**Damian**
"Why does she have to be so foolish?" I said to myself
"Do you know what it means for the goddess to choose you mate?" she said
Why does everyone think the goddess is so special? Isn't she earthly like us? She is prone to mistakes too.
"Oh please, what's so special about the goddess that she gets to choose who you spend the rest of your life with," I said
At this point, I was fed up with how everyone treated the goddess and wished they could see her for who she was.
"The goddess is a sacred being sent by the gods to direct us and watch over us," she said
"What gods? Do you believe that nonsense? How sure are you that the goddess never makes mistakes?" I said
I began to rage, and pain from the past started to reminisce. It seemed as if she could sense it, so I tried to calm myself down.
"Look, I don't know what you went through in the past, but that doesn't mean you can talk about the goddess like that," she said
"I mean, this tradition has existed long before we were born. Everyone knows about it, even your parents," she said
"Do you think they'll be happy if they heard you talking like this?" she said
That's it; she's crossed the line. I won't tolerate anyone talking about the only people I loved the most.
"Don't you dare talk about my parents? You don't know them, and neither do you have any right to talk about them," I said
She tried apologizing, but I didn't listen as I was blinded by rage.
"Leave"
"I said leave, and don't you dare think of following me," I said
"Have I made myself clear?" I said
"Y...yes," she nodded in response to what I had said.
I left without looking back.
Only after I had walked a long distance and my head had cooled down did I realize what I had done.
"Oh s**t! What have I done?" I said as I began running back to where I had left the young lady
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have shouted at you that way. I overreacted," I said as I saw her squatting on the floor with her head facing the ground.
"I...I'm sorry, please don't leave me," she said as she jumped up, crying and hugged me tightly.
"No, I'm sorry for reacting that way," I said, wiping the tears away from her face.
Looking at her up close, I realized she was charming. The more I stared into her eyes, my heart began to race.
I pushed her slightly to put some space between us and prevent her from hearing my heartbeat.
"Are you okay now?" I asked
"Yes," she responded.
"What's your name?" She asked
"Damian," I said
"Nice to meet you, Damian. I'm Jane," she said
"I'm well aware of who you are. Have you forgotten," I said
"Oh please, can't you be nice for once? I'm trying to be friends with you," she said
"I never said I wanted to be your friend," I said
"You shouldn't have come back if you knew you wanted to be like this," she said
True. Why did I come back? Did I take pity on her? Or was I worried about her?
"I didn't come back for you. I came back for my bag," I said as I picked up my bag, which fell as I tried to save her from getting hit by a car.
"Really?" She said
"Yes, really," I said
"Well, goodbye," she said, walking in the opposite direction I was headed.
"There are many armed wolves out there. I hope you can fight on your own," I said
I hadn't taken a few steps when I heard the footsteps of someone running towards me from behind.
I smiled as I knew she was the one
"Wait up," she said
"Run faster," I said
"You aren't going to be my friend, are you?" She said
"I don't intend to," I said
"It'll only take you safely, after which we'll go our separate ways."
"That's fine by me," she said
"So what do you do for a living? Why are you alone, and where is your pack?"
Does she have to ask those questions? I don't want to get mad at her again, but she shouldn't push it
"Can you please be quiet? I have no interest in talking about my personal life with you," I said
"Rude!" She said as she scoffed
"Whatever you say, just please be quiet. I said
We walked for so long, and I was tired. I wondered how she was coping if a guy like me was exhausted.
Then, suddenly, she began talking.
"I'm tired," she said
I thought as much. I mean, wouldn't she? We had walked over 20km.
"We've been walking for so long now, I can't keep moving any further," she said
"I mean, the sun has risen, and we can't still find any place to take shelter," she said
"Why is this place so deserted? By the way, all we've been seeing is trees," she said
"Just try and keep moving; we'll soon find shelter, I'm sure of that," I said
"Honestly, I can't," she said
"I am thirsty and hungry. If I walk any further, I'll faint," she said
"Then I'll carry you," I said
She was a petite lady, so she couldn't be so heavy.
"Then please do," she said as she stretched out her hands for me to carry her.
"You want me to do it now?" I said
"Yes, please. I can't walk any further," she said
I had no other choice but to do it.
"Thank you," she said
"Oh wow, so you have a sense of gratitude?" I said
"Why wouldn't I? I didn't show it before because you behaved like a jerk after saving me," She said
"Say that again, and I'll drop you," I said
"I'm sorry," she said as we made eye contact.
"Damn, she is beautiful," I said to myself.
How can someone ever reject someone as pretty as her? Her crystal silver eyes shone brightly, and her ginger-red hair smelled like lavender.
Her light skin is as smooth as a glass.
I was interrupted by her voice.
"Why are you staring at me?" She said
Oh s**t, she caught me. What am I going to say?
