Chapter 16

Being outside of that conversation and only hearing a few words here and there and those words only being one sided didn’t help Luke much in understanding the situation. But then again, knowing the topic of their conversation did help. A lot. Liam had freaked out. He knew that he would do that, just not like that. Not running away from his problems, that was never Liam’s style. It was more of his own style every time his problems came around the corner. Ever since his mom had died he has been running and never really slowing down. Until now, until her. He gestured to Sasha that he was gonna try to call Liam from his room and talk some sense into him.

He didn’t answer the first call and it took a few tones before he pick up on his second call.

”What?!” Liam said angrily when he answered the phone call.

”Don’t do this man, you can’t just run out on her like that.” Luke tried his best to keep calm.

”Like you wouldn’t do the same thing in my situation.” It was said more as a statement than a question.

”I probably would but you can’t run away and leave her man. I get that you need time to think about everything but running away from her right now may not have been the best idea you’ve had. Think how she felt about it.” Luke said trying to talk some sense into his friend.

”I know, I’m an ass. But I was starting to feel claustrophobic in that car after a minute and I just had to get out of there.” Liam explained and Luke could hear him kicking gravel over the phone.

”I get that, but you still need to go back there and talk to her about it. It’s the only way that you’re gonna be able to answer the questions that I know is filling your head right now.” He know Liam all to well.

”I will.. I promise. I just need a few more minutes of air and trying to wrap my mind about the thought of becoming a father.” His last word hanging in the air between them. They didn’t say much more after that, Luke didn’t feel like pushing him any more than he already had. Liam was going to talk to Mel later and that was all that he needed to know.

”What he say?” Sasha asked as she peeked through the door to Luke’s room.

”He was just taking a few more minutes of air before going back to talk to Mel about everything.” He said with his sweet smile to calm her down about the situation.

”Good, cause I don’t want another call from Mel later on in tears again. Otherwise I’m so gonna kill him.” she said the last part seriously as she sat down next to him.

”You’re not gonna be the only one.” He assured her with a side hug around her shoulders.

”You’re kind of amazing, you know that?” She looked up at him and couldn’t help but down in his eyes.

”I did know that.”Sasha just laughed in response before she gave him a quick peck on the cheek before cuddling into his embrace. They pulled apart by the buzzing on Luke’s phone. Sasha looked at the name on the screen.

”Mike? Why would he be calling us this late?” Sasha asked as she saw that it was after nine.

”Only one way to find out. Hey Mike.” Luke said and answered the call on speaker.

”Hey man, I got some news. Is Sasha there by any chance?” Mike asked over the phone.

”Yeah I am, you’re on speaker.” Sasha said and couldn’t help but giggle a little.

”Perfect, cause I’ve talked to the label and your father about you two playing a few songs at MK to announce you guys to the public eye as a part of the label.” Mike spoke casually, like it wasn’t a big deal but Sasha was practically bouncing at his words.

”Sounds amazing Mike. When is it?” Luke said as he tried to keep Sasha from knocking the phone out of his hands.

”I was kind of hoping to do it tomorrow, the label wants to put a fast track on this since but of you have recorded so many songs already and the albums should drop in a few months and they want to do a bunch of promotion about you two before hand. So what do you say?” Luke looked down at the shocked but excited look on Sasha’s face before answering Mike’s question.

”Tomorrow it is.”

”Great, I’ll come by tomorrow with more of the details and soundcheck times and all of that.” Mike said before ending the call.

”You’re back.” Melody didn’t even look up from the hands in her lap when he got in the car again.

”Of course I am. You ever doubt that I would?” Liam asked but she didn’t even respond with a look of doubt so he kept on talking ”I’m sorry about that whole walking away thing. I just had to get out of there for a minute. To let it s..” He didn’t get to finish his sentence before Melody almost yelled back at him.

”I get that, if I could run away from myself I would be so far away right now.” She finally looked up to meet his eyes.

”Seriously Mel, I’m sorry.” He pulled her into his embrace.

