Tracy's POV
“Guess who I met earlier last week” I said to Karen. “Riley?”
“No!! not him”
“Then who?”
“Desmond”
“Who the f**k is Desmond?”
“How could you have forgotten Desmond, he was the one who linked Riley and I together”
“Oh, you mean that guy that was always following Riley”
“Yes him”
“You know I've always wanted to ask, how do you know someone like him?”
“What do you mean by someone like him?”
“Well, was too devoted to Riley and it was kinda annoying back then”
“Yes, he was”
“So how did you meet him?”
“He a senior I had a crush on back then in high school”
“Really, how did you too start talking? Did he also have a crush on you?”
“Unfortunately he didn't, he always regarded me as his younger sister and back then I hated it but I later grew up to prefer him as my elder brother and not as a lover so I right now I can't imagine as someone else other than my elder brother.”
“Did you ever tell him that you had a crush on him?”
“Definitely not, I didn't want to ruin our perfect relationship”
“Too bad, so why did you guys meet? Has he quit working with Riley?”
“No he still works for Riley”
“Wait a minute does he know that you are Beverly?”
“Yes, how do you think that I was able to pay for the surgery I had back then without moving into the gutter”
“I always wondered but didn't want to ask. You still haven't told me why you met him?”
“Well, he told me that he believes that Riley thinks I'm related to Beverly”
“Why?”
“He said that Riley told him to run a background check on on Tracey Brown and to his surprise it turned out to be me, he said he was so surprised”
“And?”
“And what? ”
“So does Riley know that you are Beverly?”
“For now no”
“How sure I you that he wont tell Riley?”
“I'm one hundred percent sure”
“Is that hoe much you trust him?”
“In this particular case yes”“If you say so. So what feedback did he give Riley?”
“The same thing every other person that know Tracey know”
“Including being a single mother”
“Yes”
“Hmm”
“What? If he no longer thinks I am or related to Beverly, I really don't see how that is much of a big deal”
“Okay, I just hope, things don't backfire”
“I hope so too”
“So how is work, especially now that Riley is now the owner of the company you work”
“Yes”
“Do you still plan on quitting? It's being a week since Riley took over”
“No, I can't afford to be jobless, especially now that this kids birthday is fast approaching.”
“I'm such a terrible Aunt”“Girl don't tell me you forgot”
“I actually forgot that we are already in August, here I was thinking that we are still in July”
“I really wish that”
“What plans have you made? It's two weeks from now”
“Honestly, I have nothing in mind”
“Oh!! Sophia is going pull down heaven if you don't make it a blast”
“You think I don't know that much”
“Maybe you don't”
“I have a question though”
“What's your question?”
“Do I still have to get them birthday gifts?”
“Why not, you shouldn't be asking that kind of question”
“Even after throwing them a party?”
“Definitely”
“I'm doomed”
“If you don't mind, I can help you out with a few things”
“You don't have, I'll find my way around this, I always do”
“Okay, do as you wish”
“Back to my previous question, how is work?”
“Good, we've not really started working with the new management”
“When will they take over?”
“Probably next week or so, Ricardo was given a week to tidy up his s**t and leave the company and his one week is already up, so I presume that the new management will take over by Monday or there about”
“Really?”
“Yeah”
“Isn't that too sudden?”
“It is but who am I to say otherwise”
“As much as I didn't like Ricardo, I still feel bad for him”
“Don't waste your feeling, he doesn't deserve it. That dumb ass is the reason why the company is crumbling and he even still sold the company at high rate”
“Why do you hate him so much?”
“Because his stupid, he was pretty hardworking when his father was alive probably because he wanted his father to will the company to him instead of his step brother, but as soon as he father died he stopped coming to work, travelling and living extravagantly with the company's card and when he realized that the company was going broke, he comes back and starts to act like a saint who is trying to save his company at all cost”“What if he was grieving?”
“Grieving in a yacht, in Dubai with ladies in thongs”
“Was he that bad?”
“Yes, he is so money centered, I'm happy he wasn't allowed to retain his position as CEO”
“Now that he is gone, how sure are you that you still have a job”
“If he was going to fire us, he would have said something about it, but I really don't want to sound too confident and later get disappointed”“Don't be discouraged, at least you have Desmond on your side”
“I don't think he has that kind of power”“You never can tell, he might speak in your favour”
“I really hope so too”
“Enough with this boring convo about work, it's Friday night, what do you want to do?”
“Nothing, I just want to sleep all night”
“You must be joking?”
“No, I'm not”
“That reminds me why didn't you go to work today?”
“What do you mean? I just got home few hours ago”
“You know what I mean”
“I don't” I said trying to play dumb.
“Did you quit your job at the bar?”
“Yes, I had to take your advise”
“I have one more advise”
“What is it this time?”
“Don't register those kids for summer classes ever again”
“Why? They requested for it and they seem to love it”
“They only wanted to go because their friends were attending it but they don't like and they didn't want to break your heart by telling that they didn't want to continue knowing fully well that you paid for it”
“Goodness God, they should have just told me, They are kids, I would have gotten angry for the wasted money but I would not have forced them to keep going, moreover their grades are not bad”
“One more thing, they are the only one in summer school now”
“That's not possible, I met a few other kids there the last I was there”
“Well they all stopped coming”
“That's really bad, I feel so bad, Is this how distant my kids have grown from me that they can't even tell me something like this”
“You don't have to feel bad, they were only looking out for you”
“They are just eight, I wish they would act like kids their age”
“You are really lucky that God blessed with kids as understanding as yours. Yes they might be eight, but they really don't act like kids their age and I really like that about them”“Well I don't”“It's not like you have a choice.”
“You are right”
“Enough sulking let's go clubbing”
“I can't, Who would watch the kids? I already told their nanny that she won't be needed today”
“Don't worry about that, I told Graciela to come sleep over”
“And she agreed?”
“Yes of course”
“So she agreed to leave her kids and come take care of mine overnight?”
“She said her kids are spending the weekend at her mother's place so she agreed to do it”
“Okay, cool”
“So which club are we going to? But Karen do you really think this is a good idea, you know that I'm a mother of three kids and I shouldn't be seen in places like that”
“Girl you don't have to worry about that, It's a mask party”
“For real”
“Yes girl”
“Then count me in” I said jumping out of bed
“That's the spirit.”
