Chapter 6 - Present - Giselle "No! I don't want to go today! I want to stay with Mommy! I want to stay in the store with you!" Such simple words said by the pup were enough to make Giselle's quieter than any other place in the world, as if someone had passed away in there while the way that Aaron looked at her was colder than the freezing winter then. "I already told you don't to teach any stupid thing like this to my son!" Whispering yelling, the man said to the young woman, going against the emotions in his chest. "... I swear... It's better this be the last time I tell you that, or I will never let him be with you again." There were a lot of worse things Aaron wanted to say to her, yet he could never do so when his eyes met Elle's, and those feelings he didn't want to have become stronger in his chest, changing the course of his words. "C'mon, Eddy. I already told you that she is not your mother, and you need to go to school whether you like or not, after all, you wouldn't want to become a bad kid with Christmas so close as only good kids who listen to their parents won presents from Santa." Perhaps it was cowardly of the Human man to use it against his Hybrid son, yet that was enough to make the little one change his mind right away, despite his desire to spend the day with the she-wolf he loved as his mother. ... And seeing the discouraged look on Eddy's face, that was enough for Giselle, unlike usual, not to be afraid to go against someone else... "I don't mind taking care of him today!" Elle's voice seemed louder than usual as well, stopping her Mate from leaving as both father and son looked at her simultaneously before she proceeded to finish her words. "It's only one day, and tomorrow starts his winter break, right? So I wouldn't really mind if he stayed with me at the store today as he wanted... But of course, only if it's okay with you." Hearing this, Edward immediately began to smile until he remembered about his father when the man held his hand tighter for a second without realizing, thinking about what Giselle had just told him. Aaron knew that there was no reason to go against her, but still, he searched for one in his mind while another side of him continued to fight with him for hurting their son's feelings over something so silly. ... Yet, it wasn't silly for him... And it had never been since he first met the she-wolf standing before him who was the opposite of everything he liked in a woman, but who never left his mind since then... * * * "Here, Sweet. A little treat to you." While working at my desk, I heard my grandmother say to Edward, completely forgetting what I had told her earlier about giving him candies. "Grandma..." "What, Honey? I didn't do anything, I swear." And with the most innocent smile on her lips, she answered me, leaving Eddy with a box of chocolates before coming to my side. "Are these the models you are working on for the summer collection? I thought you had already finished them." "... I already finished them... Those are just some ideas I had if perhaps anyone wants something a little more special for the Fourth of July or any event like that." While she looked better at my sketch in her hands, I said to her while hiding the rest that I wouldn't want her to see. ... After all, as much as I loved my grandmother and her pieces of advice, those were some that I wish she would never bat her eyes at since they were too personal to me... "A little too haute couture for your usual creations, but they are quite nice, and after a few changes, I know the right customers you should show them to." Although saying some things needed to be modified, her words encouraged me to think that for the first time in a while, I could work on an outfit a little more special than the ones we sold here as it had been quite a long time since we create something like a wedding dress from scratch. ... Which used to be my grandmother's strong selling point in the past, making women come from all over the country to buy her dresses... "But maybe Madame Colin might end up liking this one even without changing anything for the charity party she throws every summer." Mentioning the wealthy old lady everyone knew in our town, I couldn't picture her in that dress, but still, her peculiar taste wasn't something new to me or anyone else... "Yeah, this is something she would definitely wear." "Really? I thought you would disagree with me." Easily reading what was going on in my mind, my grandma eventually commented before the door opening noise prevented her from saying any other word that she may want to. "Where are my two favorite girls and the pup I love?" Joking around as always, my grandfather asked, entering the small studio they had behind the store, which had become practically mine in the last couple of years. ... A space he rarely visited as he said it was my grandmother's kingdom while he helped her with the sales since his retirement... "Goddess... Where on earth did my favorite little boy disappear to that he hasn't come to kiss me yet?" After giving a kiss on my cheek and my grandmother's as if he hadn't seen us a few minutes ago, he continued to play, messing around with Eddy. After all, Edward often ran into his arms as soon as he opened the door since he learned how to walk, and for sure, he would do the same right now if it wasn't for all the chocolates the little one had yet in his hands, distracting him. ... But of course, in the end, he put it aside after hearing my grandpa's voice, making him run to the old wolf while shouting Pops at the sight of the new toy in his hands... Seeing the two of them like that... Or rather, all of us there... We seemed to be a perfect family to anyone unaware of the stories behind those old walls. ... Although he was a figure who had been in my life since I was born, my grandfather wasn't my mother's father... He was my grandmother's Mate whom she met several years later after moving to Mirror Night when she lost her old Pack and husband in a hunter attack... She used to say that they weren't very friendly to Humans and how it was bound to happen at any time because of this, unlike any other Werewolf who would mourn their loss. However, it didn't mean that the older Werewolf wasn't related to me if I forgot he was my grandmother's Mate since he was also my great-uncle, biologically speaking. ... My father was his nephew who lived with them for quite a while when both he and my mother were still in high school, and I believe that I don't need to say anything else about her fear that perhaps I would end up dating one of her Mate's son behind her back after she found out that Charles had three boys... She was always afraid that I would make the same mistake she did, even though it wasn't uncommon for Werewolves to date or marry other people besides their Mates since many of them never got to know their other half if they weren't Dominant wolves. ... Which only increased the chances, although it wasn't a guarantee like the stories that I had heard of some powerful wolves from other Packs who never met them or were Mateless... Anyway, it didn't change one thing how much I loved everyone that was part of our family... Even if this strange relationship that bound us together trapped me in a promise that forbade me to be with my Mate before I even met him as I was too afraid to tell my mom the truth, although my bond with Aaron wasn't the same as the one that she once shared with my dad. ... And Aaron's rejection of my mere existence with his gaze made it all worse... As it turned me into a coward with the fear of how weak I would feel if the only connection I had with him disappeared after telling my mother the truth due to her own fears... Since, as always, the simple idea that she wouldn't believe my words was more realistic, just like the day when I tried to tell her that I was a future Alpha for the first time before the whole meeting done by our Alphas about the Pack's future.