”I know.” She felt safe and calm back in his arms. This was the way it was suppose to be.

”So I guess we have some things to figure out.” He said after a few minutes of silence.

”One thing I’m sure of at this point is that I can’t have an abortion.” She said it quite fast and he could hear the fear in her voice that he would take off again.

”I figured as much. I know you remember?” He looked into her eyes gave her a sweet kiss on her lips.

”Right..” She blushed a bit. ”I have a doctors appointment tomorrow to get it confirmed. Will you go with me?” She asked him on a shaky voice as if she thought he would break.

”I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.” He said and kissed her forehead.

”Thank you.”

”For what?” He asked as he pulled away from her just enough to look into her eyes.

”For coming back.”

Sasha and Luke had been talking about tomorrow for about an hour and started to think about which songs to sing and all that stuff when Sasha got a text from Mel.

”What did she say?” Luke looked over at her phone as his curiosity took over.

”He came back and I’ve been replaced.” She said it with a smile which made Luke confused as to her feeling happy about that.

”Great! Replaced?” He asked confused.

”I was going with her to the doctors tomorrow but now Liam’s taking my place. But then again, it’s a good thing.” She explained suddenly her happy expression made sense to him.

”I think it’s something that they need to do together and you don’t have that much free time tomorrow, now that we have soundcheck and I still need my alone time with you.” He said the last part as he started kissing her neck.

”As much as I’m loving this conversation..” she giggled by the touch of his lips on her neckline. ”We can’t do this right now.” Luke pulled away with a loud sight.

”I know.” He gave her a sweet kiss on her lips before she walked over to the door.

”See you tomorrow boyfriend.”

”See you, girlfriend.”

And with that Sasha walked back to her room and fell asleep that night thinking that life wasn’t so bad after all.

The next morning Liam picked Mel up around nine to go to the doctors to confirm that she was indeed pregnant. There wasn’t many words said between them, but it wasn’t needed. Once they got there Liam never let go of her hand and when the receptionist called her name he squeezed her hand in support before they walk into the exam room. The doctor asked a few questions before he drew some blood from her.

”While we wait for the results I would want to talk to you about what your options are.” The doctor said to the young couple in front of him.

”We’ve already decided to keep it.” She looked over at Liam who gave her a reassuring smile in return.

”Good, then we have some things to talk about as well. We will have to make appointments for the following months and I have a list of books that many people like to read before having a child.” The doctor explained as he pulled out a few papers from his desk.

”Sound good.” Was all that Mel could say at the moment as it all had become very real to her.

”How is it with support system? Family? Friends?” He continued.

”Friends we got. We just haven’t gotten around to the family part yet.” Liam spoke, he tried to sound reassuring for Melody’s sake even if it came out shaky in places.

”That’s okay, just make sure that you have a great support system cause that’s the most important part. Knowing that you have people on your side makes it easier.” The doctor said with a smile.

”We’ll keep that in mind.” He squeezed her hand once again.

There was a knock on the door and a nurse came in with some papers and handed them to the doctor.

”I’ve got the results if you’re ready for it.” He said as he looked the papers over one last time.

”Yes.” She said calmly, more to keep herself from exploding than for Liam to freak out again.

”You are indeed pregnant Ms Sánchez.” His statement was followed by a silence, given the fact that he did this for a living their reaction didn’t surprise him. ”Here is a list of books you might find helpful and here is one of food you should try to eat more of and some vitamins you need to take.” He handed her a much of papers from his desk with a smile that pretty much told her that she could do it.

”Okay, thank you Dr. Walker.” She said in a lower tone than she usually would and took the papers she was given.

”If there are any questions you can always call me.” He said and handed Melody his card with a number on it.

”Thank you.”

”Any questions right now?” He asked as he put her chart in a cabin behind his desk.

”I don’t think so.” She said as she looked over at Liam to see if he wondered about something.

”Not that I can think of right now.”

