re not Kayla’s Mother, and her parents were Lycans… how come I also have powers when we have no blood connection. Why do I have powers, and yet I am not a Lycan?” Naomi begins to say and Trina feels her heart race once her daughter confronts her, seeing it in her eyes that she is incredibly eager to find out the truth. “You clearly don’t have the Lycan gene… and you once told Kayla and me that our Father is the one with the Lycan gene. So what’s really the truth here, Mom?” Naomi asks her and Trina gulps quietly as she tries to think of a proper way to phrase what she is about to say to her… and a few moments of careful thinking, she is finally able to. “I am your birth mother, Naomi… but your Father, my Mate… was not your biological Father…” Naomi says quietly and Naomi inhales slowly and lets out a strained breath. “Start explaining…” Naomi orders, not being upset about her ‘Father’ not being her real father considering she barely knew the man… but because her Mother kept even more secrets from her and Kayla. “This was during a time where… people were extremely impatient with finding their Mates… some believed they never would… and it was common to date before finding the one you were truly meant to be with…” Trina is wary to explain, slowly walking back to the edge of the bed and taking a seat once again while Naomi and Kayla remain standing across from her. “At the time, before I found my Mate… the Black Moon had a visitor… an Alpha at the time that came from the North…” Trina carries on explaining, her gaze focused elsewhere as if she is reliving a memory. “He was easy with his words… and one thing led to another…” She carries on shamefully, finally being able to bring herself to look Naomi in the eye and finding her staring back at her deeply, following every detail of her story. “I got pregnant with you, and when I told him what had happened… he told me to get rid of you… and he was not willing to stay because I was not his Mate… he was a cruel man, and he left me once and wanted nothing to do with me once he saw I was going to keep you…” Trina tells Naomi, her heart breaking once she remembers how he wanted her to get rid of her own daughter… “What was his name?” Naomi then asks and Trina exhales deeply, glancing at Kayla as well to find her paying careful attention. “Bryron Savauge… and at the time, he was the Alpha of the Orion Blood Pack.” Their mother finally answers and at the mention of that name, Kayla and Naomi both turn to look at each other curiously, both of them finding it somewhat familiar… they just can’t place how, and while… but it’s only a matter of time before they figure it out.
