Chapter 14

Arielle felt a surge of joy upon hearing Gun's words to the people inside the room. He said that he was her bodyguard. Does this mean that he agrees to be her bodyguard? What about the beautiful woman who was with him? Did she allow him to quit his job? It seems that woman is not the type to just let someone like Gun go easily. She really wants to hear an answer to those questions in her mind but she knows this is not the right time for it. She still needs to explain to Tyron about Gun because she is sure he will not allow Gun to be her bodyguard. After all, it will ruin his plans against me. "What is this, Arielle? Why does this man claim to be your bodyguard? When did you get a bodyguard and why don't I know about this?" Tyron angrily questioned her. "Calm down, Tyron. I hired him because I need a bodyguard who can protect me all the time." She didn't use her endearment for Tyron because for some reason she didn't want Gun to hear her calling her boyfriend that way. "Why indeed, Arielle? Why do you need a bodyguard? And why out of all people in the world did you choose that arrogant guy to be your bodyguard?" Tyron's nose was almost smoking with intense anger. To others, it would seem like he was just jealous and insecure towards Gun which is why he strongly objects to the latter being her bodyguard. Because they didn't know Tyron's true colors. "The other day someone attempted to kidnap me, Tyron. I decided to hire a bodyguard to prevent such incidents from happening again. Is it wrong that I just want someone to protect me?" she defended herself. Tyron and Claire shouldn't suspect that she hired a bodyguard to protect herself from them, so she just made up a story. "What? Someone tried to kidnap you? Why didn't you tell me about this?" Tyron said worriedly. He approached and held one of her hands. Then he glanced at Gun and deliberately showed him kissing the back of her hand. From Tyron's expression, he wanted to convey to Gun that he was her boyfriend and the latter was just her bodyguard, so he should stay in his place. She wanted to retract her hand held by Tyron, but if she did, he would surely wonder. So she just endured the disgust she felt as he repeatedly kissed her hand. She glanced at Gun to see his reaction, but he just stared at her with a blank expression, so she couldn't read what he was thinking. Kim approached her and took the hand that Tyron was holding. She secretly thanked her friend for what she did while the latter's face suddenly darkened as if he didn't like what her friend did. "Good thing you survived from the person who tried to kidnap you, Arielle. And it's also good that you hired a bodyguard to keep you safer," Kim said in a concerned tone. She could see the genuine concern on her best friend's face, unlike the concern shown to her by Tyron and Claire, which seemed superficial. "Do you not trust me and Tyron that's why you didn't tell us that someone attempted to kidnap you?" Claire said as she approached and held one of her free hands. She secretly smirked at the feigned concern on her cousin's face. Her cousin was really fake. While appearing concerned for her outside, deep down she just wanted her gone from the world. She forced a smile at them. "I'm sorry for keeping it from you guys. But I didn't want you to worry, that's why I did it." "Okay. I forgive you. But let this not happen again," Tyron said to her before turning to Gun who was just silently watching their drama. "I'm here now, so Arielle doesn't need your protection anymore. You're fired. Leave now and don't show yourself to us anymore," he dismissed Gun, who just raised an eyebrow at what he heard. "You didn't hear what Tyron said, Mr. Gun? You're fired. So what are you waiting for? Get out of the room and look for new employers who will pay you," Claire said when she saw Gun not moving from his spot but instead staring at her as if waiting for her decision. "Tyron—" "Sshh. Let me handle this," Tyron interrupted her attempt to speak. He faced Gun again and ushered him away. "Why haven't you left this room yet? Do you want me to call the hospital guards to drag you out of this room?" "Why are the two of you making decisions for Arielle? Are you the ones who will pay my salary?" Gun replied, referring to Tyron and Claire, then smirked insultingly at Tyron before speaking again. "And why did you need to call hospital guards just to get me out of this room? Can't you handle it yourself that's why you need assistance? If you're that cowardly, how will you protect Arielle?" "How dare you talk to me like that! You're just a lowly bodyguard but you speak as if you're superior to me. I will teach you a lesson so you know your place." Tyron angrily approached Gun and threw a punch, but the latter quickly dodged, causing Tyron's punch to land in the air. Gun quickly caught one of Tyron's arms and twisted it behind his back. Tyron screamed in pain. Meanwhile, she winced as she imagined how much pain Tyron must be feeling right now, but she had no intention of stopping Gun so she just remained silent. "What are you doing? Let him go!" Claire angrily reprimanded Gun. Her cousin couldn't bear and help Tyron. She looked at Kim and exchanged meaningful glances. "So weak. But you're so brave to claim that you can protect Arielle," Gun said before pushing Tyron toward Claire. "Here's your little boy, Miss. It seems you're more worried about him than his girlfriend. Are you sure Arielle is his girlfriend and not you?" Both of them widened their eyes after hearing Gun's blunt question. Tyron, recovering from his shock, angrily pointed at Gun. "Don't make up stories to ruin Arielle's relationship with me because that won't happen. We both love each other and nothing will ruin our relationship, especially a worthless bodyguard like you!" "Is that the bodyguard you want, Arielle? He was clearly sowing discord between the three of us. So If I were you, fire him now and let Tyron find a bodyguard for you," Claire said to her. "Claire was right. Fire that arrogant man and I will find a better bodyguard for you," Tyron added to what Claire said, then suddenly winced, feeling the pain from Gun's twisting of his arm. "Both of you stop. You're just giving me a headache," referring to her two secret enemies. "I want Gun to be my bodyguard, okay? And I will be the one to pay him, not you, so my decision will prevail," she firmly said to them. Tyron's face suddenly darkened when he heard what she said. "Why do you seem to have changed suddenly, Arielle? You've changed the way you wear clothes and even your way of speaking has changed too. You didn't used to speak like that before, and you always used to follow what I wanted." She wanted to lose her patience and shout in her face that she already knew their true colors, but she still restrained herself. "Why are you so concerned about Gun? Did you come here for him? You didn't even ask me why I was hospitalized." Tyron's expression suddenly softened, and then his voice became lower as he spoke again. "I'm sorry, Love. I didn't mean to—" "Can you just leave, for now, Tyron? I want to think." After Tyron stared at her for a few seconds, he sighed deeply and left the room without saying goodbye. "I might as well leave too because my blood is just boiling with that guy," Claire said, giving Gun a nasty look before walking away. "What a nice people around you. By the way, as you heard earlier, I'll be your bodyguard from now on. Meaning, I accept your offer to work for you," Gun said as the two left the room. She didn't speak and just stared at Gun's handsome face. She felt joy in her heart as she gazed at him. It's as if they have a deeper connection that she can't explain. She had this feeling that she already met him before, not at the party or even in the restaurant.
