“Destroy your reputation? I’m promoting you. That helps your reputation.” Harker opened the refrigerator and grabbed two bottles of water.
“You’re not listening,” Alison said through clenched teeth.
“I am listening to you, but you’re not making any sense. Officially promoting you to manager of the engineering department is the best solution to this situation and it can only help your reputation.” He sat at the table. Problem solved.
“What if I don’t conceive? There’s no guarantee that I will and if I don’t this whole deal goes away.”
“That won’t happen.” He wanted a child with her, not with anyone else.
“You don’t know that. I wasn’t tested for fertility. You weren’t tested for fertility.”
“There’s no reason to think about this, let alone talk about it.
