Chapter 20

1177 Words
Arielle tries hard to remove the pillow covering her face, but no matter what she does, she can't seem to take it off. The person covering her face was much stronger compared to her strength. Almost unable to breathe, she panics excessively but still doesn't lose hope. God has given her a second chance at life, so she won't waste it. She stretches out her hands and searches for something nearby that she can use against the person trying to kill her. She remembers that the small table where her lampshade is placed is close to her pillow, and its holder is made of metal. She reaches for it with all her might, and finally, when she gets hold of the lampshade, she forcefully swings the metal holder at the person covering her face. Since she couldn't see his head, she just hit him anywhere on his body. The important thing is that she hits him so he would let go of the pillow. It seems like she hurt that person because the pressure of the pillow on her face suddenly loosened. She took advantage of the slight loosening of the pillow on her face and strongly pushed it away from her. The pillow fell on the floor and that's when she saw a man wearing a black bonnet trying to kill her. As the man was about to approach her again, she kicked him hard in the stomach, causing him to fall on the floor. She stood up quickly and gasped for breath. She ran towards the door but the man grabbed her leg and pulled her forcefully. She screamed loudly as she fell to the floor. Her knee hit the floor first, followed by her face. She felt intense pain in her forehead and nose, which started bleeding, but she didn't pay much attention to it. She was more worried about the man holding her. She was certain that the man would kill her if she couldn't escape from him. She gave her a strong slap on her face, causing her to fall on the floor again. The man was not satisfied and kicked her side three times as if the person in front of him was not a woman. He was merciless. Very ruthless. She momentarily stopped breathing while writhing in extreme pain caused by the man. She wanted to lose consciousness, but she knew that if she did, she would not wake up again. "W-Who are you? W-What did I do to you?" Even though she was writhing in intense pain, she managed to speak to the man. "Do not ask more questions so that when you are in hell, you will have nothing else to think about but yourself," answered the man whose voice sounded familiar to her. But it seems like he is suppressing his voice, so she couldn't recognize the owner of the voice. The man slapped her twice again and then grabbed her hair, pulling her into the bathroom. He filled her bathtub with water and mercilessly submerged her head inside. Arielle struggled like a fish trying to escape from a net. But because the man was strong, she could do nothing but hold onto his hands that were pressing her head inside the bathtub. When she felt that she was running out of air in her lungs, the man lifted her head. She gasped loudly as she finally managed to inhale some air into her lungs. "W-What do you need from me?" she asked the man after coughing several times. "I need your life. That's what I need from you, and I'm going to take it from you now," said the man. Even though she couldn't see his mouth, she could feel him grinning at her visible suffering. When he was about to submerge her head again in the bathtub, she propped her foot against the side of the bathtub, avoiding losing balance and then she suddenly faced him. Before he could even guess what she was going to do, she forcefully kneed him in the groin. The man let out a loud scream and then released her hair that he was holding tightly. He slowly knelt while clutching his injured groin with both hands. She took advantage of that moment and forcefully pushed him into her bathtub. Even though she was weak, she managed to run out of her bathroom and straight to the terrace of her room. If she went out of her room, she would surely be caught by the man, especially since she couldn't run fast due to the extreme pain in her whole body. It seems that only survival instinct is strengthening her, which is why she can still move. The only way for her to quickly get out of her house and ask for help is to jump from her terrace. She noticed that it was bermuda grass where she would land and saw that it was raining, so the ground would surely be soft. Even though she would have a high fall, she wouldn't die, but she was sure that she would break some bones. But it's better to break some bones from jumping off the terrace to escape than to be killed by that man. From the top of her terrace, she closed her eyes tightly and jumped down. Even though the ground she landed on was somewhat soft, she still felt the pain of her body hitting the ground. Her body rolled in the mud and for a few seconds, she couldn't get up immediately. But she thought that maybe the man had already walked out of the bathroom and was following her, so even though her whole body was trembling with pain, she forced herself to get up. She walked unsteadily towards the gate of her house. She couldn't run anymore because if she did, her body would surely give out. She wasn't safe yet, so she couldn't afford to lose consciousness. She walked towards the street and hoped that a passing car could help her. But it seems that she was unlucky because not a single car passed by. Maybe because her house is not located on the side of the highway, so only a few cars passed by in that area. She thought of ringing the doorbell of her neighbors, but their houses are big and the gates are far from their doors. Surely, before someone could open the gate, that man in her house would have already reached her and killed her. The body of Arielle could no longer handle the intense pain she was feeling, so she suddenly collapsed in the middle of the road. She could no longer do anything to save herself if she was caught by that evil person. She could no longer defend herself. She was very tired. She slowly closed her eyes and just left her life to her destiny. But before her eyes finally closed and darkness engulfed her consciousness, she saw the familiar figure of a man approaching her with a very worried expression on his face.