”Great, then you are free to go. Just stop by Margaret at the reception to book our next appointment on your way out.” He offered a smile and held out to shake both their hands.

”We will. Thanks again.”

”No worries.” He said before they exited the room.

Sasha and Luke were both sitting in the kitchen eating breakfast that Laura had prepared for their big day. Sasha still thought that she was dreaming everything that had happened lately.

”Are you excited about tonight?” Laura asked the two of them.

”Yeah, it’s gonna be fun to finally get out there. I’ve been waiting for this day for months now.” Luke said with ease as Sasha was just sitting there in silence, letting the realization sink in.

”Sasha? What about you?” Laura looked to her daughter that still hadn’t moved since she sat down a few minutes ago.

”Huh?” She looked confused at her mother.

”I asked if you were excited about tonight?”

”Yeah, it’s just kind of surreal to me. A few weeks ago I had never even thought about a career in music and now I got one.” Sasha said as her mind was still in the clouds.

”Things move fast and you know that.” Laura handed her a cup of coffee, thinking it would help with the landing back on the ground.

”Yes, it’s still not real to me yet. I guess that might change when my single is dropping.” She took a sip from the hot black liquid with a smile.

”Listen to you, when my single drop. You’re sounding like a real superstar all ready!” She was so proud of her baby girl.

”If that’s how you’re gonna be all day I think I’ll keep my distance. Thank you.” Sasha said with a sceptic look at her mother.

”Okay, I’ll tone it down and I have stuff to do today anyway so I won’t be around until tonight.” Laura explained as she put away some stuff in the cabinets.

”Wedding stuff?” Luke asked with his mouth full of cereal.

”Yes, actually I’m already late to meet Jane.” Jane was one of Laura’s oldest friends from school and was pretty much the only one who was okay with Laura’s young pregnancy and actually kept in contact after all these years.

”Say hi from me!” Sasha yelled after her mother who was running back and forth to gather all her things before running out the door.

Looking at an hysterical Laura put both of the teenagers into laughter.

”So are you totally terrified about tonight or what?” Luke looked at Sasha and waited for the front door to close before resting his hand on her.

”I wouldn’t say terrified but a bit scared, yes.” She said before standing up and walking over to put her plate and coffee mug in the washer.

”You’re gonna do amazing you know that right?” He followed suit.

”You’re just saying that.” She hopped up on the counter next to the sink.

”I’m not, you’re an amazing singer-songwriter and every girl there tonight's gonna wanna be you and every guy is gonna wanna be with you.” He walked so he was standing between her legs.

”Really? Every guy?” She teased him.

”Ha ha, very funny there Harris.” 

”Always.” She said seductively in his ear while she let the tip of her fingers flow over his right arm. She was driving him crazy, she knew just what bottom to push and what reaction it would bring out in him. Thankfully both their parents were out of the house so they wouldn’t be caught doing what ever they were about to do. In a second his lips crushed into hers as her legs pulled him even closer and she deepened the kiss. Things were getting pretty heated when Luke pulled away.

”What was that for?” She pouted.

”Cause if we don’t stop I don’t know if I will be able to stop myself and we have to leave in twenty minutes and I know that you will take longer than me that to get ready.” Luke said with a smirk. 

”That’s so not true!” She said back to him, pushing him away so she could jump down from the counter.

”Well let’s see.. We’ve been late almost everyday for the past weeks and you spend even more time on your hair than I do. And that’s saying a lot.” Luke did have a point. He spent a lot of time on his hair and Sasha was worse than him for sure. Getting the perfect messy bun takes a lot of effort, she thought to herself but didn't say it out loud. 

”Hey! I’m not the only reason we were late, I blame it on the way too long make out sessions in the car but fine, just keep blaming me for your actions.” Sasha said with a wink and started to walk away from him, knowing he would be checking her out. 

”So you’re saying that there will no longer be make out sessions in the car?” He said with both concern and some teasing tones.

”I didn’t say that.” She punched herself for answering so fast. 

