... Friends?

Chapter 24 - Present Another peaceful morning began as Mirror Night's members who had a day off the other day began to wake up, returning to their usual routines... Something not much different for the D'Alberto family. That way, the sound of the alarm set on Aaron's smartphone was what woke him up before he realized he had slept in his son's bed once again, turning it off right away so the noise wouldn't wake up his son as well. ...Carefully leaving the room, the smell of coffee and the blender noise told him that the others were already awake when he went to the bathroom before joining them... "Goddess! Where have you gone to, Aaron?! You're reeking like you were bathed in a mixture of rotten fish and spoiled wine!" ... However, the reception welcoming him was a thousand times beyond what he expected... "WHAT?! I didn't shower last night before bed since I planned to do that after putting Ed to bed. But I'm not smelling that bad, Ronnie." Stopping on his way to the kitchen, Aaron quickly snapped back to his younger brother before sniffing his own shirt, confirming what he had said. "No way, man! You are smelling so FREAKING much, so don't come here!" Yet his words hardly seemed to have any effect on the teenager who soon disagreed with him. "I'm serious, man. If you want everyone to be able to eat our breakfast in peace today, stay there, and I'll put something for you in a minute. Seriously. That's a friend's advice." And as if he wasn't a few years younger than Aaron, Ronnie finished saying it, pointing at the couch. "... Dad, Sabrina, can you two say something, please? It is ridiculous, and Ronnie needs someone to remind him that he doesn't have Werewolf blood like Sabrina and Ed." Shocked by his brother's words, the young man asked for the other two adults there to help him. "I'm not stinking, am I?" And while his age seemed to have moved back a few years while saying so, the couple exchanged glances first before; finally, his father spoke up. "You... You're not stinking as bad as your brother said, son." Aaron was happy with Charlie's answer for a moment... Until he realized that what he had told him wasn't very good either. "But I would recommend a very long and nice bath to you, son." ...The older Human was kind by telling him that he didn't smell too bad, although the odor was as terrible for him as it was for Ronnie... "I agree with your father, Aaron. And I would truly appreciate it if you could eat breakfast on the couch today...Or even in your room if possible!" ...The unpleasant mixture described by her younger stepson was nothing compared to the smelly scent Sabrina was experiencing at that moment while she tried to figure out why his odor had become so bad… "Guys! Really?! Where are the cameras? You guys can only be trying to prank me, right? I'm not stinking like that... or am I?" Losing confidence in his arguments, the young man ended up asking back his father and stepmother only to see them nodding back at him, confirming what he couldn't believe to be true. The smell of his shirt was still the scent of the perfume that he wore every single day, and even his deodorant seemed to be okay to Aaron, although his last shower had been on the previous morning. "I knew I should have asked that when we came home the other day, but since it was very subtle... I put it aside by mistake." ... As his stepmother began to address him, Aaron stopped listening to her for a moment, thinking about the worst that could happen next... Somehow, imagining that she already knew about the truth, he hadn't told anyone the day before, not even his friends, afraid that they were still in the Pack's house and someone else might overhear them. "I was pretty sure you must have taken the wrong bottle from my collection, but since nothing was missing, it made me think it was something you drank when you were waiting for us back at the Pack." However, unlike what he expected, Sabrina was actually mentioning the rare wines that Humans shouldn't drink, even if it was supposedly only made with wolfsbane to weaken the Werewolves, allowing the alcohol to work in their bodies in the same way as it did in anyone else's. "Ahhh! You meant it!" Almost giving himself away, Aaron spoke before quickly correcting himself. "A-a-a friend of mine gave me some at the Pack's house, but I didn't think the side effects would be anything like that since nothing has ever happened to dad before..." "Goddess!" Rolling her eyes, the young man could see her daughter in Sabrina for a second before the she-wolf moved on with her explanation. "Your friends should have warned you that it wasn't one made for our kind as the one I gave Giselle for her birthday." Like there were different races of Supernatural Beings, there were also unique drinks created by them, which worked best only for their kinds, if not for the few exceptions done by the Witches. "They must have gotten something mixed with spells, which are pretty unique and rare, besides having the worst consequences for Humans who drink them." "So is this why you guys are telling me that I'm smelly, even if I can't sense anything different on myself?" That was an inevitable question that Aaron should do to her, seeing how the woman covered her nose while speaking to him. "Pretty much!" And simple as that, Sabrina agreed with him right away. "You were the one who drank it, so it would be weird if you could either smell or see what's wrong with you... Although I've heard other Werewolves from my past Pack said they've seen all sorts of side effects in Humans before, making it also possible." "But in that case, why didn't we smell it yesterday when we came home?" This time, the question was asked by her husband, curious since he had never had to deal with something like that. ... The worst thing he had ever actually felt was a bad case of heat, to the point that he wanted to spend the day in a bathtub filled with ice after he drank the wine from his wife's glass by mistake... "Usually, it has to do with the amount you drink and how long it takes for it to leave the person's body since usually any side effect only shows up after one or two days... But don't worry, I think I have something for that in my room, although it will still take a few hours for you to get back to normal, and don't drink stuff like that again! You're lucky that I still have it, or you would stay like this for almost a week." Sabrina quickly stated, rolling her eyes again before leaving to get the medicine from her room. And so, the couple left Aaron alone with his brother in the space shared by the kitchen and living room, and when his eyes met Ronnie's... ... An unexpected comment was said by him... “... Friends? Really?”
