The following morning, Dr. Flanagan, who ran the medical clinic in town, came for his weekly visit to examine Robert and Patrick. For Kenneth, the psychiatric doctor was due the next day to have a look at him and determine his readiness to go home.
After the doctor had seen to Robert, who, he reported, was healing better than expected, Robert phoned Freddie’s father. Celia stood by, anxiously studying Robert’s face for his reactions. Robert saw her and gestured that he’d tell her in a moment what Mr. Dylan was saying.
When Robert had rung off, she grasped his arm. He looked at her and touched her hand gently. “The good news is he’s on his way to Scotland,” he told her. “And his body is sound.”