”Than what were we even talking about?” Luke raised a brow to her, knowing he already won. 

”I don’t know, you started it.”

The couple bickered a little longer until they realized that they had to get going which put Sasha into a hurry to get ready, thankfully it didn’t take that long and they were only a few minutes late to the office. Mike had some clothes sent over for them to choose from and then the stylists were coming to make them look their best for the occasion.

After they both picked out their outfits for the night they headed to MK for the soundcheck. Sasha still hadn’t wrapped her mind around the thought of performing later that day in front of hundreds of people and that this was the start of her new life. She was happy that she had Luke by her side through this whole thing, even if she couldn’t show it all the time. Luke and Sasha spent the rest of the time in the upstairs apartment at the club.

Mel and Liam was now at Mel’s house with her parents on the couch of their living room and the two teenagers on the other side of the table.

”So are you gonna say anything or just stand there?” Melody's mother Monica asked. 

"I will, I just don’t know how to say it.” She answered back to her. 

”We already know that the two of you are dating if that’s it?” her father asked. 

”Actually it’s not that..” He trailed of a little and Monica started to get a little worried.

”Just tell me you didn’t get married or something?!” she asked with worry in her voice. 

”No! Could you just let me tell you before you start judging me!” Monica was a little taken back by her daughters harsh words but she didn’t say anything back, she just waited for the big new to drop. ”I’m..” She could feel the tears starting to roll down her cheek, Liam noticed and took her hand. ”I’m pregnant”

There was a silence for the first couple of minutes until Mel broke the silence.

”Are you gonna say something now or?” She didn’t get an answer so she continued. ”Just yell or something.”

”Are you sure?” Both Melody and Liam was taken by Monica’s calm reaction.

”Yes, we went to the doctor this morning to confirm it.” Mel said, still in shock by the lack of yelling. 

”And you’re gonna keep it I assume?” her father asked. 

”Yes, we wouldn’t want it any other way.” He looked into Mel’s eyes and she gave him a sweet thank you smile back.

Sasha and Luke had to keep things on a friendly level since they were never truly alone, there were people everywhere and Mike or Katy was always by their side.

”It’s time to get downstairs and mingle before it’s time. You ready?” He asked and looked between the two teens before him.

”Always!” Luke said with his usual confidence, Sasha couldn't help but feel that he was born to do this. 

”I don’t have much of a choice do I?” She let out a small scared laugh before they headed downstairs to an almost packed club.

Sasha took a look around to find someone she already knew, she had met at least fifteen men in suits that had something to do in the business she was about to enter. A smile spread across her face once she saw Melody and Liam talking at a table.

”You have no idea how happy I am to see you two right now!” she said once she reached them. 

”We wouldn’t miss it for the world.” Mel said and gave her a hug. 

"So how did it go with the doctor?” Sasha looked between the two, waiting for an answer.

”Well, I’m pregnant.” Mel's arms flew in the air with her words as if it was a surprise. 

”You serious?” She asked all happy.

”Yes, and that’s not even the biggest news today!” Mel said with a huge smile on her face that made Sasha think only one thing, they were engaged. 

"You're engaged?”

”What? No! My parents are weirdly fine with it. I expected Monica to throw me out or something but she took it better that dad did.”

”Wow, I wasn’t expecting that.” Sasha agreed with Melody. 

”I think she’s still in shock but enough about us. How are you feeling? nervous?” To Sasha dismay Mel changed the subject and her nerves returned within a second. 

”I wasn’t that nervous until you just asked me..” She confessed.

”Hey, hey. Don’t even go there, you’ve already sung on this stage and you know that you have me to lean on and we both know that you have Luke too.” She said all teasing since it came to guys.

”Just not in public.” Sasha said with some sadness in her voice.

”I know, but you can always change that you know.” Mel winked at her and she knew it was pretty much she who pulled the strings when it came to their relationship. 

The girls didn’t have much time to talk after that since Katy had come to get Sasha backstage to get the finishing touches ready.
